I don't like bad reviews but I have tried to like this place. Bought a to-go lunch for a co-worker and it is like $45.00. Menu is confusing, all options are really expensive, too much food, and the taste is between just okay and not okay. The facility itself is very nice with great indoor seating. People working there are doing their best, seems like a big ask to have people line up to spend $20 on a lunch bowl of stuff that does not have any real flavor profile, just a bunch of stuff in a bowl. I have tried both locations, same same.. I have had high hopes since the owners do so well with their Japanese/Asian restaurant. The people who like this place, please enjoy but it is just not something I find equatable so I said it. I don't think they will change so I most likely will not be back anytime soon but for sure up to you to decide. read more

We were really looking forward to having some good poke around Palm Desert and found this spot. The poke was delicious, but unfortunately the service here was terrible. The lady who served us was not very welcoming or friendly, and seemed like she'd rather be done with us already the whole time she was asking us what we wanted in our bowls. The place was empty, so I'm not sure why she was very impatient. We got two large bowls that came with three scoops of protein each and we ended up getting maybe just two scoops worth all in all with how very little fish she scooped and gave us. I've always liked the food here, but this visit was disappointing. I was told I had to pay $0.75 for each item if I wanted rice, toppings, or dressing on the side, which feels unreasonable, especially since I have food sensitivities and sometimes need items separated. I live in Los Angeles and have never encountered a policy like this anywhere else. My friend's poke bowl was also ruined because the mango wasn't drained and made the whole bowl watery. Wow. I'll start with that! Or usual poke place was closed, so we ventured over here. Javier was really friendly and helpful. So big score for him. The bowl was a perfect size. The difference between regular and large was number of protein choices, not size. Yet, either way, you're going to be happy. Ample servings for your ingredients and they are all served from a clean and light space. We got two bowls and gave a tip, as you should for awesomeness, and spent $25. We walked in at 8 o'clock, and the large build girl behind the counter gave us a rude look as if not to come in 30 minutes before closing. All the chairs were put up on the counters so there was nowhere to sit. Upon ordering, I asked if she could, please avoid the white stringy pieces of tuna and she completely ignored me and put it in my bowl. She then begins ushering an employee to lock the doors to not have anyone else come in the restaurant while we were still ordering. The five of us got here around 4pm to celebrate. We each ordered then sat down. There was only 1 employee, so we each received our food one at a time, with lots of time in between, so we did not get to eat together. I ordered (2) rolls of spicy tuna, which came to 24.00. Even those came out one at a time. My sushi rolls were warm instead of cold. My wasabi and the ginger both came in packets, even though they had lots of fresh ginger for the bowls. I got 5 small cuts of salmon and I included my picture for what my portion was of spicy tuna... this was it. I then asked to pay for extra crab salad just to have some protein. The other staff there has been amazing, it was just way way off today. Disappointed and she really was off in manners too. She seemed annoyed that I was there. The quality has gone down on the ingredients and the service. I ordered 3 bowls and a roll but when we picked up our order the roll was missing. I called the store the same day and they said I can pick it up but I shouldn't have to drive back and just wanted a refund. They said I had to go to the store to get the refund and I insisted they give me a refund on the card I paid with online. They said I had to call back when the manager was there 3 hours from when I called. Not ordering from here again. read more

I spend at least a couple hundred bucks a month here and today my kid decided to try a sauce on his bowl (full size) that does not list as spicey. It was and he couldn't eat it. After spending almost $40 inclusive of tip the manager would not replace the bowl for him, literally said I have to charge you again. OMG. I got mad insisted he call the owner, he did and finally they made him a new bowl. So sad they cannot train their staff better to be kind and helpful to their customers. Have been going to the PD location as it has been my favorite for years! However today I ordered 4 bowls, all of which I noticed where half full (notice I'm trying to stay positive)... prices are not reduced, but ingredients given are? If you look at previous pictures they were generous with their portions, but now they are not (as you can see from my pictures). I'm sure this is more of a reflection from management rather than the employees (who were very nice like always) as mine were not the only bowls I noticed short on ingredients! I am seriously considering not coming back, I know COVID hit hard, but come on! How much does it cost for rice?? Couldn't even spare a bit more to "fill in" the plate? It wouldn't be so bad if we weren't paying $14-$16 a plate... also, take note that I paid extra for extra crab salad! If you like spending your money on small portions, be my guest, but if you expect a nice full poke bowl... best do like me and start looking for a new place to go to! read more

Staff is super nice! I already went home to cathedral city because this location is the closest to me. I took a bite of my food and it was super spicy. The guy accidentally put some hot yuzu oil or something because my uncle got some in his. I can't handle any spice (not even hot Cheetos). So we drove back to Palm desert and let him know and he had no issue remaking it for me. He was super sweet and eating my new bowl back at home, it was so heavenly! I love Pokehana! My apologies but the pandemic has made me quite lazy about writing reviews. This review occured around the month of September as I was volunteering for the LPGA tournament in Rancho Mirage. I wanted to try some poke and I found this place on Yelp (once again thanks). I always create my own bowl as one gets the ingredients that one likes. I started with a large bowl. I added white rice, cucumber, tomato, hijiki seaweed, tuna, salmon, seaweed, corn, shredded nori, corn, mango, crispy garlic and topped with hana dressing and wasabi citrus dressing (light on the dressing). Service was great like almost all poke restaurants that I have visited and the ingredients tasted very fresh. I must admit I will visit the store again when I am back there in April 2021. read more

I was in Palm Desert and really wanted pokey so I looked and saw this place so I decided to give it a try. I should've known better. I'm a very experienced sushi, eater and pokey eater and the salmon and the rest of the fish just looked like it had been sitting there for quite some time. However, I went for it, and I was really disappointed. I've never had more Fisher tasting fish in my life it was gross. And I started feeling ill after I ate it. Great food & Service! Like another customer, I felt that the music was too loud above head when I tried to order. Fortunately, I told them about it & they instantly & graciously corrected the issue. I really felt like they want this place to be the best it can be since they lowered the volume a bit & had been making sure our needs, like extra sauce, were met throughout the meal. Got a free Iced Tea with checkin and it was yummy! I had to mix the Blueberry (Labeled Lemonade) with the Tea in the middle...Can't remember the name of the tea... Fresh food, fun place. Great for a hot day. Here, you get to customize your own bowl, and there are tons of choices. I'm a vegetarian, and this was the only place around where I could find any tofu! The flavors were great, and I left full, even though I had enough food left over for two more meals! My husband, a seafood lover, really enjoyed his food, too. Will definitely return. read more

I love poke and have not had any bad experiences with Pokehana but this time around was a terrible experience. I ordered ahi tuna and octopus as my proteins along with half spring mix and half brown rice with various other toppings. The octopus was chewy, but that's pretty typical of octopus and the ahi tuna tasted fine. Everything else seemed okay until that night...and the next morning and again that morning and one more time after that. Not sure what was bad but something definitely was based on the explosive bathroom experiences I had. The staff was very nice and helpful while putting together the order so don't take this as a reflection on them. They get 5 stars. The restaurant appeared to be clean as well. There were no dirty tables upon arrival so kudos to the staff again for keeping the eating area clean. read more
