Poke is always yummy here!! Fave is the spicy salmon and the poke nachoes is amazing. Has fried wonton chips and topped with sauces and sidesss. Can't stop thinking about it lol Quick and friendly service! It's service only and no seats but there's a close by park walking distance as well.
This isn't my first time trying this place, but after a few visits I feel like I finally have a more well-rounded opinion of it. The biggest thing for me is the pricing. Bowls are pretty expensive for what you get. Around $17 for 1 poke + 1 side, or over $20 for 2 pokes + 2 sides. At that point, it almost feels like you might as well spend the extra few dollars for the larger option. Service is straightforward: you order, they scoop, you pay. The staff is friendly enough, but it's definitely more of a quick grab-and-go setup. There's no indoor seating, so plan on taking your food elsewhere. Also, make sure to ask for utensils because they don't automatically include them. One thing I do appreciate is that they offer more unique poke options, including scallops, which can be hard to find at other poke spots. That said, the flavors overall felt a bit underwhelming and didn't really stand out the way I expected. Sides: * Lomi Lomi Salmon (+ extra charge) - Honestly disappointing. It tasted mostly like chopped tomatoes with barely any salmon present. It reminded me more of pico de gallo without lime. I wouldn't recommend paying extra for this. * Crab Salad (+ extra charge) - Pretty standard and hard to mess up, though definitely mayo-heavy. Poke: * Spicy Salmon - Not actually spicy, but the flavor profile is a little different from the usual spicy salmon you get elsewhere. Less mayo-heavy, which I appreciated, and the salmon itself was buttery. * Tako - As someone who loves tako poke, this one felt bland and underseasoned. There's a slight heat to it, but overall it lacked flavor. Overall, I can see the appeal for people looking for different poke options, but considering the price point and flavor, it probably wouldn't be one of my regular poke spots.
I keep wanting to give them another chance, but the quality continues to go downhill. Do they sample what they're serving? The Masago Wasabi Ahi Poke flavor appears to be back, but the black rice was hard and clumpy -- like not enough water added when being cooked. Perhaps going between 5-6 pm is the problem. Nothing seems fresh if one goes too close to closing time (6 pm.) If I have to leave the house in the morning to get good poke, I'll just get in line at Santo Market!

Having recently returned from a trip to Hawaii, I've been on a hunt for good local poke. I enjoyed Santo Market, so I decided to branch out and try Aloha Fresh. Unfortunately, it fell completely flat. I spent $55 on three different styles: Kukui Nut Salmon, Shoyu Ahi, and Hawaiian Ahi. To my surprise, there was almost no flavor profile to any of them. The Shoyu Ahi tasted like plain sashimi with no marinade. The Hawaiian and Kukui Nut Salmon bowls were just as bland. I'm not sure if there was an issue with the kitchen's batch seasoning today, but for $55, the quality just wasn't there. I highly recommend asking for a sample before you commit to a full order here.
Finally got to stop by and pick up two poke lover bowls! They can get pretty busy! The fish looks very fresh and yummy! I got the kalbi ahi & shoyu salmon 10/10! I loved the kalbi ahi and the garlic mayo scallops. My husband tried the spicy salmon & spicy shoyu ahi. I definitely will come back to try the poke nachos and their butter mochi. I also got their POG & Lychee Lilikoi Boba.
OMG DELICIOUS! I kept seeing Aloha Fresh all over TikTok with their delectable pokenachos among other things and I finally got the opportunity to stop by. I really like how the Japan town area is a very clean with lots of parking in front of Aloha Fresh. The service here is very fast and efficient. As I stood in line the wait went by super fast. Lucky me! Because I've seen videos of the long lines days they sometimes have. lol. I checked out the menu briefly, but I already knew I was gonna get the pokey nachos because I have been SOO INSPIRED by TikTok. Can I just say? WOW I love these pokenachos. I decided to order the pokenachos with spicy salmon and the addition of the imitation crab. It was SO DELICIOUS, filling, and had a lovely swirl of flavors that complemented everything (especially the chips perfectly.) I really love how you can tell the salmon is super fresh as well as all of the ingredients. It was delightful. :) I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of the crab, but I am definitely looking to try something different next time. I did really enjoy my experience here because the food is clearly outstanding. I will say I was a little sad that my order didn't come with utensils or napkins inside the bag (nor did the worker tell me I need to get them myself.) As a first time customer it would've been nice to be told I have to get the utensils myself before I leave because I was in a rush + starving and had no tools to eat with other than my hands while I was driving *cries* but still worth it! lol. I definitely do see how this business can be one that focuses on sustainability so maybe I am supposed to ask for those? I also do think the staff is very proficient yet it would be nice to be greeted more cheerfully/authentically and/or helped with a smile or more enthusiastic workers. Overall still a great experience! The poke that they have is delicious, they have solid selections both including hot and cold foods. If you want some variety, I would recommend this place especially when craving Hawaiian food. The spicy salmon is solid and would get again. I also got the scallops and was creamy. The price is definitely worth the quality of the food. The service was a little slow as they were many customers but got my food at a timely manner. When in the shop, the heat still seeped in, there is no sitting area and takeout only. The deliciousness makes up for it.
I've heard great things about Aloha Fresh poke in Japantown SJ and had to rush over after work to try it out. Arrived on a Thursday at 5:15pm half expecting everything to be almost out because they close shop at 6pm. I was mostly correct as many of the poke flavors were down to their last scoop and the butter mochi just sold out when I arrived. However, to my surprise, the workers told me that they could make a new batch of whatever poke I wanted! So I gladly asked for more sweet soy salmon and stepped aside to wait. And in the meantime, they restocked a full tray of butter mochi! The servers were extremely kind, patient, and accommodating, and it really made the whole experience worthwhile! Poke Lover: 2 scoops of poke, 2 sides. I got spicy shoyu ahi and sweet soy salmon with seaweed salad and crab salad; everything was fresh and tasty! And the portion sizes look deceiving, the poke lover was quite generous. Small Kine: 1 scoop poke, 2 sides. Ordered the same soy salmon with lomilomi and crab salad. Butter Mochi: This was my first time trying it after hearing it sells out, and honestly I really liked it! The crust on the outside is my favorite part, and it's not too sweet with a great texture.

We only came here because the other place is closed on Sundays and Monday. So it's a decent alternative option. And I was craving poke really bad. XD This place has lots of options though, which is nice. Got the spicy salmon and shoyu ahi. Spicy salmon was decent, lacking in flavor and spice though. Shoyu ahi was very plain and lacking flavor too. I also think the fish from the shoyu ahi was not as fresh because it tasted slightly off and I had a bit of a stomach pain a few hours later, then the runs. We also got miso salmon which was ok, not really to my liking. Overall, this place has potential! Just need to improve the flavors. More flavor to the poke please! I'll definitely come back though, to try the other flavors. :9 No tables or seatings but there's a bench outside. Service was fast and quick.
Been here a few times now and I'll definitely keep coming back. The poke is always super fresh and tasty. Just be prepared for the lines because this place gets busy. If you're buying a lot, you can always pop across the street to Nijiya Market and grab something frozen to help keep the poke cold on the way home. Prices feel fair for the quality and honestly my only wish is that we had a spot like this in SF. The sweets here are pretty good too and I always end up going overboard. So far my favorite is tied between the scallop poke and the salmon pokes, but honestly everything is amazing.
Small poke restaurant with various fish selections and poke nachos. Came just for their poke nachos as not many places offer that option but unfortunately I was a little disappointed. The fish was good but the wonton chips were very thin and any parts of it that touched the sauce directly turned soggy immediately. Next time, I'll try their poke bowls instead of nachos. Service was fine and the store is small with no indoor seating.
A long line can go either way... a good or bad sign. This time it was a good sign. This small spot packs flavor into the food! The line takes a little time to get through but once your there a selection of fresh poke is available. No seating inside, simply order and go. There is a nearby small park that I walked to that has tables and shade. Food looks amazing and tastes even better. Service is standard , folks are trying to move the line so nothing special. I got the nachos which have crunchy wontons layered with yummy poke, imitation crab and other goodies. This was my second time getting it and they are consistently delicious. This was my first time getting the garlic chicken which I was slightly underwhelmed. I didn't taste the garlic really, it was lukewarm but was crunchy. Maybe I need to try again and it will be better? Overall this is a solid option for poke and I love the nacho version!!! Will def be back as it's conveniently located and has lots of availability for parking.

I had a chance to try Aloha Fresh and it was delicious. If you are looking for fresh fish and different varieties of poke, this is a great spot to try. The service is fast and ambiance is casual, so take out is how we had it! We tried a poke bowl with seaweed salad and Mac salad with the tuna shoyu poke and the spicy salmon. This also came with rice and every bite was delicious. The fish quality here is definitely top notch and I felt one of the best I have had in the bay. Will go back to try the poke nachos! read more

This place is located in downtown SJ Japantown so the parking can be a bit hard to find sometimes but if you go during the day on a weekday, it should be fine! Parking is meter only though so make sure you pay for your parking. The poke nachos here have been going viral and it definitely lives up to the hype. The fish was very fresh (I got the spicy salmon). I also really appreciated how crunchy the won ton chips were (it was giving ASMR). My thing that got me was the price point. This cost me ~$16 total with tax and tip. Other than that, service was pretty friendly and quick. There are no seats inside the place, so you can eat outside or in your car. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area to try the tako poke since that did catch my eye when I was deciding on what to get but instead ultimately went for the spicy salmon. read more

I'm not sure what happened the last few times I've been here but the food has went downhill. I ordered the garlic mayo scallops and spicy ahi. The scallops were super salty, way too much mayo and salt and the ahi did not taste fresh. I made a big mistake ordering 2 scoops and it really disappoint! It's crazy I've been coming here and it used to be so good and fresh. I feel like the food went downhill tbh. I am so sad that I have to find a new poke spot. Also, I got the black rice and it was super dry, I'm not sure why everything I had and regularly order tastes so different. This is the first time I couldn't finish and had to keep looking at my food like why is it so salty and it didn't tastes as fresh. Did they get a new chef because...it def seems like it. read more

After reading so many reviews about their poke nachos, we had to try them for ourselves -- and they did not disappoint! The location is right on the strip of all the Japantown stores, which makes it a fun stop while walking around. We were able to find street parking pretty easily, but we went during a non-busy time, so that probably helped. The restaurant itself is quaint and small -- definitely more of a grab-and-go spot. There's no indoor seating, so it's takeout only. We did see someone enjoying their food on one of the benches outside, which works if the weather is nice. We ordered the poke nachos and the Poke Lover Bowl. For the bowl, we got spicy ahi and shoyu ahi -- both were SO good and super fresh. We added crab salad on the side (just $0.50 extra, which isn't always standard at other poke spots), and also got the ocean salad (seaweed salad) as our other side. The nachos may look small at first, but they're packed with flavor. The sauces really bring everything together. Every bite was delicious. Definitely coming back. So good! read more

Food: Poke Lover (Kukui Nut Salmon, Spicy Shoyu Ahi, Mac Salad, Ocean Salad), Butter Mochi Price: $20.50 (Poke Lover), 3 for $7 Overall: If someone asks for the best authentic hawaiian poke in San Jose, aloha fresh is the correct answer. I been going to this place since I was in high school and I just love Hawaiian poke. It is located in Japantown and there is metered/limited parking. I came around 12pm to get lunch. I love all the flavors here but my favorite flavors are the hokey poke ahi, spicy shoyu ahi, and kukui nut salmon. The Spicy Salmon and Ahi are also very good! For the sides, I love getting the mac salad, lomi lomi, and ocean salad. If I am not hungry, I would recommend getting the same kine or poke nachos! I am forever a Aloha Fresh advocate!! read more
I dream about you ;_; I've been super hyperfixated on poke recently and I went to eat their bowl two days in a row. Based on what I've tried, my favorite fish options are the wasabi masago ahi and the kukui nut ahi!! Then for sides I loveeeee their Mac salad so much (-": tastes PERFECT after I sprinkle some of their packaged sriracha on top. Drooling just thinking about it. My favorite poke spot! Ive tried almost all their poke and theyre all ono. Personal favorites on my poke bowl are the Kukui Nut & Kalbi. Recommend getting a Spicy Mayo on top of the wonton chips! Usually come here on the weekends and the wait hasnt been too long even when the Poke Nacho blew up on tiktok. Sometimes line looks long from outside but it moves quick. Spot is small and has no tables but lovely parks to eat at close by. read more
My bestie recommended this place! Order Breakdown: #1 Poke Lover: 2 Poke + 2 Sides (4/5) - Half sushi/salad - Spicy salmon poke & Spicy Shoyu Ahi - Seaweed salad & Imitation Crab Visually? She's thick. Like generous scoops, no skimpy energy. I would get the spicy salmon 100x again. The poke was fresh and marinated well. I like that the ahi was spicy/with a kick. #2 Poke Lover: 2 Poke + 2 Sides (4/5 bf rating) - Half sushi/salad - Korean Style Shrimp & Spicy Salmon - Mac Salad & Imitation Crab Bf "everything was amazing. only downside is that there was an abundance of toppings that were used to at other poke spots. I wish the crab came with it as well instead of being counted as a side" Sides went crazy: * Crab salad: creamy, slightly sweet. * Mac salad: YUM! classic. * Seaweed salad: average. Musubi 3/5 bf "decent. Spam was a bit thin and it had double rice on top and on the bottom of the spam. Ratio is off. Flavor and sauce is great though!" Around $17-24.50 depending on your build. We visited Aloha Fresh in San Jose Japantown after seeing all the hype on TikTok, and when we arrived there was already a long line out the door--about 20 people ahead of us. From start to finish, it took roughly 30 minutes to order and get our food, partly because they ran out of spicy salmon, which slowed things down even more. We tried the spicy salmon, spicy ahi tuna, scallop, the popular "um nachos" (poke served over wonton chips--the main reason we came), butter mochi, and Korean fried chicken. Overall, most of the food was pretty tasty and the pricing felt fair. However, the scallop was a miss. It had a strong seafood, "sea" taste that didn't feel fresh and left an uncomfortable aftertaste. Because of that, we ended up throwing it away. The Korean fried chicken was also disappointing. It came out immediately and wasn't hot--or even warm--which made it clear it wasn't freshly cooked. As for the um nachos, they were good, but not groundbreaking. I've had similar poke-and-wonton-chip combinations before, whether in taco form or plated differently. This felt more like a trendy fusion take than something truly new or standout. I wouldn't say it's better than other poke places--it just happens to be having a viral moment. The space itself is very casual. There's no indoor seating, so everyone eats outside on benches and tables. Parking in the area is tricky, mostly paid street parking unless you find a nearby neighborhood spot. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and service was polite--it was just really slow due to how crowded it was. Came right before the lunch rush and i'm glad i did because the line was out the door immediately! I got the infamous poke nachos that's been all the rave on social media and it did not disappoint! The poke was fresh and they added just enough sauce. I will say though, the poke to wonton chip ratio was a bit on a smaller side, I wish they could add a little bit more consider the price point. 3.5 stars overall. I've been wanting to try aloha fresh for a while now, and I finally got the chance to try it out. I got the poke lover bowl with the kalbi tuna and the spicy salmon. And for the sides I got mac salad and seaweed salad. The fish tasted pretty fresh but I just felt like it was really salty and the portions were small for the price. My friend got the poke lover as well with ahi tuna and spicy salmon and he got the crab salad, and the seaweed salad. He said he tasted way too much mayo in the crab salad. read more
Start this off by saying aloha is boooomb. We've been multiple times now and just leaving a review. I will say that some of the times we go , there's not as much sauce or flavor to it but that's just not picking. We've never had a bad experience here at all. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors. They have multiple and most are good! Our go to is the shoyu tuna and tako. All have great flavor while not being too salty like some other poke places. To finish up, this place and santo I enjoy a ton because they don't have all the fixings on top of their poke. It's the fish with sauce and thats it. Which helps have the fish shine more which is derlish. (Not sure if that's considered traditional Hawaiian like but I prefer it!) read more

Came by on a Thursday around 3pm and there was already a line out the door, always a good sign. This is take-out style only: you order at the counter and there's no indoor seating. The poke is displayed in a glass case, just like ordering poke in Hawai'i, and you can even order by the pound. The ahi is flown in fresh from Hawai'i, and you can truly taste the difference. I ordered a small kine bowl with white rice, topped with ponzu and spinach. For the fish, I chose the spicy shoyu ahi, along with crab salad and namasu. Let me just say... I devoured the entire bowl. So fresh, so flavorful, the quality really shines. Definitely recommend. It's on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for the freshness and quality. read more

I really enjoy the freshness of their fish and variety of flavors but the portion size is small for the cost. I've tried their poké nachos with ginger scallion ahi and kakui nut salmon. I added the salmon on the side because most of the container was filled with wonton chips. The nachos are good but for $14 to receive a box of 85% chips, 10% seaweed salad, and 5% actual fish is kinda pricey. The staff are nice and efficient in moving the line along, although the wait can be pretty long on the weekend (20+ minutes out the door). There are no sit down areas in the restaurant; all takeout. Utensils and soy sauce at a side table after you pay for your order. Parking is along the street and you may have to walk a bit. read more

*This review is for the Poke Nachos: Deinfluence Edition* After seeing few viral tiktoks online, I had to try the poke nachos! I love Aloha Fresh and the quality of poke bowls, one of the best Hawaiian poke spots in the area. However, after trying the poke nachos, I'm disappointed (3.5/5 stars). It was tasty, but $14 for a snack?? Pass. Not worth. You will still be hungry. I did liked how they fried the wonton chips, but this was way too expensive for the amount of fish you get. I was mainly eating wonton chips. For a few more bucks, you get wayyyyy more food in a poke bowl. I've noticed a price increase overall, so spending $20~ on high quality poke is typical nowadays. If you're debating between the nachos or bowl, get the bowl. Also, if you sign up for their rewards program, they won't give you a stamp unless you get a bowl. I thought that was strange because $14 is a cost of a whole meal. read more
Found this place on tiktok and apparently so did a lot of people because there's a long line outside the door. Fortunately it goes by pretty fast. I knew what I wanted-the poke nachos. The staff are friendly and efficient. Everything is to go as there is no seating inside. Overall I enjoyed the poke nachos-I just wish you got a little more poke with it and could order 2 different kinds instead of just the one. The spicy ahi tuna was very good and the wonton chips were good too. The price with tax came out to about $15. It's not a huge portion but to me it's perfect for a light lunch. There are some benches outside in Japan town. I got extremely lucky with parking. If you go to Japan town you know most of the time you have to park a ways away and walk. Happy I got to try the viral TikTok poke nachos today! There's a great variety of fish/poke options to choose from for the topping, which I really appreciated. The fried wonton chips were soooo perfectly crunchy and addictive. My only downside was the chip-to-fish ratio. I ran out of poke way before I finished the wontons, so I wish there was more to balance everything out. I also ordered the Poke Lover Bowl, which comes with two poke scoops and two sides. I went with the Sweet Soy Salmon and Spicy Shoyu Ahi. The fish itself was super fresh, but flavor-wise, the bowl leaned a little heavy on the mayo side, which slightly muted some of the seasoning I was hoping for. Overall, the fresh fish and friendly service made this a solid spot to check out if the poke nachos have been on your radar! read more
Love, love, love aloha fresh. Definitely one of the best poke spots in town. I also love Santo Market but come here for the Salmon + dinner hours + delivery. Poke Nachos are absolutely BUS would definitely go back for more. Wonton chips are so crispy with the garlic mayo sauce and unagi sauce + ocean salad and lomi lomi salmon. If you don't eat immediately, I'd see if it's possible to get the chips on the side They also sell poke by the pound. My fav is spicy salmon for $28/ib. Not too spicy but packs a good punch still. I used to order this with the poke chips on the side if I didn't plan on eating them right away so they didn't get soggy. And of course the bowl is also always a solid pick the rice is nice and hot and I love the Mac and ocean salad sides. Super filling for lunches and a little leftover for later. Like most places in Japan town, parking can be tough here because it's street side (and possibly metered) and there's no sit-in (there are benches outside to eat), but it's great vibes all around and the quality of the fish is amazing and I always come out for the poke :) read more
Stopped by again for a quick, fresh $20 poke bowl and it didn't disappoint. This time I ordered the Lovers Poke bowl with Spicy Shoyu Ahi Tuna and Kukui Nut Ahi. Between the two, the Spicy Ahi had a slightly slimier texture and was noticeably saltier, with the heat building gradually as you eat. For sides, I chose Ocean (seaweed) and Namasu. The Namasu was crunchy, refreshing, and a nice contrast to the fish. And, of course, it's hard to go wrong with seaweed. Service was friendly and quick, on an early Friday afternoon. Yes, for some reason they removed it from doordash but if you go in person it is still there. I think since it went viral and it is a small store they did not like the extra traffic.
Does Aloha Fresh offer poke only per lbs?
By the pound ($23-$26/lb) or set bowls that are not by weight. You can get a partial pound too; don't have to buy whole pound of it.
