I've been silently protesting Point Lookout Deli for the past four years, but under new ownership, I gave it another shot--and wow, what a transformation! The sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich I had was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. I was a bit hesitant about the bacon after previous experiences of it being undercooked, but this time it was CRISPY PERFECTION. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up going back for a BLT and even just bacon on a roll--that good! The Columbus sandwich was another highlight. Fresh ingredients that hit just right, especially when enjoyed on the beach or pool side. You can tell the owner is dedicated and hardworking; I saw him behind the counter, helping customers on a busy holiday weekend and even taking the time to send out an order for the local fire department to support them after their Fourth of July parade. It's heartwarming to see a business actively involved in the community. I'm thrilled to see life brought back into Point Lookout Deli. Too expensive! I was shocked at the prices for what you actually get. The portions were small, and honestly, the quality didn't match the cost at all. I don't mind paying more when it's worth it, but this just felt overpriced for the experience. There are way better options nearby for a much better value. Had an excellent experience yesterday a PLO Deli! It's been forever since I visited the area, and we all know how important a great deli is to a beach town. The staff were efficient, friendly, helpful and the food was fantastic. Very fairly priced, with a convenient location right down the block from the beach. There is also plenty of areas to stop and park nearby for a quick in and out! I can't say enough about how nice the people are - hard workers clearly that care about their customers. Not taking credit cards under $10? So on a $8.95 wrap you have possibly pay up to a whopping 25 cents. Wouldn't it be better to pass that fee off to me and allow me to get my lunch and you to make your sale? Better than lose lose. Right? So here are some options for you. A - Change your policy from we don't allow cards under $10, to we charge 3% for cards under $10. And pass the 25 cents off to me. B - Just accept the card and eat the small fee cause heck its better to make a sale and its only 25 cents. C - Dont accept cards for sales under $10 and make no sale and leave customer unhappy and you without a sale. read more

I've been going to this deli for years, since at least 2005 as a lifeguard for the Town of Hempstead. Their recent decline is tied to ineffective management and hiring inefficient employees. I went there today and ordered a sandwich, which was made by a 16 year old kid who looked like he had never made a sandwich before in his life. There was a supervisor nearby but he did not offer assistance to this young man. I waited 30 minutes for a grilled chicken sandwich. My sandwich was essentially bread, chicken, tomatoes and Swiss cheese thrown together with no semblance of order, that quickly fell apart when I arrived at my beach chair to eat lunch. There is nothing I hate more than sandwich reconstruction. It was very disappointing. Of course I still ate it because I was hungry, but damn this was a poor excuse for a sandwich. Could have been made better by a blind guy. Really sucks that there is literally no organization to this once fine establishment. It could definitely be restored to its former glory with the influence of a skilled manager. I might stop in again next Summer, hopefully to find a much more effectively run business, in the spirit of a happier time in Point Lookout Deli's history. Time to call in Gordon Ramsay for a complete overhaul. read more

Tons of really good sandwich options. I like that they offer roll or hero options on all the sandwich. I got a sandwich but my daughter and her friend don't really eat sandwiches. Teenagers!! Anyway, I love that they have other options. The girls got a Philly cheesesteak and a chicken quesadilla. You don't find those choices in most delis. Store was spotless. Rice pudding was very good. Very unprofessional place of business. After a wait for two simple sandwiches and 10 customers going before us, we excused ourselves and walked out. The OWNER followed us out and berated us. quote for quote from what he said "you should be thankfully we are opening and serving the community." he proceeded to threaten us , pushing us out into the traffic in lido blvd. I do like this deli but I am only writing this review because I am concerned about their covid 19 policies. They are not enforcing a No Mask/No Service policy for customers and I have been in there in the last few weeks and seen fights nearly break out between masked and unmasked customers, and the owner doesn't get involved or try to make a decision regarding who is right and wrong. There is a sign on the door that says please wear a mask, but a stronger message needs to be applied. But this is not my main concern. Today I went in and the 2 young kids behind the counter had there masks on with their noses sticking out, and I watched one of them making a sandwich like this while the other worked the register like this.... The older gentleman who I believe to maybe be the owner was behind the counter with his mask around his chin!!!! No mouth or nose covered. Newsflash - there is no point wearing it then! I'm sorry, I know the masks are annoying but if you are in the food service industry you need to suck it up, I will definitely not be back because I don't want a sandwich made by someone who is not following the safety protocols necessary at this time. Big ripoff! Today I ordered 2 tuna sandwiches on a roll to go and when my son and I opened our sandwiches when we got home we were shocked at the less than half portions! Hadn't been there in years but was getting off the Loop Parkway and remembered it used to be a good deli in the past. Officially I would like to give this place 3.5 stars. Four stars for food and three stars for price. This deli will certainly have what you need to enjoy a day at the beach however you will certainly pay a pretty penny for the convenience of shopping here. Upon walking in you're greeted by a massive "sandwich board "that is full of, you guessed it, many different sandwiches. The list is quite comprehensive and considering this Deli gets very busy during prime time, I would suggest you go on their website and figure out what sandwich you want before walking in. Trust me it will save you time and the grief of having to listen to the people mumble under their breath behind you while they wait. There is also a fairly decent selection of premade and prepackaged foods in the event that you would like something already made. Sliced fruits, yogurt parfait, sandwiches and wraps are just a few of the items you can pick up premade if you are in a hurry. I picked up a premade cranberry chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat that was quite delicious. The bread was fresh and the sandwich was made earlier that day. They have homemade iced tea and pink lemonade, and I would recommend ordering a half-and-half (lemonade and iced tea.) While the cost can be prohibitive, (my sandwich and drink was $13, they do a good job of providing quality food and convenience situated walking distance from the beach. read more

The guy that works here is so obnoxious and rude. Wouldn't accept a groupon from the app when it specifically says you don't have to print it. Then the next time I printed it and came in and they said they're not accepting it anymore... But I paid for it and it doesn't expire for a month... Then I try to order on grubhub and they say they don't have half the things I ordered and they can't deliver... Then don't post yourself on grubhub! I was trying to order a veggie panini they said they didn't have the veggies! Then we called up and spoke to the guy there and said we wanted to make a $400 catering order... His response? "Yeah? I went yesterday to Point Lookout Deli and Cafe using a Groupon certificate. It is not really a cafe since there is NO seating I could see in the store.The store itself was clean and airy and seemed quite busy for that time of day. I ordered to go a chicken cutlet titanic hero and it was just that titanic. It was over a foot long with tasty ingredients inside for about 13.00 Counter service was very good and was responsive. Some of the best sandwiches in town...they use boars head brand....there sides such as potato salad...and mozzarella and tomato basil are delicious...they also have a full grill...I love getting food from this place and most of the surrounding town does too...one word of advice...if in a rush... call in your order...it gets pretty crazy during lunch and dinner.. read more
