First time visit and it probably won't be my last. Food was fresh and I love all of the choices. My daughter and I were greeted upon entry and thanked at exit. The cashier was sweet and I always prefer tablet payment. I ordered the small salad bowl and my daughter ordered the rice bowl. The price was descent but I wasn't expecting to still be a little hungry. There is actually a poke bowl that I've eaten elsewhere that I prefer but it's at a full service restaurant so I will return here when I need a quicker meal. The guy that was filling my bowl could have been a little more friendly. We were the only ones there and he didn't even crack a smile. Very clean and parking is easy. The food is good but we were met with attitude right from the beginning. This blond woman had a real snarky disposition and we all felt it. I spent $70 on lunch for my family and was super disappointed in how we were treated. Also no soap in the bathroom and the tables and chairs were dirty. I am so disappointed with my order from this place. I tried a pokeritto and the lobster roll. The pokeritto was rolled so poorly. I opened the wrapping and chunks of salmon were falling out because it wasn't wrapped all the way... tears... overall quality of both items was underwhelming. I am assuming that the lobster roll had excessive mayo to cover the lack in quality? For a $30 order (before tax and tip) I expected so much more. This is my go to lunch/dinner place. The poke is fantastic. I usually get half rice, half salad with ahi tuna, salmon, tossed in eel sauce, with almost everything on it. (Avocado, crab meat, edamame, corn, sesame seeds, garlic, red onion, green onion, jalapeño, masago) They also have seaweed salad, wasabi and ginger for more options. This was my first time going to a poke place that was chipotle style. I felt adventurous so I chose tuna and scallops as my protein. It was good but I feel I would have enjoyed salmon more. I guess I was craving something more of a smooth texture. The tuna was a little meaty for my liking. As for the baby scallops, I think I enjoy them more when they are bigger and cooked. For my sides, I had crab salad and seaweed salad. For me, the sides were my favorite. I always love me a good seaweed salad. For the sauce, I recommend the house poke but go light on this as it is packed with flavor. One employee was exceptionally nice. They mix old protein with new protein. I had a few bites of slimy fish with horrible taste then fresh ones. Portions are okay, the toppings are a bit boring and need to add more variety. I feel like they jipped a lot on protein scoops. The kids upfront need to smile more & be friendly. I saw the owners there watching over them, I hope they continue to develop their business and not take any shortcuts. As a business owner myself I commend them for opening something that was missing in the area. But definitely has room for improvement if they address it now. I work in San Diego in the Kearny Mesa area soooo there is poke one n a half and pokiritto are close by. I wanted to try this place since I now live in the area.....um ya I should of not. They barely have any fish options, imitation crab is extra?! Yea no I can validate your Avocado but fake crab no. Also the containers are tiny, luckily I got it to go so poured it in a bowl at home. My fiance who isn't as picky as me said yea it taste weird I said I agree. We're just use to Kearny Mesa poke and have had too many times to count. Passed this place while coming to shop at Hobby Lobby and it looked really appealing from the outside. Cute designs and advertises being healthy so that's what my sister and I were currently on the hunt for for a place to eat. When you first walk in the place is extremely clean and kind of has a chipotle restaurant look to it, along with how the menu is set up. You're able to pick a base of rice, salad, or a half and half option. Then you move on to picking out a fish and you get two types of fish options. They have quite a variety and I was excited to try this place. But the amount of fish they give you on top of a ton of the rice and salad was extremely disappointing. I asked if we were able to get more on top of it because it was literally like four pieces of fish on top of this huge amount of rice and they said an extra scoop would be $1.50 extra. Honestly I can go to a different place and get twice as much for the same price. The staff there is not very welcoming, no smiling whatsoever, and it's just super uninviting, with plain blank stares. No one is wearing name tags as well. Doesn't make me wanna come back here. My sister was buying lunch and for the prices and the amount of food were getting it wasn't worth it to me, I'm there for the fish not for the extreme amount of rice and salad. For how much fish they put on my sisters bowl I decided not to get the one I was gonna get, no point in making her waste that money. When I told the guy worker that was helping me that I didn't want it anymore he literally stared me down, giving me what felt like a death glare, no answer back to me and took it in the back. The food itself was pretty good even though it was basically hair a huge amount of rice and a couple pieces of fish. Also overhearing another customer come in asking for the macaron ice cream sandwiches they offer here and they don't even have them yet. Shouldn't be on the menu then. Absolutely amazing! Service was great, food was fresh, restaurant was clean. My sister and I had no idea what to do as it was our first time and one of the servers explained to us the best combinations and how it works. I truly appreciate a good and patient staff member. Food was fresh, which is good because it is fish haha. They also have a freezer filled with macaroon ice cream sandwiches. They looked amazing, but I was stuffed from the bowl I got! Definitely trying them next time though. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area and want to try something other than your usual sushi.
