Having enjoyed lots of poke bowls on the west and the east coast, I didn't think the Midwest could offer something on par, let alone beat them. But this place... it surpassed my expectations on multiple levels. Hands down one of the best poke restaurants in the US. Now let's break it down as to why I say that. 1) Fish. They are sticking with the basics and offer three types of fish to choose from: tuna, salmon and yellowtail. While the fish options are fairly standard, they offer three preparations of each fish which I really enjoyed. The quality and the freshness of the fish is top notch. 2) Toppings. I love how this place doesn't nickel and dime you by up-charging certain toppings or limit the number of toppings one can have. Their toppings are fresh and flavorful. 3) Beyond poke. While I don't often care much for other dishes while at a poke place, this time I needed options other than poke and this place delivered. Their beef ramen had a rich broth and was delicious. Great pork gyozas. We ate at the restaurant and found the service to be fast and courteous. The place is spacious compared to most poke places and there's ample free parking. read more

We stopped for a quick lunch on our drive through to Ohio. The staff was very friendly. Our daughter had the chicken ramen bowl and my husband and I both had poke bowls. I had tuna, he had salmon. Everything was fresh and very tasty. We also split the pork gyoza - yum! We were able to sit down to eat at one of the two tables inside. After reading the reviews here on Yelp, we decided that the trip down warranted trying out some Poke bowls. I've tried Poke bowls all over, and the best I ever had was in San Jose, CA. So, I wasn't expected fresh fish right out of the ocean, but I was expecting it to be a bit more than what it was. I ordered the rainbow bowl, and it wasn't horrible but wasn't great either. I was happy to be having poke, and the fish was decent, but the flavoring just wasn't there for me. Oh my goodness is this place great! I came here for the first time not knowing what to expect today. I was treated quickly and decided to order a sushi burrito. I got to pick two protein options and all the toppings I wanted! It was made super fast and was delicious beyond words. Part of me wants to go back for dinner even though I went for lunch just because it's THAT good. Before coming here I have never been to a poke restaurant before. I have had sushi before but nothing like this. I ordered their seaweed salad a miso soup and a volcano bowl. I though the miso soup could have been a little better and was not my favorite. But the seaweed salad I had was very good and I enjoyed a lot. On the volcano bowl I really loved the level of spice it has to it and the use of spicy tuna. They also give you a lot of spicy tuna for the price you are paying. The first time I tried out this place I got a poke bowl and it was amazing. As was the friendliness of their staff. You guys rock. Their ramen however is a completely different story. Let's begin. I've never had a ramen I was so disappointed in untill now. I literally felt like I could have gone home and made better ramen from an instant pack. I actually debated on leaving and going to yotsuba paying more for another bowl. I feel like poke bowels are their specialty here, they seam to take alot of time and have very fresh ingredients anything but with the ramen. The broth tasted like it came from a box, it was plain and had absolutely no debth that a real broth should. It was definitely not umami. It was nonyummy. The only thing blander than the broth was the noodles which is really saying something because how do you really mess up ramen noodles? The combination of the bad broth with the bad noodles killed this dish, it was so bland that I questioned weather there was soy sauce in this, that's right SOY SAUCE. IT WASN'T SALTY. But you can bet I am for paying almost 11$ for this sad excuse as ramen. Seriously, just go down the road to yatsuba and pay the extra 3$ at least you won't be totally underwhelmed. I usually don't leave two star reviews but with a hand pulled noodle place down the road in Ypsilanti, yotsuba and slurping turtle, you guys need to step up your ramen game. read more

This is a solid choice for a poke bowl. I have only had takeout - I usually get the salmon bowl - and it's consistently fresh and good.

Poke fish has gone downhill since Covid. Online ordering should work the same in theory, but in practice the fact that you aren't watching them make your bowl changes everything. Since opening, the rice has continued to increase its percentage of the bowl each visit. Toppings can be skimpy-and they prefer you to not ask for extra. I was always able to make a decent bowl before in person. Online is a different story. The bowl I ordered yesterday was missing at least 5 ingredients that I had ordered. Of the toppings I did receive, one third of the bowl was daikon radish. In the past, including this in your bowl would get you one slice-perfect. My bowl had 8! Guess they really needed to get rid of those radishes! At least my dog was okay with it. Too much rice/poor execution of custom order/best ingredients missing from bowl, means I won't be back until things return to normal. Also, be careful with their online system-it automatically defaults to adding a tip (for take away!), that you may not notice until after you submit your order. Poke fish was never a sit down (ie, Service) restaurant. What exactly are you CHARGING me a tip for?!?! read more

As a Los Angeleno and an avid traveler I've had many types of poke, from many different establishments. This was by far the worst. I was apprehensive just from the photos but decided to give it a try anyway. I shouldn't have. I ordered a bowl with shrimp tempura and to my shock, the man making my bowl finished wiping down the food counter, went into the back room, and reappeared with a singular piece of shrimp tempura in the same hands he had used a moment earlier to wipe down the table. Even despite this all I figured it couldn't get worse, but then I tasted the bowl. It was awful. I threw it away after three sorrowful chopsticks full. I'll never go back. Food: They have Poke bowls, ramen, hibachi bowls, and select appetizers. -Poke bowls: your choice of white rice, brown rice, or salad + your choice of how many scoops of plain, marinated, or spicy raw fish (and/or tofu for the vegetarians out there :) ) + your choice of toppings (no limit at this point) + your choice of sauces. The boy typically goes for Salmon Lover or Rainbow Lover (a mix of tuna and salmon), and I usually go for a bowl of white or brown rice + two scoops of marinated salmon (so good!) and/or marinated yellowtail + cucumbers + seaweed salad + imitation crab salad + avocado + marinated mushrooms + dried seaweed strips, fried onion chips, and tempura crumbles + their poke sauce. You really can't go wrong with these. All their fish is super fresh and their marinades very good. - Ramen: my favorite is the pork ramen. A respectable bowl with three large slices of pork belly + lovely al dente ramen noodes + menma (marinated bamboo shoots) + seaweed + a nice not too salty broth. - Hibachi bowls: haven't tried yet because haven't strayed away from the poke bowls and ramen - yum! - Appetizers: have tried the edamame which is reasonably priced for a decent amount of salted edamame. Rather than tell you what I got, let me lay out why Poke Fish rocks: (1) They have four (4!!!) Calpico flavours: Original, Strawberry, Mango, and White Peach. THEY ARE ALL DELICIOUS. If you have never had it, please do yourself a solid and pick up Mango or White Peach!! EDIT: ACTUALLY there are 5!! I forgot about LYCHEE. (2) It's a poke place! The offerings they have for fish are: salmon, tuna, yellowtail (the latter of three come in either a marinated or spicy version), cooked scallops, and something else I forgot (shrimp?? but honestly scallops!!!). Depending on who is working at the time, you'll either get someone who loves and understands you and gives you a generous scoop of fish (I always get three, heh...) or someone who doesn't want to give you that much fish, which is fine because they definitely have a huge monopoly for this market in Ann Arbor so I am getting my poke fix here! The avocado helpings are pretty generous in my opinion. My recommendation is to go for the marinated fish but take some of that delicious spicy sauce in a container -- then you can get both the marinated and the spicy fish combinations later!) I'm glad that poke finally made its way to Ann Arbor. Poke Fish did not disappoint. The bowls were piled high and there was a nice selection of fresh ingredients to choose from. The structure of the establishment is optimal for a strip mall/college town, with a Chipotle-like assembly line to throw together your poke bowl right in front of your eyes. I have yet to try the hibachi bowls or ramen here, though it looked promising. The biggest gripe I have is the lack of seating in the restaurant, particularly at peak hours. There have been multiple occasions in which we set foot in the door only to turn right back around to leave because all the tables were occupied with a mounting line; and there was no way people would vacate in time for you to find a seat if you intend on dining in. That said, I would definitely be back for a poke fix on the regular. read more
