This is my all time favorite take out meal! Fresh yummy and filling. Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend Poki Run.

This place is one of the better Poke places in Milpitas. The restaurant itself always has this kind of weird smell once you walk in, but you get over it after a few minutes. There are lots of choices, but the regular size will honestly fill you right up. I always get the brown rice with veggies, and my trick is to get them to put a bit of house sauce over the veggies so that the salad isn't too plain. You get three choices of protein which is quite a lot. They almost always have salmon and tuna, with some variety or specials like spicy tuna or crab. All are pretty fresh. You also get a choice of some pretty great toppings and avocado I think is free, as well as another scoop of imitation crab. There's edamame, nori, sesame seeds, and more. The portions are huge, I can barely finish a regular so props to the people who finish a large. If you get a drink, your total will come out to around 15-16 dollars which is a bit pricey for lunch. Either way, I've been here more than 5 times and have never been disappointed so far! read more

LOOOOVE THIS PLACE. This place has been my go-to for poke for so many years now (like 3 or 4) and the quality has always been amazing. Flavors of the sauces and the mango mayo are so good and I miss it so much when I'm away in OC. Even their sushi rice just tastes better than anywhere else. Wow am I impressed! I walked into Poki Run after a long day at work and was starving. A coworker suggested the spot and I was iffy because I am VERY picky on poke. A little on the pricey side but they make up for it by letting you choose 3 protein scoops. Staff was super friendly and the quality is AMAZING. The fish is fresh and cut right. Out of the many "pick and choose" styled poke restaurants in the South Bay, this one is at definitely high on my list. Extremely generous portions and ingredients, that you would normally have to pay extra for at other restaurants (i.e wakame salad, edamame, etc.) Fish quality has never disappointed me. Every visit has been consistently fresh! Their signature house sauces are amazing. They're not heavy nor excessively oily, like some competing poke restaurants - but does not lack in flavor. What I'll normally order is their house sauce, sesame oil, hot sauce, and spicy mayo mixed together with my fish, onions, and cucumbers. I am assuming the restaurant is owned family owned. I went to lunch here last week and I was impressed with the quality of the fish, toppings, and the great customer service the workers provided. It is more of a mom and pop shop and you could tell based off the quality of everything. The fish tasted really fresh and the staff was very patient about explaining their options and making your poke bowl with care. Many other poke places I've been to try to rush you through the line because they are so busy, but I did not feel rushed at Poki Run at all. They have all the normal toppings and sauces that any other poke place would have. Everything I tried was delicious!! I will definantly be stopping in here again. read more

However, they lack a wide variety of proteins (I want unagi and tako!!) and crunch (wontons anyone?). Overall, the shop is clean and staff is friendly. This place is pretty close to my office and I went here with some coworkers! I was a bit turned off when I walked in as it smelled heavily of cleaning supplies - and as someone with a really sensitive nose this made me a bit nauseous. But it soon faded away after sitting there for a while - suppose I just got used to the smell. I ordered the combo plate with a side of avocado rolls - mostly cause I was craving avocado. I soon found out you can get an avocado scoop (FOR FREE), so unless you're hungry I would skip the rolls and just get that scoop instead. The fish was really fresh and I thought overall the portion size was good, especially for the price you pay. They also have a fridge full of fun drinks so that's always an option if you're up for that. Would definitely recommend if you're up for poke in the area. read more

My boyfriend wanted to take me here for my birthday, but at that time: I was so SICK of poki which I didn't think was possible.. but, my lovely friend from Texas choose this place while visiting so I finally got to try. I actually wished their was a smaller option then their small or just two portion option just because it was a lot. I thought their options and scoops were nice. In terms of the everything overall: I say it's my favorite place although my friends prefer Poke House: which is very good in taste and everything in general, but it's way too much but you can really pack a lot there. That's probably my second favorite place and it's a bit further but it is an in between location for my friends in San Jose and Milpitas friends. However I don't know if it's just because I've been gone for so long (3 months to be exact): Poki Run's proteins tasted a lot fresher than Poki House. And it's near my house and a minute away of a drive from my best friend's house.. so I'd probably gravitate towards here if any of my Milpitas friends were craving poki. Can't believe I haven't written a review for my FAVORITE poke place yet. What's there not to love? Free avocados and seaweed salad!?! Have never been to a poke place that gives those out for free. The price is also cheaper than other poke places. 3 scoops of protein for less than $11. They have 4 bases - black, brown, and sushi rice, and greens. I always get the black rice and greens since it's a healthier but still tasty option. My favorite fish options from here would be the spicy tuna and spicy salmon - soo tasty!! I get a scoop of either regular tuna or regular salmon as well. They have this extra spicy sauce that's actually pretty spicy! If you want it spicyyy, get this sauce. If you're craving spicy poke bowl, come here! They have spicy salmon and spicy tuna protein options. They also have plenty of spicy sauces to top it all off. The great thing is the avocado is included as a topping and NOT additional!!! The only additional cost is the flying fish eggs. The regular size was perfect because they pack it with plenty of rice and leafy salad (your choice if you want that). I came here after a long day of work starving but it turned out the regular size was more than filling to my satisfaction! There were a few favorite proteins/sides I normally get with my poke dish. I did wish they had but I will be thankful for their avocado! ;) They have counters and tables you can sit at to eat your dish. I've been coming here for over a year and I'm surprised I've never written a review. Poki Run is one of the better poke places in Milpitas. It's located in the same plaza where Orchard's use to be and there's tons of parking. It's really easy to find. The space in general is a good size. Any time I've come to buy food, there's always tables to sit at and the line isn't very long. I usually come after lunch hours so that might be why, haha. I've also noticed that people get the poke to go which is a nice option. I think they're family owned? I read it in another review. But everyone is really friendly! They're courteous and I kind of get a mom & pop feel from this place. Now, as for the menu, it's your typical "chipotle style" poke place. You can choose between white rice, brown rice, black rice or salad. I actually really love the black rice and it supposedly has a ton of nutrients and health benefits for you. Depending on what size you get I think you can choose between 3 scoops of fish of 5 scoops?? I don't remember exactly but it's around that range. You also have to option to get a combo which includes a sushi roll. The fish options are what you would usually expect, salmon, tuna albacore, spicy tuna, etc. Then you are able to choose your sides which is also pretty standard: crab meat, avocado, massage, seaweed salad, etc. What's nice about it is that they don't charge extra for avocado and seaweed salad like other places do. The price is decent as well, I don't think most people would spend more than $15 unless you order extra or ask for a combo. Poki Run is just an all around good poke place in the bay area. It's not going to make you feel like you're back in Hawaii but compared to other places, the fish is nice quality & not chewy, good options of sides and really friendly people. read more

Anyone who knows me well knows I absolutely love avocados! This is the only poke place I've visited that includes avocado with their poke bowls without an additional charge. I love ordering both the avocado roll and the CA roll. I can't choose a favorite so I alternate my choices each time I visit. The quality of their fish is great here. You know fish isn't of the greatest quality when you walk in and it smells like fish. When I walk in, because of the open doors, I small Milpitas. Does anyone else feel like the city of Milpitas smells? The service here is worthy of mention because they're always so friendly. My bf and I always fight to pay and they tease us about it. I ordered a regular bowl with spicy salmon & shrimp. The spicy salmon, albeit flavorful, seemed like it had been sitting out too long - it wasn't as tender as I had expected. This place is, in my opinion, the most solid poke spot in south bay. It's a toss up with Poke Poke Fish Bar and Spoonfish Poke. I appreciate that they include avocado and seaweed salad in their bowls, but the portion is pretty small, and you'll end up paying the same price as other places that you pay for those add-ons. The customer service is pretty good. You'll always be greeted and thanked. One of the owners is really sweet. I was given a miso soup on the house one time, which was a nice gesture. This place isn't really cheaper than other spots, but I've never had a bad visit. The portions here are pretty small, but I'm also a fatass and probably..definitely eat more than the average person. You can always ask for a little more rice if you want a more filling bowl. It's always fresh and consistent, unlike a lot of other spots. You know what you're going to get when you come here. The three unique things about this place are: apple slices, blueberry mayo, and mango mayo. All three are great! Surprisingly a new gem in my hometown. Living in SF, this place is far better than anything in the city. First you can choose your size, 3 scoops or 5 scoops. Then your fish. My favorites are the salmon and tuna. I also usually add a scoop of the spicey crab. What I love most about this place are the toppings. I usually get another side of crab, avocado, seaweed salad, onions, and sesame seeds. They have a few other options, but these are my go-to's. The only sad thing is that they are closed on Sunday's. Hands down my favourite poke place in the Bay Area! The ingredients taste super fresh every visit! I usually get a regular bowl and they are so generous with the portion that I can eat a regular bowl for two meals! I recommend getting the black/purple rice and also their sushi rice. I'm not sure why but their sushi rice just stands out to me. It just tastes so good, better than a lot of sushi places. Don't underestimate the power of perfectly cooked rice yo. I also recommend getting the yellow tail fish and their seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was so good, I bought a small box of it home. At the end of building your bowl, you get to add on different mayos, and I recommend the blueberry mayo. It just adds a really nice touch to your meal. What I love about this place too is that they usually add some sort of fruit into the drinking waterat the side so the water is really refreshing. The place has cute decos here and there. The workers there are also really friendly and generous too. Unfortunately, this place is far from where I live, if not I would come here almost every week to get my poke fix. In fact, I usually don't eat inside of poke restaurants due to the cluttering feeling. But I sat down on a table for this one. I consider myself a semi-regular at this poki location now. In the past, they disappointed me with their proportions but I decided to give them another try. I don't regret coming back here. Their fish or "protein" tastes fresh and despite the size of the small scoop, they give an abundant amount of fish. They don't charge you extra for guac and seaweed which is great considering the fact that most places do charge extra. They offer sushi rice too! The service here is wonderful. So close to me, I can run to Poki Run. :) Poki Run is a lot simpler than some other places as they don't have as many sauces and toppings. With all these poke places popping up, it was bound to happen in Milpitas but I didn't know it would be this close to home! Overall, although I felt cheated with the amount of poke they give you, but after my chirashi fail from yesterday, I'd rather have this any day and it's not as painful for the wallet PLUS they have sushi rice as a base and that's a win for me! L O C A T I O N Poki Run is located in the same plaza as Orchard Supply & Hardware as well as La Milpa rather than the larger plaza to the left of it with the McDonalds and Marina Supermarket and the new TeaSociety. P A R K I N G Parking is easy. Lots of spots in the lot, so it shouldn't be a problem though I guess I came at around 3pm which isn't prime lunch time and I don't know how busy this place gets around then, but I don't think it does. I N T E R I O R It's very clean. Pretty minimalistic with a few larger tables and a bar seating area near the wall. M E N U It's straight forward, you get a bowl and you choose the size based on how much protein you want: regular (3 scoops - $10.95) or large (5 scoops - $13.50). Or make it a roll combo which is basically just the regular with a choice of sushi roll (california, cucumber, or avocado).Then choose a base: sushi rice, brown rice, and/or greens. I opted for sushi rice and greens. Then it's your choice of protein: salmon, tai (sea bream or more commonly it's red snapper that's served), yellow tail, ahi tuna, spicy tuna, or shrimp. Then if you want cucumber or onions, this is where they'll ask you too as they mix everything in your choice of House sauce, spicy sauce, or extra spicy sauce as well as sesame oil. I asked for just a tiny bit of house sauce and sesame oil. Then come the toppings which come at no extra cost: green onions, masago (fish eggs), jalapenos, ginger, wasabi, avocado, fake crab meat (in mayo), seaweed salad, sesame seed. Then at the end you have a choice of spicy mayo or wasabi mayo to drizzle on top. I didn't get either as I'm really avoiding spicy foods but boy did I want to try all the spicy stuff. You can pay by credit card and they in theory have Apple Pay if the person that helps you knows how to operate it (for me...she didn't know). All in all it came out to $11.91. I didn't get any of the drinks, but they do have them (look at my photos). I had mentioned already that I was disappointed in the quantity of fish, but I guess it just comes with the poke territory and I thought that there was too much rice, but as I started to eat everything together, I just couldn't get enough of that sushi rice. I wish it were a tad more vinegared, but at least it was vinegared! Part of me wished there was some kind of crispy crunchy texture like fried lotus chips which would've put this place at 5 stars well as well as a price dip but I can't win them all! The fish quality was good. S E R V I C E Service was fine, but I can see it backing up if people decide slowly as they pack things very carefully. The girl who served me was quite nice and was very diligent in her work. She just didn't know how to do Apple Pay, but hey they're still new. O V E R A L L As I mentioned, although fish quantity isn't a lot, it's cheaper than getting a chirashi bowl and I do appreciate they have sushi rice versus just white rice. Hm, I have all sorts of mixed feelings about this one. Poki Run didn't really stand out in any way for me. The portions are only okay, the price is more expensive than a few other poke places, the quality was average, toppings offered were average. Avocado is included in the slightly above average price (with respect to the portion given.) The place is clean but small. Tables are places awkwardly side-by-side in the middle of the restaurant. And quiet diners eat at these tables while the line wraps around them (if there's a line.) I personally opted for the counter/chairs which faced the wall. Luckily we went during off-lunch hours (around 1:30pm) and we didn't have much of a wait. I guess my biggest gripe here is that they seem to use a lot of sodium (could be MSG?) Perhaps it was the sauces... But both my boyfriend and I felt lethargic once we returned to work shortly after eating lunch here and we normally don't after a small poke bowl. Too bad this place is a miss for me.. Customer service was friendly and it's a lot closer to work than the Mountain View or San Jose poke places! I've been going to this restaurant dozens of times since it opened. It is by far my favorite Poke restaurant in the Bay Area. It is clean, everything is very fresh, and the staff is extremely friendly. I have introduced many co-workers to this restaurant as well as family from out-of-town. One, the variety of bases: I haven't found any other Poke places that offer black rice (although I concede that I haven't tried them all). I can add a bowl of miso soup for a small price. The large bowl contains 5 scoops of fish (in addition to the scoop of crab). Also included at no additional charge (but costing more elsewhere) is a scoop of avocado, and a scoop of seaweed salad. I love how Poki places are becoming more popular! This is a new one in Milpitas! Service here is great, the staff was friendly and fast. The place has decent amount of seating and is clean. The Poke taste great! Their house sauce is delicious and has a little kick to it so if you can't handle spice don't go for spicy. The quality of fish is pretty good too! The reason why I'm not giving this the full 5 stars is because compared to other Poke places mainly Poke house which isn't too far away... It doesn't compare. This is the first time I've been to a chipotle-styled poke restaurant. I was a little hesitant since the menu was somewhat confusing. The person behind the counter kindly broke it down to me, so I was ordering whatever caught my eye. I ordered one bowl for hubby and I to share since it was just to hold us over for a couple hours. Mehhhh. I was so excited to have a poke spot closer to home--especially once I heard they offered premium toppings without extra charge....that is until I actually went there. The "scoops" were so tiny. Like seriously three pieces of fish in a scoop. And the avocado and seaweed salad were probably a tablespoon each? They even went shady on the rice. The icing on the cake was when we were eating. My husband took a bite and pulled out a loooooooong hair. As I had not come near his bowl, we have to wonder where it came from....or maybe we're better off not thinking about it. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is that the quality of the fish was good.
