Awesome experience at the dealership. Took in my Mercedes for maintenance. It's an older model so I wasn't sure if they were gonna be able to take care of everything but the service advisor Zak was great. I took care of an oil change in transmission service and now my car is running great while I was there. I checked out some of the new Volkswagens on the showroom and was really impressed by the sales associate that helped me. I found a car I liked, called them, got the final price so I could get a cashiers check (which I did) along with an airline ticket to fly and buy then drive home. I've been utilizing this location for the past three years now. I've always appreciated how friendly they are and willing to explain the complexities of some maintenance options that they recommend. I've never had to wait longer than an hour or so to get my car maintenanced. They've always offered a complimentary wash and ushered to their service bar for light refreshments and snacks while you wait. Unfortunately, there is no option to schedule for oil changes or minor repairs, but I appreciate the space they provide while you wait. read more

When I arrive on time, I am told that this is a "drive in service dealership only", i.e., first come first serve. I said but I was given an option to make an appointment on line. He repeated the same thing again. In addition, the 6'3" gray-bearded serviceman handing out line tags did not give me any eye contact when I said hello or was speaking with him. He just gave a "I don't give a s***, it ain't my problem, i got a job" attitude. Of course by this time, the line was a quarter mile long!! The sales lady April had a death in the family and apologized for not calling me right back when I text my dissatisfaction with the vehicle. Jay the Financial Manager also made sure the swap was a smooth transaction. Do I still want another Audi?! HELL NO, this vehicle is beautiful and has more bells and whistles than I've ever seen and the price is 100% fair! VW Service Monday: Went in for a a transmission fluid change. Was told it was a leak. Told the service rep okay change the gasket, filter and drain plug which is routine if im not mistaken. $120 no big deal. Tuesday: drive it to work. this happens! (see picture) heres where i really get pissed. I discover the bleed out at 7:30 am, speak with a service rep. he suggests bringing it in. as you can see that i cant drive it. he says get it towed... Don't buy from here whatever you do. We had the absolute worst customer service experience. We bought a new 2019 Tiguan. It was a manager's car at the location in Dulles. Which means it had been driven slightly by a manger. We were skeptical, but it was the only one in the area with all the features we wanted. And the manager Jasonte assured us he'd have it detailed and would repair any scratches or dings before pickup. WRONG! They had the car for 2 days before we picked it up. And nothing had been done. We wait for 2 hrs and finally have to leave. Jasonte promises that if we make and appt and bring it back they'll take care of the items we pointed out during pickup. All lies. We make an appt and first they tell us the person that can make the repairs isn't in. Why even let us make the appt. and then Jasonte starts telling us he won't fix this or that. He says you've had the car how do I know that was there before? BECAUSE we pointed it out and took pictures before pickup. Plus this was suppose to be taken care of before pickup. The only reason we're in this situation is because of your first failure. Now, we have to go back AGAIN. And they won't even do what they're suppose to do. This is on top of the fact we had to take the car in twice within a week of having it because of a light coming on. We were thinking about getting a VW Golf as a second car, but not after this experience. BUYER BEWARE! read more

I can't decide who is worst: Pohanka or Volkswagen the manufacturer. Our recent experience with them was terrible and it left me believing that they cannot be trusted with any vehicle. We bought our Atlas in several times since buying it in 2017. In 2018, the coolant light started coming on and off. They topped off the coolant levels and said we were good to go. We were due for service when the light started coming back on about 8 months later so I brought it in. After waiting for four hours (assuming they were performing the routine maintenance) the service manager tells me that coolant is actually leaking slowly into my engine. He tried to lessen the blow by saying it wasn't a lot at a time and that it was burning off. They informed me they would have to keep the car so an hour later they brought me a weed smelling banged up Passat--or something of the sort--charged me a deposit and sent me on my way. We consulted with some technicians about the issue and they advised us that this problem likely caused damage to our engine so it goes without saying that we were concerned. The service manager and director were very unhelpful and disagreeable. They wanted to fix the leak and do nothing for the engine itself. I was told by a VW tech at another dealership that VW (the manufacturer) knows of this issue so I have no idea why it was not caught beforehand. It all seems very shady to me. I tried to call VW customer service and they were even worst. The woman was not helpful and kept asking me what I wanted to happen. When I told her what I thought should occur she said that was not possible. I asked her what her suggestion was and her response was that she can't suggest anything that she can only provide what I ask. This went on for 20 minutes. After some dispute and a refusal to write down what was wrong and the plan of action to fix it, they told us to come get our car, so we did. When I picked it up I realized they had never done the routine maintenance. So why was I waiting for four hours, trying to work in their waiting area with a 2 year old? What were they doing that entire time if not at least changing the oil? Not only did they miss the leak, it seemed to me as though they or VW are trying to wait it out until the engines are out of warranty. The only person in the service department with any sense is Sharon. I regret that she had to be involved in any way. I wish a better place to work upon her. She's better than this place. We ultimately took it to another dealership. They were much friendlier and provided us with a brand new, clean Atlas as a loaner. They also could not provide much help. They said they would monitor it with us. But they at least tried to contact VW customer service too and also found them to be unhelpful. I will never in life buy another Volkswagen and I won't even look in the general direction of Pohanka. Frauds just like VW's CEO. read more

I had a great experience at Pohanka VW, start to finish. This is a review of the Pohanka VW sales department. I will continue to update this review and my star rating (if necessary) as I experience their service department. Start: Me, about to turn thirty, looking for my first adult vehicle. I was focused almost solely on Honda Fits and Civics, but a friend of mine told me I would be crazy not to at least test drive a VW Jetta TDI. So after seeing a somewhat dull Civic at Pohanka Honda next door, I figured I might as well mosey over to the VW dealership and test drive the TDI, just for fun. Faith Bennett took me for a test drive of both the Jetta and the Golf TDIs and was very friendly and patient, even though I told her I was just looking at Hondas (and used ones at that) and was only test driving the Jetta out of curiosity. Faith emailed me her contact information afterwards but did not call to try to convince me to buy a car I said I was not looking for. Clearly, I loved the test drive. I couldn't get the VW out of my mind, and the Fit, which had felt cute and zippy just a few days before, now felt teedling, weak, and unsafe. At my initiative (read: no pressure), Faith and I corresponded for a week or so about various options for buying or leasing different model years of the car. I was entertaining offers from several other dealerships, including one bid from a different dealership that was low enough to prompt one of the higher bidders to insist that the low bid could only be a lie the dealer was telling me (FYI, it was not a lie). Several other dealerships promised to beat that low price, but when pressed on the exact amount by which they could beat the price, confessed they were talking about a discount of $40-$200. Yes, another dealership seriously offered a price $40 lower and called that beating the bid. The finish: Pohanka VW also promised to beat the bid, but unlike these other dealers, they offered a price that was several times less than the $200 discount other dealers offered (read: it was a discount worth coming in to hear about). [This seemed to boggle the mind of the aforementioned higher bidder dealer, who could not believe any dealership would sell the car I got at the price I got.] [Footnote: I wonder if part of the reason they were willing to make such a great (for me) offer on the car is because they are a relatively new dealership run out of a semi-permanent trailer-like fixture. Not only do they lack the expenses associated with a big brick and mortar building, but I'm sure they are also trying to build a client base and attract customers despite their temporary building. (Note that the dealership is opening a large building next year; the trailer time is temporary.)] During all of our negotiations, I felt that Pohanka was relatively transparent and respectful. Once we agreed on a price, Faith helpfully found the color options I wanted at another Pohanka lot and arranged for the car to be transferred the next day. We filled out the paperwork and Faith even waited patiently while I signed up for auto insurance with Geico from her desk (about a 25-minute process). Ms. Portiene, the finance person, carefully explained all of my warranties and set me up with financing at BB&T that was at lower rate than I'd been able to secure on my own. She even stopped me from buying unnecessary gap insurance, explaining that the size of my down payment made such insurance unnecessary. Then I got a tour of the dealership's facilities and service center and was set up with a 30-day check-up to adjust the alignment of the car after I had a few weeks to drive it. The dealership also hooked me up with a loaner Jetta TDI that I could use to drive myself back to the dealership the next day to pick up my car. Actual pick-up of the car the next day also went smoothly. The car was washed and vacuumed, another sales person named Natarsha showed me how to use the blue tooth and some of the other features of the car, the gas tank and tires were filled up, and the sales person even took a few photos of me with my new car. I would definitely recommend stopping into Pohanka VW to take a look around. My initial test drive, during which I did not appear in the least to be a person seriously considering purchasing a new Volkswagen, was pleasant and low-pressure and the negotiation process was mostly carried out by email and ended with just about the lowest price I think I could have gotten. (Save for the $40 discount I may have been able to get at one of the undercutting dealers. ::eyeroll::) In any case, if you are in the market for a VW, talk to these guys and see what they can do for you. read more

I would NEVER recommend this dealership to anyone. Even though the sales rep was friendly and flexible, I was disappointed by the deceptive and pushy sales tactics. Using TrueCar, I found a great deal on a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid with just over 15000 miles. My wife and I came and test drove the car and decided it was a good value. The sales rep I was working with said to come back any time the next day to process the purchase. I arranged for a friend to drop me off in the morning intending to buy the car based off the TrueCar price. I was annoyed to learn the person who processes the sales contract would not be in for another 2 hours. Why did the sales rep not mention to come in after this person arrived? Additionally, when I sat down to sign the paper, I was incredibly surprised to see an extra 1495$ "Reconditioning" Fee on top of the TrueCar guaranteed "No Surprises" price. They had not mentioned this previously. Looking at the CarFax, I saw the only recent maintenance had been to change the oil, check the brakes and fluids, and rotate the tires. I called the Pohanka Hyundai Service to get a quote for these repairs and learned that the total would be 200$ if I also wanted the tires balanced. This is essentially as 1300$ markup, making a great priced car much less so. To top it off, the "Title & Fees" for registering the car in MD also seemed a bit high at 579$. After leaving here, I went to a dealership in Virginia and bought a similar car. At this dealership without the MD inspection, the "Title & Fees" were only 310$. I scheduled the MD inspection at a highly recommended shop I found through yelp and only paid 73$ total. This was essentially 200$ less than what Pohanka VW was charging for the "Title & Fees", which is ridiculous! read more
