    Kanbu Burrito
    Jessica L.

This place is iconic for their sushi burritos. They give huge portions and it comes with a side of miso. Their Kanbu Burrito is their most popular, but their other options are good too. The server was very nice to us and was quick to bring out the food. The table we were sitting at was made of wood and gave a nice ambience of Japandi style decor. Not too busy either! The only thing to note is that the entrance to the restaurant is inside the building complex.

First, I appreciate that they stayed open a touch late for us - I misread the business hours and so we came in before they closed, but not by much. The place was very clean, and service was fast. The sushi was just alright though - we did order one or two spicy rolls, but the spice level was very high - I couldn't finish eating because it was so spicy! And I can usually deal with a moderate amount of spice. Would recommend them for their cleanliness and quality, but definitely make sure you are ready for some heat if you order a spicy roll!

We've visited Kanbu twice and both times we've loved our food. We've had the spicy seafood udon in the past and it was yummy but we love the sushi so we prioritize that. Their salmon is so fresh and buttery. Just delicious! We've always visited on off times and the service is standard. The atmosphere is casual but nice.

Stopped over here as soon as I heard they had sushi burritos on the menu. A very small and hidden restaurant with very cheap options, you'd be looking at spending 16$ for a sushi burrito which is on the cheaper end. For the price it was great but the ingredients were not as fresh as I was expecting and the burrito comes with one free sauce which came in a small cup and was hard to eat with my burrito. The food came out very quickly and the overall ambiance was very relaxing and the restaurant as a whole was nicely decorated with dimmed lighting to enhance the dining experience.

sushi burritos! kanbu sushi in downtown ann arbor is seriously one of my new favorites! their sushi burritos are so yummy -- super fresh, super flavorful, and always made fast. my go-to is the shrimp festival burrito with spicy mayo... it's the perfect mix of crunchy, creamy, and satisfying in every bite. even though the restaurant was buzzing with people, the vibe stayed calm and relaxed, making it such an easy, enjoyable place to grab a meal. if you love sushi (or just want something fun and different), kanbu sushi is absolutely worth a stop 〽

Delicious Age Dashi Tofu. Tried the Philadelphia Burrito which was very filling and yummy. Added red tobiko which was a great addition. Nice and attentive service with a good atmosphere.

    Scotland Burrito

Ordered a Scotland burrito and it was absolutely delicious!!! Also a very big portion, so I'm excited about the leftovers. Great service and cute place. Would highly recommend :)

Salmon in rolls is not fresh and tastes spoiled. Salmon in Bento box is very good. Very disappointing.

Came here last minute craving for sushi. The baked and seared michigan roll was very good. Also ordered Philly, tuna, and yellowtail all tasty. Will go back and try other sushi

I only ordered takeout from here because I was craving a sushi burrito. First let me say this, they DO NOT skimp on the protein in the burrito! The staff is really nice and offered me a place to sit and a glass of water while I waited for my takeout. Their pricing is reasonable and I will be returning for dine in. The menu is a little overwhelming with options especially since there are no photos.

Very interesting menu and sushi but yummy and fresh! Really great service and friendly people. It is very nice inside and well decorated. I had a specialty roll (mango roll) which was delicious but no seaweed, instead wrapped in sticky rice that was very sweet. They have good combo deals for lunch such as three simple rolls for $16.50 with salad and miso soup, but the miso wasn't too flavorful. I would definitely go back!

Excellent and attentive service! Pristine restaurant. Delicious sushi. I had the lunch combination special with 3 rolls, and loved every bite! I had the spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and salmon avocado cucumber roll. My lunch special also came with tasty miso soup and salad. My friend loved her poke bowl and it looked gorgeous. They have a gluten free menu too.

Y'all know that when it comes to sushi, my heart is loyal to Godaiko. I met a group of friends here and took a risk. This used to be the old Nagomi sushi. I like this place better. It's located next to the infamous Afternoon Delight. The dining area is rather small, but they have a beautiful, wood filled modern aesthetic. They were able to accommodate our party of 7 and were very prompt and friendly. Although many of the rolls looked unique and intriguing for sure, I went with the bulgogi. It was fabulous. It was accompanied by warm rice and a ginger salad. I washed it down with a taro boba. The boba was tasty, but they need a larger circumference straw to enable you to suck the boba out. All of the options that my friends got looked great, too. I may return to risk one of their warm cheese topped rolls or a burrito.

The sweet chili sauce is perfect. Thai Peanut Noodles (4/5): The noodles had great texture and the Thai peanut sauce was delicious. Shrimp Shumai (4/5): Really enjoyed the wonton wrapper. Shrimp flavor came through nicely. Limited time special. House Salad (4/5): Light and fresh. The soy based dressing was sweet, slightly acidic, and not at all overpowering. Warm Chocolate Cake (4/5): Delicious cake with a warm, gooey inside. I personally don't like coconut or chocolate and fruit desserts, but I still enjoyed this a lot. Creme Brulee Tasting (4/5) : Green tea, pumpkin spice, and ginger creme brulees. Loved getting to try a little bit of each flavor (green tea was my favorite). Spiced Caramel Pear (3/5): Not my favorite since I don't generally like cooked fruit. The mascarpone cream and shortbread were good though. This place is aligned fairly well though with food in Korea though ie not highly westernized. This place is in the center of the college area on Liberty and State street. The selection is not extensive but the basics are here including BBQ. Side dishes are decent, Kimchi, which is fundamental to any Korean meal and varies by region, is always included and people have strong opinions about. Theirs is OK but not top notch. Other side dishes are decent. Whatever we ordered, BBQ, Yuk Gae Jang, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (Rice. Vegetables and beef inn stone pot), other was pretty good.....just like Seoul Garden used to be before ownership change. We used to go almost exclusively to Seoul Garden near the mall off Boardwalk but after ownership change stopped as the taste changed significantly and not for the better. Its nice to have The Seoul is an option. They have beer and soju (Ubiquitous Korean liquor in Korea that along with Kimchi is many Koreans blood) Environment of the restaurant is modern but still a bit cozy. Overall, definitely worth a try. While we are at it, I have spent allot of time in Japan on business (some vacationing too) and I know it's trendy to go there now especially with the exchange rate, and by all means go, allot to see and experience (and eat!) there. The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.

The ambiance is kind of a sterile, trendy vibe, but not in a good way? They have the Love Island neon signs in the bathroom (and the awful Dyson air blade hand dryer sinks that just blow gross public sink water into your face unexpectedly) and it feels like it's toeing the line between wanting to be upscale and also accommodate the college crowd. I don't know. I could forgive all the weird vibes if the food were better. I will say their tacos are quite large; so don't expect a typical street taco. I had a hard time eating three and I'm a pretty hungry person. So I'd order two, especially if you have any kind of app or side. I would not order the mahi mahi one again. There was SO MUCH (bland) fish in there it fell apart.
