After reading rave reviews about the lobster roll and going to try this place for myself, I was wholly disappointed. The lobster roll wasn't a traditional lobster roll, rather just some lobster covered in butter on a hot dog bun. The food was mediocre and very pricey at $17 for a sandwich ($20 with fries). The clam strips were okay, but the fries were bland and soggy. The lobster wasn't awful, but it wasn't great, it was very tough and chewy and they serve a piece of claw meat with every sandwich which I found offputting. Let's start off with why this was the worst dining experience I've had. As soon as we sat down, the three hostesses/waitresses started staring us down. It was so uncomfortable and they kept doing it throughout our entire dinner. Not only would they stare at us the entire dinner, but they would talk amongst each other while doing so, clearly talking about us. I'm not sure why this happened and why they felt like doing this but they did it the entire dinner and it was the most uncomfortable dinner we ever had. I'm not sure how often this happens, but if you don't want to feel uncomfortable and have 3 women staring at you and talking about you the entire dinner, don't come here. Overall, the staff was a bit rude to us and other diners around us. The food was mediocore so it's not even worth ever going back. The calamari was over cooked and the lobster roll was dry. THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL EVER!!! My daughter and friend are visiting from out of town. Weather was nasty and we said - let's drive down the shore anyway and find lobster rolls. I took to Yelp - always there for me- and we decided on Point Lobster. Easy access, and not on the beach which I found very appealing. Got there about 1:30 and we each ordered lobster roll with fries, and a soda. Bill came to $70 which isn't cheap but when the food came? We understood why. The soft roll cushioned a mound of fresh, hot, buttery lobster meat that was sweet as could be. No little shreds here. Chunks from all over the lobster. And no mayo! No fillers like you get other places. Even the Cole slaw is on the side (my only complaint is there could have been more than 3 bites for the Cole slaw). Ate every bit of the roll since all the juices made it delicious. The surprise? The shoestring fries were nice and crispy - no mush here. Very filling and totally worth the price and trip. The lobster roll is pure bliss for a lobster lover, you got a potato bun full of lobster and ample seasoned fries. Service was equally good for a fish market. After you've had Point Lobster's lobster roll, you will be "ruined" for life when it comes to enjoying what passes for lobster rolls anywhere else. It's not just the quality of the lobster (real chunks on a soft potato roll with melted butter versus the typical shreds in a sea of mayo), but also the quantity. There's no seating inside, but there are picnic tables in a covered area along the outside wall. Best fried clams. I would have asked for lightly fried but boy were they good. They are medium size; not real tiny like some place. The tarter sauce was good. I also had the $17 lobster roll with butter. It was pretty good. I threw out the roll as not to get too full and tried the pick and peel shrimp. They were just ok, might have been a touch under cooked, butterflied and had old bay but I was expecting just regular plump shrimp, but still good. A really nice time outdoor! The staff brings out you food. They get busy with takeouts so you might have to wait a little; they bring it to you. read more

Received a recommendation from a local fishing boat Captain regarding a great place for a lobster roll and ended up at Point Lobster. The lobster roll is not the typical New England lobster roll which is a lobster salad with mayonnaise. The Point Lobster's roll is a decent portion of lobster meat with (I believe) melted butter on a potato roll. Yummy eats, great stuff for eating lobster without having to fight for your food with cracking shells. Limited out door seating with a few picnic tables, no indoor seating and the atmosphere one of a fish market. What I like is that they specialize in fresh local caught fish and are clear in their labelling regarding their fresh/frozen seafood offering.. I also, tried the crab cake sandwich which is also a winner. I heard from the locals (boat Capt, etc) this is the place to go in Point Pleasant and it was worth the try. I am now a regular customer, and enjoy Point Lobster often with the family. read more
