A friend brought me to this out of the way spot for lunch. The inside has a charming 50s soda shop/diner vibe with bright paraphernalia covering the walls. Very cute! We shared two specials: the catfish and shrimp mirlton casserole which were $11/12 a piece. Both came with peas, the canned version. Not my favorite but pleasant all the same. The catfish was excellent: fresh, crisp, not even the slightest bit greasy with cocktail and tartar sauces and potato salad on the side along with the peas. The shrimp mirlton was good but we were missing the zing of a bit more Cajun spice which would have elevated the dish. It was served with bucatini style mac and cheese which was a solid showing and an overly dressed side salad..The catfish was the star of the day. Overall a charming, frugal and filling lunch at a happy hole in the wall. I'd be glad to return.

Service was great. All the food was good especially the catfish. I even ate the peas even though I generally don't like peas. The Mirliton and shrimp stuffing could've used some Cajun seasoning. But it was all still good.

Great place to go if looking for a true local, authentic experience. Food is off the chart. People very nice. My favorite was the fried eggplant appetizer. Home cooking, poboys and other sandwiches, seasonal options. Well worth the stop and would go again.

I'm kind of torn about The Point. This is a neat little lunch place in Harvey. They only serve lunch and close at 4. I met Dustin for lunch here, on his suggestion. They serve all kind of things from sandwiches and burgers to hot plates. It's cafeteria style, so you walk up and tell them what you want and they put it on a plate and you pay at the register and seat yourself. Not a bad setup for lunch. I decided to get a club sandwich with sweet potato fries and Dustin got one of the specials, which was fried chicken with salad, corn and mac and cheese. My sandwich was okay. It was nothing overly special, but I enjoyed it. The sweet potato fries were a nice touch. I was able to try some of Dustin's chicken and mac and cheese. It was super good and for a lunch, you really get your money's worth. I like the atmosphere of the whole place. The walls are decorated with Louisiana knick knacks and signs and the whole restaurant has a "50's diner" kind of feel. The staff was super nice and friendly. I think that I would go back and maybe try one of the hot meals that they offer. They also have burgers, so I might check that out too.

I would give it 3 1/2 stars This is a place in the Harvey Canal industrial corridor that we eat at for lunch when we get burnt out on Angelos. It is homestyle foods, white beans, hamburgersteak, tuna fish on croissants, fried trout and such. It is good. I rarely have time to eat in so its usually to go. There is alot of cool trappings to look at. Check out my pics That is what I enjoy about eating in. Ok, let me describe the ordering walking process.... Right when you walk in you will see an dry erease board with the specials. You then make your way down the line like a cafeteria and tell the nice ladies what you want. Then you pay at the end and they get your name and you take a seat. They bring out shortly, sometimes though you get it on the spot, just a matter of them scooping it and such. A little reminicant of Rocky and Carlos lunch ladies Good food no doubt. If you work in the area or it, your already familiar with it, if not and your close by, make sure to put it in your rotation. If you call them they will add your fax # to thier daily menu list. A plus! There is a big giant nice looking bar but im not sure if it is ever used?

$36 for 2 plate lunches and 2 pieces of pie. Great food, just enough to fill you up. Try the soft shell crab or red beans plate. Use to come here a lot when I was a kid. Support local business

Haven't had shepherd's pie since I was a Catholic school girl. This is absolutely delicious!

Nothing impressive. It's clean and employees are friendly besides the sandwich nazi lady.

You find your own table inside or outside. Sides are separate order and price unless you order the special of the day amd it'll say what it comes with. 1st time ordered le pig. It was good, a little salty. But its not as tender as a beef burger. It was a nice change up. The pickles were good. We ordered some to go. ( take with you or they can ship to your house). The burger itself was filling to me. Rest of my party bbq pork and fish platter. Hush puppies were okay, they give so much. I could honestly do without it. Everyone was satisfied. 2nd visit ordered the porchetta . That was really good. Ordered a mac and cheese. It has breadcrumbs on top it comes in a small dish that i feel like is shareable. It wasn't bad actually ( ive had worse lol). One of the workers did really suggest it. I was willing to try it. It was edible, no cheese pull but also not just buttered noodles. Depending on my mood I might get it again. Porchetta and the leadership pig, I think the porchetta was better but both are great and filling.

This sandwich had a lot of height to it, my TMJ was not happy but it was good. - Crinkle Cut Fries Both of the sandwiches were good but they're quite rich. I wouldn't be able to finish one by myself I got a little flavor fatigue by the end. Having a hard time picking between the two sandwich which one I prefer more so I would just get both and split it with others. Wait Time: Arrived around 1PM on a rainy Saturday, line was out the door. It was about a 30 minute wait until we ordered and got seated. Restaurant had slight nostalgia vibes to me, it almost felt like the sandwiches were something someone made after school with leftover ingredients and it works.

I placed an order about 10:20pm via GrubHub. After receiving a notification via GrubHub that my order was being made and in process, I was happy I would be having a po' boy and fries in 30 minutes. Well....20-30 minutes go by and I get an update saying my order is delayed 15 minutes. Ok...thats fine. Still satisfied that with my limited options this late in this night that I will be getting food. 10 minutes later, I get a text saying my order has been canceled. Frustration ensues... I debate. Just let it go? Or call the restaurant directly. I call the restaurant. A pleasant gentleman answers. I explain my order and cancellation notice. He says my first name without prompting and explains that Grub Hub did not assign a driver and he cancelled the order. Before my objection, however, he asks where I am and clarifies that I am at a very near hotel. He, the owner, confirms my location and room number and says he can make my order in 5 minutes and deliver within 15. I was elated. I go downstairs to the hotel lobby to wait and within less than 15 minutes he arrives with a bag of hot food that I ordered. This is customer service of perfection. When he arrives I pulled out cash for a tip and he refused to accept it and apologized for Grub Hub screwing things up before I could even have cash to give him. The food....it was great. The bread of the po'boy was crispy on the outside and chewy inside. Fresh shrimp was flavorful and lightly breaded. The cheese fries are indeed world famous. This wasn't just a "food was great" review. But the above and beyond service was as good as the food. If you have read this review this far, just order food from Parkside Tavern. Please. You will not regret it.

It's a bar (long bar) with TVs, and a pool table. I called in an order for a cheeseburger on French, dressed and a large order of fries. The person taking the order was friendly and efficient. Said it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was. The food was as good as I remembered. The French bread must be Leidenheimer's. It's the best. Parkside is smoky and it's decor leaves something to be desired. Mostly frequented by friendly locals who have been going to Parkside forever. However, if you want a great cheeseburger on French and super French fries, give it a try!
