I Love this place. It is located in a strip mall on Washtenaw Avenue across from Arbor Land. It is a very tiny place, there are maybe 10 tables. I usually get carry out. So they have the option of a poke burrito or you can greens or rice as the base. in a bowl. The fish choices are tuna or salmon. You can get them plain or with teriyaki or another spice mix. The other ingredients to go in your poke bowl are all free, with the exception of an up charge for avocado. There are a variety of sauces to top your poke bowl with, I have only tried a couple. This place is a little hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall. The place was clean and organized. We were greeted by friendly staff at the counter and they assisted with any questions we had. They had a bar setup with anything you could possibly think of to put in your sushi burrito. Poke Fish is the newest addition to Ann Arbor's diverse collection of restaurants! I was surprised when I realized that Ann Arbor didn't have any poke places. I've been to MSU's campus in East Lansing and they have some solid poke there. Poke Fish is very conveniently situated near the highway exit on Washtenaw. It's a little hard to see from the road since it's in the middle of several shops in the plaza. The inside walls have a lot of cute Japanese styled graphics and art plus a good amount of seating. The food is fresh and tasty. You choose whether you want two or three scoops of protein and everything else comes with it, similar to any other make-your-meal type of restaurant. My personal favorite is a bowl with the spicy salmon and marinated salmon, topped with brown rice, mango, most veggies, crab salad, fried tempura, edamame, tofu, roe, and spicy mayo sauce. I would recommend two scoops of protein since the sides make it plenty of food. Pro Tip: if you build your own bowl, you typically get more food than the premade bowls since you can ask for extra toppings. read more

This place is over rated. I went today with my friends. We all felt that people who served behind the buffet were not friendly. One guy pretended not hear my questions. When I asked second time about the extract ingredient for my poke bowl, and he said " two dollars more, do you want it?" His tone had no patient at all. I did not like my white rice in my bowl, soft enough but no flavor. I had to add extra soy sauce for that. Sashimi was okay, but not fantastic. I asked some wasabi in order to eat them. Rainbow Bowl is $11.95. It is overpriced. I tried the beef ramen, the broth and noodle tasted okay. The soup was not hot enough for me. I am glad that I tried it. I love the concept of a Japanese style chipotle however the burritos are huge sushi roll ! I came in here before work because I was craving some Asian food! I was unsure about the burritos so I went to the safe side and order a hibachi chicken with friend rice! The rice was cooked to perfection and the taste was good ! It had a good amount of veggies ! The chicken was my favorite it was cooked amazingly and the taste of it was yummy! I am excited to come back and try one of those burritos or even their ramen. Are there many poke restaurants in Ann Arbor? No. Does that mean I should lower my standards? No. Poke Fish is a welcomed addition to the shopping plaza across from Arbor Land. However, I struggle to give this place more than 3 stars. I enjoyed my 2 scoop (spicy salmon + tuna) Poke Bowl for $10. However, the quantity of fish was lacking and it was hard as a customer to see all the possible ingredients I could use. Also, avocado cost $2 extra - I didn't know this was Chipotle. The ingredients and food did taste good - I just was expecting a lot more for what I paid. I'd discourage the hot food - my hibachi shrimp bowl had unclean (not de-veined) shrimp and was overly salty. In the end, it's nice to be able to get poke-style fish, however, it's a tough price to stomach especially with this small portions. read more

I've been here twice in the last 48 hours. Quite good for poke, not just for the area. I've had lots of California Poke, so I think I have a palette for taste comparison. Be prepared for crowds especially in the evening time.. so come early if you want an easy seat, although table turnover is pretty fast. Poke: Okay, so this is why we're here... if you haven't had poke, it's sashimi fish over rice/salad with toppings and sauce. It's actually quite healthy for you, especially if you opt for brown rice or salad. $9.95 for 2 scoops (standard portion), $11.95 for 3. Fish is fresh. Salmon is good, but I personally think the standout is the yellowtail. You can get all the fish marinated, spicy, or regular (as in not spicy or marinated). Standard bowl gets two scoops, so you can mix/match, or $2 extra for a third scoop. Haven't tried the (cooked) scallops but might be an option for next time. Toppings.. the masago (fish roe) is really good! Crab topping is okay, but since almost all toppings are free (including crab) - why not? Mango is sweet and fresh. My opinion - get all the toppings you like. My favorites: mango, edamame, corn, masago, crab, seaweed salad, tempura crunch. Sauce: Wasabi Aioli is the best sauce (unless you don't like wasabi). You can add the Poke sauce and soy sauce from squeeze bottles later (by the drinks). Menu: Poke, hibachi bowls (rice bowls with land meats and veggie), and ramen (chicken, beef, pork, or seafood). Also a handful of typical appetizers (gyoza, tako balls, etc.). Haven't tried the ramen yet but it looked pretty decent. Gyoza was 6 pieces for $3.99. Pretty good for what it is, but can pass in favor of more sashimi. Pricepoint: overall about what you'd pay elsewhere or less (poke and ramen are cheap!) Portion: Some reviews say not large enough portion - both times I've been here, I've been pretty stuffed, and I have a pretty large appetite. If you aren't stuffed, then just get brown rice instead of white - it'll fill you up faster. Pro Tips: 1) the burrito is messy. It's more of a sushirrito (wrapped in a seaweed square you'd use on a sushi roll). Falls apart a bit and the seaweed can be a bit chewy. 2) Get 1/2 white rice, 1/2 brown rice if you want to mix it up 3) Eat the poke with a spoon after you mix it up. It's easier. RAMEN Edit: Came back for ramen. I had the chicken rame, SO got the seafood. Quite impressed that a trendy grab and go establishment can do two different food types well! Usually if a place is good at one (that's in the name or it's main thing), the side food type won't be that great (unless it's one of those family places that have a huge menu). Think of those pan-asian places... The ramen was delicious and hearty portion sized. Better than at dedicated ramen places around here.. incl. Ann arbor. And at 9.95! The chicken was moist and tender, even with chicken breast. Noodles nice and chewy. Toppings.. egg (I'm allergic so I skipped), bamboo, scallion, seaweed, wood ear mushrooms, narutomaki. Seafood ramen had scallop, calamari, shrimp, and fake crabmeat. My only gripe is the bowl shape makes it difficult to get the food at the bottom and spoon soup (it's not a very wide bowl). Ramen bowls are usually wide so you can cool the temperature faster and evenly throughout the whole bowl of food. This is because ramen is meant to be eaten really quickly to maximize enjoyment of the noodle texture. Of course, you can always pickup the bowl and drink it! read more

This place is legit. We had the poke rainbow bowl, pork ramen and the shrimp habachi bowl. All super good. The ramen is probably the best I've had in Ann arbor. It's not too salty or bland. The soup is dead on and the noodle texture is perfect. I couldn't eat the poke bowl because I'm pregnant but my husband loves poke bowls and compares everything to hawaii. He said the seasoning/flavor is closer to Hawaii than what he had at Freds. He said hawaiis is still the best he's had but this is pretty close in flavor. My 2 yo son loved loved the shrimp habachi bowl. He was literally double spooning it and inhaling all the vegetables, fried rice and shrimp. I've made alot if fried rice but theirs is so good . The owners/workers here are the cheapest people I have ever encountered. My bowl was good, but it was not filling at all. I had to stop at Blaze right after. Usually when I eat a poke bowl, I can't even finish the whole thing. I get full easily so it is very concerning that I was not full. There is a charge for everything, even to grill something. This is bizarre. If someone wants their salmon grilled, there should not be a charge. They count every portion as if they are going to go out of business for giving out an extra slice. They put 3 slices of cucumber. I asked for pineapple and he counted out 2 pieces of pineapple. This was disgusting to watch. So sad. I had already paid and my boyfriend hadn't finished ordering, he wanted an extra scoop of crab salad and instead of just giving it to him, they wanted to charge him extra. We had already paid, saving 50 cents is really going to make or break your business! I regret tipping, they did not deserve it. It was also very overpriced for the amount of food that you received. I'm really disappointed. My boyfriend actually told me that another time they went he asked for extra mushrooms and they asked him how much he was willing to pay for it. He said he didn't know and they told him 5 bucks. 5 dollars for an extra scoop of mushrooms (that would actually be a full portion elsewhere). This place is ridiculous. The ingredients were fresh so I really wanted to like this place, but I cannot support such a cheap FAMILY business. Family businesses are usually the most giving! Totally overrated. I have tried better poke places, including one near my house in Troy. It is not a chain restaurant and they give huge portions without overcharging. I can't even finish a whole bowl there! Their poke is pretty darn good, having eaten poke in Washington D.C. and NYC their poke is quite similar. They have three main types of proteins served three way. They have Salmon, Tuna, and yellow tail, you can order each of these three raw, marinaded, and in spicy mayonnaise. In addition, you can also order tofu, shrimp, bay scallops, or calamari salad. You can get your poke as a rice bowl, sushi burrito, or as a salad. In addition, to the protein they have a variety of toppings from edamame, seaweed salad, crab salad, cucumbers, jalapeños, mangoes, and kale. You can also add your own sauces and toppings, really enjoy the poke here and so glad Ann Arbor finally has one. Note we ordered hibachi for our kids as they do not eat poke yet. Their hibachi although cheap is horrible, zero taste and flavor. The meat taste like it never touched a marinade, they do not give you any teriyaki or yum yum sauce and they give you a few broccoli and carrots hardly what you would expect a real hibachi restaurant. Hands down super happy that there's a place to order Poke Bowl and Pork Ramen. I was super excited to try this place but was also very concerned since it was ANN ARBOR. AA doesn't have the best Poke Bowl or sushi so I lowered my expectations. I went with my friends and it was honestly better than what I expected. Not as amazing as Chicago, but WAY better than the one on North Campus. The Pork Ramen was also delicious. The broth is a bit thick and heavy, but it's better than being watered down. The portions are also huge considering the price. WORTH IT. However, I decided to go again the next day with my boyfriend. The Poke Bowl was delicious and this time, the portion seemed a bit bigger. YAY! However, the Pork Ramen was salty. It wasn't as heavy but it was much saltier than yesterday. Although he didn't mind, I wish it wasn't as salty. I ordered a $9.95 Salmon Lover Poke Bowl, which consisted of two (a little on the small side) scoops of salmon (one regular and one spicy), white or brown rice, and your usual assortment of poke bowl ingredients such as crab salad, mango, edamame, corn, cucumber, masago, onion crisps, roasted seaweed, and Poke special sauce. There was the option to build your own bowl as well. The brown rice was good, the fish quality was satisfactory, and the rest of the ingredients were decent except the onion crisps which weren't that crunchy and added an underwhelming texture to the poke bowl experience. Overall, there was still that enjoyable combination of a variety of flavors and textures that make me love poke bowls so much, but there just wasn't anything that memorable about the meal. Ultimately, I recommend trying out Poke Fish if you're in the area and are really craving a poke bowl or haven't tried one before. Seaweed salad was probably bought from a food service...it was OK, but a little too sweet for my taste. Edamame were cooked perfectly, but someone forgot the salt. :( There were lots of families eating dinner (Saturday night) and quite a few people getting takeout. I've been here a few times and their poke keeps calling me back. The fish is a good quality with a tasty marinade, the rice is always cooked perfectly, the toppings are plentiful and fresh and the sauces add good flavoring to the bowl. This trip I got one scoop of tuna and one of salmon with a brown rice base. On it I went with sweet onion, edamame, mango, masago, seaweed salad, pickled ginger and wasabi. Every element was really good. Fish was great, the wasabi was strong and had a smooth texture. I had their poke special sauce which is soy sauce based and a very good option. I want to give the eel sauce a try next time. My only "complaint" is that they need bigger bowls. Once I get everything on it, it's a little hard to mix it up in their current bowls. read more
