A cute clean little poke establishment in the small mall strip right across from my favorite Thai restaurant. I was craving a poke bowl after my gym session and found this joint. I sacrificed not going to my favorite poke spot just to give this place a try and compare the flavors. So this is what I have to say... Ordered a Small with two protein sides ($8.50), tuna and spicy tuna (ordered the same as I order at 8oz Poke), jalapenos, smelt eggs, crab salad, cucumbers, avocado (extra $1), house sauce (more on the sweeter side), spicy mayo topped with sesame seeds, chili oil, crispy garlic and onions. The fish did taste fresh and in it's entirety was not bad. The only thing i'm going to complain about is the onions crumbles. It lacked the taste of the onion and they were too small. The establishment like I said was clean. The customer service was there. The nice young man that helped me out was patient and also helped me with my questions. Will I be back? Well let's see... my total for a small poke here was $10.80 with not so bad but still leaning towards good poke compared to my favorite place a small for $10? I hate to leave bad reviews and being from the service industry, it takes a lot to push me to the point of leaving a negative review. I appreciate good service and the care and hard work someone puts into providing this service, and really any service related item/product. I know how hard the food/restaurant industry is so it is mind blowing that this wasn't addressed a long time ago. I stopped by at 12:36 pm to order food for my co-workers and myself. The nice woman behind the counter greeted me and said she would be right with me. She was preparing what I can only assume was a "pick up" order. The restaurant was empty. I said, "no problem, may I use your bathroom" to which she replied, "yes, of course". As I walked up to the bathroom I noticed the black finger print stains covering the exterior of the door, so many that the door was black in at least 12" from the handle out and I am guessing 2'0 horizontally. So disgusting. This definitely took months if not years to accumulate to that degree. I wish I took a photo, it was that bad! I was skeeved out but had to go so bad that I went inside. Thank God I did, because wow! There was urine in the toilet unflushed along with urine in the floor in front of the toilet. The inside of the door was also black with finger prints and the door handle dirty. There was thick Ajax caked on the toilet brush that was sitting next to the toilet. The handle to flush was dirty and the mirror (the least egregious item) looked like it had not been cleaned in days, and there were no paper towels to dry my hands off with, so I used my elbow to push the handle down and my elbow to open the door. As I exited the nice lady at the counter asked me if I was ready to order and I told her politely I was leaving and why. My goal here isn't to destroy a business reputation but to protect patrons from food poisoning and to give feedback to whomever owns this business that that is unacceptable. Cleanliness is essential in the food industry. If you've ever experienced food poisoning, one time is enough. If your restaurant is dead during peak business hours, lunch and dinner, it's you, not your patrons. There is a reason. I am 100% sure this is why there wasn't anyone ordering food at lunch time. Thank GOD I stopped by to pick this up myself rather than order Grub Hub! Wow! This makes me never want to blindly trust reviews until I've inspected the site and how clean it is! read more

I'm so tired of mediocre poke places. I've found that most of them are either hit or miss. I know this one is new but it's definitely a miss. It doesn't seem like they have any clue what sushi-grade fresh fish should taste or look like. The fish here is honestly gross. I ordered a large bowl here with ahi tuna, salmon, scallops & spicy tuna. The ahi tuna was a light pink color and not good quality at all. The salmon was the most disgusting- completely inedible! It had no marbling and seemed like it had just thawed from being frozen. The scallops were the only decent protein. The rice, toppings/add-ins, and sauces were all really good though. The yuzu ponzu sauce was good. It threw me off because the rest of the bowl was tasty, just not the most important ingredients: the fish! I would NOT come here again. As the chipotle of seafood, Poke Rainbow is my favorite poke place even though there are more than enough options in Glendale/Burbank (where I live). The customer service here is A+ because they're not in a rush to serve you and scoot you down the line. The workers actually make that cute Trader Joes-like small talk and make your day a little better. Again, toppings and sides are a huge list, which is why I order a small in a medium box. Most poke places cause worry of health violations especially raw fish at room temperature. This place has not disappointed. Overall, you can tell the workers love working here and the owner keeps his employees happy and establishment run well. Me and my husband went to Los Angeles for vacation, we found this Poke Rainbow restaurant and it was our first time to try Poke, I immediately fell in love with the food because I'm a big fan of seafood and sushi, and this is like a fast but more delicious version of Sushi! My husband was never a seafood kinda person but surprisingly he loved his Poke bowl too! I highly recommend their house special sauce and the steamed sweet eggs. Cool fresh and tasty poke. They have all sorts of fresh see food and to go with it, fresh rice or veggies. They build your bowl with you. You can select all the goodies you like! Ask for another scoop of edamame masago or see weed salad, and they will serve it how you like it. I tend to go for the biggest bowl, with greens as the base plus extra protein. They even have the traditional octopus poke and many kind of fish (Salmond and ahi being my preference). The scallops were fresh and tasted amazing. Spicy mayo is my all time favorite flavour for poke. Theirs is quite worth the detour. You can build your own sauce too with a blend of sesame or ginger shoyu, teriyaki, etc.: they have lots of different ones worth trying out. After 10 poke bowls you get one free which is neat. If you crave a good Hawaiian style poke bowl, go for it! The restaurant open exactly on time and staff was friendly. Must try! read more

For a poke place situated where it is I was really setting my expectations pretty low, but I'm glad that Poke Rainbow exceeded it! The fish tasted fine and there's endless ways to customize it. I think what I love best is that despite all the customization the sauces were fairly light and I could actually taste the fish. Most poke isn't cheap. And when you add all the toppings and mix everything, the portion is huge. To all yelpers complaining about parking-this shouldn't be part of your review. Sometime during April 3-7 at the Ventura location, we had a great, medium poke bowl for the 2 of us. It was quite tasty and the fish was fresh. There were no other customers there at the time. Our server, Joshua, was very friendly and we enjoyed his service and interaction. There was another employee, an older woman, sitting back-behind the counter who was unfriendly and scowling at us....it created an uncomfortable atmosphere. I can only imagine how unpleasant it must be to work with her for a shift. We will return because the food was good, but I hope the scowling woman isn't around. read more
