Build Your Own Bowl - Medium

I was visiting my son at Cal Poly and we decided to try this Poki place near the campus. The place was clean, the service was friendly and quick and the food was fresh and delicious. I got the medium bowl which included 3 proteins and 2 sides. The ahi and salmon were fresh and tasted delicious and the bowl overall was filling. It was a little pricey but worth it.

A good poke option for SLO as it's very limited. The bowl is a good portion and definitely fills you up. The price is a little expensive, but it does ensure the quality. ig: @cravingswithcat

WOW!!!!! EACH BITE TOOK MY BREATH AWAY! You know usually there's a bite that is the best and you keep wanting to go back to that bite... NOT HERE!! Every single bite was INCREDIBLE. I got a Poke burrito and housed the entire thing within 10 minutes. The staff was so kind and let me try a few things that I was curious to put on my burrito. Edward and Eylan (might have spelled that name wrong and I'm sorry) you guys are crushing it and THANK YOU!! WOW!! I kept dancing while I was eating because I was full of joy. Small was the perfect size!

Went back for poke bowls. No more tomago! I realize eggs are expensive but come on. At least charge extra for this. In its place they had macaroni salad in its place. Ugh!!

Enough choices in protein, sides, toppings to allow you some nice customization choices without it being overwhelming. The taste was pretty good, the portions generous, and service was friendly and prompt. Filling and fairly satisfying. We'd come here again.

The seafood was fresh and I didn't have to wait for my food because it was made in front of me. I sat on a high table with high chairs, and there was plenty of seating. Make sure that you get a free water or if you preferred bottled water. It was a relaxing experience and I look forward to visit a third time when I'm in the area.

I got a bowl with white rice, tuna and salmon, seaweed salad, cucumbers, corn, green onions, and corn. For my sauces, I got sweet shoyu & ponzu. I thought my protein was incredibly salty, which is interesting because I thought the "sweet" shoyu sauce would nicely balance the citrusy ponzu taste. The protein also had a fishy aftertaste. I also thought my cucumbers had a soggy consistency to it. Though, everything else in my bowl was better. I liked the sweet, fluffy rice taste and crunchiness of the seaweed salad. In addition, my friend thoroughly enjoyed her bowl, as pictured at the top. The service was mediocre at best, as the worker had a cold and apathetic demeanor toward me. Though, every other worker in the store was friendly towards me and my friend. If you're looking for a quick poke fix, this place would satisfy that craving. Though, I would highly recommend considering another spot if you could.

Every time I come here they're consistently good. Large portion and fresh ingredients! The staff are always friendly and helpful too. The medium bowl gets you 3 proteins and 2 sides while the small bowl gets you 2 proteins and a side.

$21.75 large poke bowl is SO filling. 3/12/2022

Legitimately the best poke bowl I've had from Hawaii to New York. As of today, for $21.95 you get 4 large scoops of protein plus 3 sides which can also be protein like spicy tuna or avocado or mac salad. All of the sauces are gluten free and made with tamari! Only a couple items weren't gluten free, such as the fish eggs. I felt like I was waddling out of this place it was so filling the entire day. I absolutely will be back! PS: the don't take cash so make sure you have a card.

Medium Poke Bowl $17 5/5 * 3 meats and 2 sides and unlimited toppings * 5/5 would come again * 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of yellow tail * lots of sides and dry toppings like furikake to choose from Medium Bowl $15 4/5 * 3 proteins: salmon, yellowtail, shrimp * 2 sides: spicy crabmeat and avocado * sauce: sweet shoyu and miso * toppings: tobiko, carrots, corn, cucumber, edamame, sesame seeds, furikake * was craving poke and this place delivered!! * recommend choosing one sauce to make the poke bowl less saucy, unless you prefer otherwise!! My friends added Hot Cheetos to theirs!!

PokiRito is a standout as far as local poke goes, and it's absolutely great for a healthy meal. Depending on how hungry one is, there are three sizes of poke bowls available with a base of either white rice, brown rice or mixed salad greens. I prefer a half rice/half greens combination as a healthier option. One may choose proteins from fresh fish -- Ahi tuna, salmon, albacore, yellowtail or sous vide shrimp / scallops, or cooked selections such as Spam, Kalua pork, teriyaki chicken, beef patty or egg. I have found their fish to always be very fresh & delicious. The sides & sauces selections are wide reaching. I like combining a couple sauces for a wonderful mixture that enhances the bowl. It's great that the sides of spicy tuna or spicy crab, avocado or tamago are available as a regular side, not as an extra charge as at some other poke restaurants. The mix-ins & toppings (veggies, fruits, kimchi, edamame, crispy garlic/onion & many others) selections are nicely varied. Parking is extremely limited and tight, as PokiRito shares the lot with other businesses near campus. The employees are upbeat & friendly as they work as a team to keep the line moving. At this time, they only take credit or debit cards or payment by phone. Prepare your poke bowl with your favorite selections & enjoy! Great job guys, we'll be back!

I know what it's like for someone to come in so close to closing. The order took an embarrassing amount of time to make. I had to ring the bell to make sure my order had been seen and was being prepared. I definitely heard the sound of dishes being washed. I don't know if he was the only one on staff or not. If he was he was cleaning up instead of working on my order. He was obviously annoyed when I rang the bell. The burrito itself was a disaster. Basically just rice and peppers. There are supposed to be 3 different proteins. I found 1. I like spice but the amount of peppers and lack of protein made the thing inedible. $25 dollars (20+forced tip and tax) down the drain. This is not my first time at Poke Chef and I have enjoyed my experiences before this one. Maybe not all "5star" but normal enough that I felt no need to say something. I'd much rather have discussed my disappointment with management by email or phone call but I found no way to talk to them so feel forced to make this one bad experience public. If someone from Poke Chef reaches out to me I will happily remove this review.

Having lived in Japan for many years, I'm picky about quality and authenticity--and Poke Chef nails it every time. The fish is consistently fresh, the flavors are spot-on, and the menu offers that perfect balance of traditional Japanese touches and modern poke creativity. The service is exceptional. The team is warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive, making every visit feel seamless and welcoming. Whether you're grabbing a quick bowl or settling in for a comforting Japanese meal, they make you feel like a valued guest. Convenience is another huge plus--Poke Chef is ideally located right near Cal Poly and US-101, making it an easy stop for students, locals, and travelers alike. The interior has an inviting decor, but seating is limited. There are also outdoor tables along the side the building. The Rock Shoyu Ramen had a good amount of noodles along with three good-sized pieces of pork belly (albeit a bit fatty), pickled fresno peppers & shallots, topped with green onion, an ajitama, umami-rich egg and a sheet of nori. The broth was complex with the duck fat and togarashi; it is noted the broth contains pork, chicken and dasmi. It was excellent. Their Beef Bulgogi Bowl was quite good. It consisted of four char grilled filet mignon skewers (2 pieces per skewer), kimchi, shredded carrots & daikon, pickled red onion, avocado slices, over herbed brown rice and topped with green onions, black sesame seeds, basil and a gochujang glaze. The portion was generous and quite filling. Service was friendly, and our selections were delivered in short order from the kitchen.

I ordered the Morro Miso Ramen (without the egg to keep it vegan) and added extra tofu. The broth was rich and comforting, with roasted garlic, miso, and chili oil bringing a really nice depth of flavor. The pickled corn was sweet and Fresno peppers added a bright, tangy kick that kept every bite interesting, and I appreciated how thoughtfully layered the bowl was overall. BUT... let's talk tofu math for a second. The bowl normally comes with just one piece of tofu (about 3-3.5 inches), which already feels a little light for a ramen. Since I removed the egg, I added three more pieces for $4.25. Totally fine...except now I'm paying extra to replace something I didn't want in the first place. Meanwhile, my husband's poke bowl, about the same price was absolutely loaded with fish. I mean... I get it, but also... I don't get it. Why are those of us who don't eat animals always doing bonus round pricing just to get a balanced meal? All that said, the food itself was good. My husband loved his bowl so much he was ready to go back again the next day. Me? I was more in the mood to explore other spots around Morro Bay, mostly because I'm still side-eyeing that tofu situation.Delicious, but the protein upcharge logic is...a choice.

It honestly felt like they were trying to fill people up with oversized sides instead of quality food. For example, the cucumber salad was one of the worst we've had--basically two whole cucumbers drenched in vinegar. A good cucumber salad usually has a balance of sweet, salty, and tangy flavors, but this was overwhelmingly sour and left that taste lingering all day. We also ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice, which was another massive portion--far more than one person could reasonably finish, especially when ordering multiple dishes. Then came the ramen. We ordered two different kinds, and both were extremely bland. The noodles tasted like instant packaged ramen, with very little flavor in the broth. To make matters worse, the table next to us kept passing gas throughout the meal, which made the dining experience even less enjoyable. While that's obviously not entirely the restaurant's fault, it definitely added to an already disappointing visit. My suggestion: stick to the sushi rolls. If you're looking for quality over quantity, the non-sushi items were a disappointment. If you're preparing for an eating competition and don't mind huge portions of tasteless food, this might be the place for you.
