Pretty average poke. The amount of fish was also not as much as i hoped for the price I paid. Flavors were okay

Have always wanted to try a sushi-rito! I finally was able to and I was not disappointed with how fast it was made and its deliciousness. Only thing is, it is on the pricier side for a sushi-rito. It would be cheaper to get a roll of sushi elsewhere but it's also an experience :)

Friday was my second time stopping at Poke Chef for lunch, and both times have been fantastic. I don't know why this place isn't more busy, but we've never had to wait to order. My friend and I both decided to build our own Poke Bowls. They have four sizes, depending on how many proteins you want - Freshman, Junior, Big, and Kahuna. I got the Junior both times and honestly it was enough to fill me up. The salmon and ahi tuna were both fresh and delicious, and the bowl was fantastic overall. There is no seating inside, but a few benches/picnic tables scattered around the plaza. Also, Poke Chef does not have a restroom. Would return though!

7/7/20 I've been on a poke kick and found this closest to my hotel. So I came here for lunch and dinner. I ordered the Kahuna poke as well as the chicken and cabbage dumplings. Everything was fresh and made from order. It didn't take long to get everything prepared for the staff. Everything was so tasty and delicious! I would most definitely eat here again! I wish there were more poke restaurants like this nationwide. Hands down one of the best pokes I've been to.

One of the best poke bowls I have ever had! I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality and the cost and the flavors were amazing. The portions were also very generous. I will be coming back!

After a long drive, Poke is what we were craving to eat! My wife did a quick Yelp search and found this Poke Chef in San Luis Obispo. Place was easy enough to find. It is located in a small strip mall with very limited parking. Fortunately, our good friend found a nice spot in the lot. No dining was allowed inside at the time of our visit. Fine with us because our destination for the night was close by. Their Poke bar offers a good selection of proteins, bases, mix-ins, toppings, and sauces. Everything appeared fresh and clean. I got myself a size which included 3 proteins. Portion size was decent. I've been to many other Poke places, though, that are more generous and less expensive. Anyways, my customized poke bowl was delicious and I ate every single bite. My wife was happy with her customized Sushi Burrito. She allowed me to have a bite, and I have to say that it was yummy!! Did not get our friends thoughts on their meals here. They did finish everything. Glad to have stopped by Poke Chef for a nice meal. Try them for yourself!

They just recently changed locations and the new sign is a little bit harder to see but I think this is one of the best poke places in SLO and Pismo. Definitely top notch and one of the few places that makes great dumplings.

The food... AMAZING! The service... AWESOME!! We love getting poke here! My daughter and I both have had gastric sleeve and we went in today and asked if we could just get toppings and no rice, they even split it for my daughter and I for our portion size! He was so accommodating and we are always treated so well here! We drive from AG for this specific poke! Love them so much! Thanks so much guys! For being awesome!

I just went in randomly because I wanted to see what they had. I've never had poke before so I asked the wonderful person working there what it was and she kindly explained everything to me and helped me with my whole order. She was awesome and deserves a raise! Her name was Jasmine...?? I think. Or Justine.. I can't remember now but I will definitely be back! Thank you!!

Poke bowl with two proteins (salmon and scallop) with a spicy mayo and ponzu sauce. Various toppings!

Very tasty! My husband and I had both salmon and scallop bowls but with different topping, sides, and sauces. The results were very different but both delicious. It was small though - not enough to get very full but enough to be pretty contented if you're not a big eater. Pretty fair price for poke though. The staff was also nice and the environment small but comfortable. My main complaint was that they were basically out of everything even though it wasn't close to closing time yet. They were out of materials to make poke burritos and out of dumplings... those were the main things I wanted to try! Oh well, maybe next time.

We were walk in, the hostess offered us seating in two bar areas and also made room in the front room for us. We sat at a table in the front room. It had nice ambiance and nicely decorated with plants. Our server was super sweet and helpful. We ordered a Paloma which was great but I heard the pisco sours are good and homemade. Wish we tried one but next time! The service was so fast. When we got our cocktail the food arrived! We ordered the señor lomo which was their lomo saltado. It was sooo good. The sauce was so flavorful and the filet mignon was very tender. It came with a lot of veggies, fries and rice too. Also ordered the escabeche which was a sea bass with similar delicious sauce and veggies. It had mixed colored roasted potato's underneath. Fish and the dish was soft and equally flavorful and delicious. I would say the sauce was slightly lighter than señor lomo. They had a platter of desserts on display. Wish we could have all of them. They all looked pretty and delicious. We tried the papaya creme brûlée. Thought it mostly tasted just like creme brûlée. Highly recommend. It is one of the best Peruvian places I've been. Kinda pricy though, each dish was about $40.

The Tamalito Negro was easily the highlight of the meal and one of the most memorable dishes I've had recently. The Peruvian black squid ink tamale was soft and flavorful, and the creamy ají amarillo sauce worked beautifully with the shrimp. It was creative, distinctive, and absolutely worth ordering. The Corazón, or grilled beef heart anticucho, was also excellent. It still had the characteristic flavor of beef heart, which I appreciated, rather than being over-marinated or disguised. The texture was just right: tender but not artificially soft, with enough chew to remain satisfying without being tough. The Seco de Cordero was much less impressive. The lamb was fine, but the cilantro-based sauce was too salty for me, and the dish did not have the same refinement or excitement as the two appetizers. At $50, I expected more. I also tried the classic Pisco Sour, which was smooth, refreshing, and much stronger than it tasted. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disorganized. After I was seated, nobody came to take my order until I actively called someone over. I was not given water and had to request it when the cocktail finally arrived. My server also entered my order incorrectly and ordered a second Tamalito Negro instead of the Corazón. The food runner noticed that I had already received the tamale, took it back to confirm with the kitchen, and only then was the mistake discovered. As a result, my appetizer arrived after my entrée. I also waited a long time after asking for the check and a to-go box, although the server eventually took the food to the back and packed it for me. The kitchen clearly has talent, particularly with the Tamalito Negro and Corazón. But at this price point, guests should not have to repeatedly flag someone down for basic service, water, correct ordering, and the check. I would consider returning for the food, but the service needs major improvement.

You order at the counter and are given a number. Since they weren't very busy, they brought the food to my table, which I appreciated. The prices were on the high side, though fairly typical for many Vietnamese restaurants in California. I ordered the pork platter with rice and fried egg rolls. The portion size was about right. The rice was fine--nothing particularly memorable. The pork was a generous serving and had visible grill marks, but it didn't seem freshly grilled. It appeared to have been grilled previously and then reheated. It was served hot, but the texture and presentation were not what I would expect from freshly grilled meat. Fresh off the grill would have made a noticeable difference. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside, but the filling was dry and fairly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they weren't a standout item either. The plate also came with iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber, and pickled carrot and radish. The cucumber was fine, while the pickled vegetables were a bit more sour than I prefer. The biggest surprise was the dipping sauce for the egg rolls. Instead of the typical Vietnamese dipping sauce, which is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal, this version had quite a bit of chili added and was much spicier than expected. Some people may enjoy that, but it wasn't what I was anticipating. Overall, the meal was good, but not memorable enough to justify going out of my way for it. The prices felt a little high given the fast-food atmosphere. If I happened to be in the area again, I might stop in and give it another try, but I wouldn't make a special trip to return.

We had our dog with us, and when we stopped in during the afternoon while walking around downtown, the hostess was incredibly pleasant and helpful. She was tall with dark hair and gave us a great recommendation on what time to come back for dinner before things got too busy. We really appreciated how welcoming she was. We came back later that evening and checked in for a table. The hostess working then, who had short brown hair, told us the wait would be about an hour, so we decided to wait. We walked around with our dog and came back to check on our table. When I asked about the wait, she told me in what felt like a very condescending and dismissive tone that we had about 45 minutes left. I mentioned that it had already been about 30 minutes, and she then corrected herself. I completely understand that restaurants get busy and that working a busy dinner shift can be stressful, but there's still a way to communicate with customers without making them feel like an inconvenience. Our table was eventually ready, and we were taken through an alley to the back patio with our dog. Unfortunately, there wasn't much interaction or warmth during that process--no "How is your evening?" or anything that made us feel particularly welcomed. That being said, the food itself was good, and our server was fine. The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was extremely busy, so I think they may simply need additional staff to keep up with the volume. We noticed people who arrived after us were we're going to have a two hour wait. Personally, I wouldn't wait that long. Overall, the food was good and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but the customer service and extremely long wait took away from what was supposed to be a special anniversary evening. I think there is definitely room for improvement in how guests are treated while they're waiting.

We were seated almost immediately upon arrival, and we were thrilled to get a table right by the creekside--the atmosphere outdoors by the water is absolute perfection! The staff here is also wonderfully friendly and attentive. The food was incredible across the board: * Crab Omelette: I ordered this, and it was delicious. It came packed with a generous portion of blue crab, along with avocado, seasonal market vegetables, fresh hollandaise, and crispy roasted fingerling potatoes. * Portobello Benedict: Ordered by the birthday gal herself, my wife! It came served on a toasted English muffin with harissa-spiced portobello mushrooms, poached eggs, tomato, avocado, spinach, roasted fingerling potatoes, and fresh hollandaise. It was an amazing dish full of flavor. * Huevos Rancheros: Our kids shared this dish, which features two eggs poached in a fresh tomato sauce cooked with bacon, onions, fresh chiles, white cheddar, queso fresco, avocado, cilantro, and tortilla chips. It was super flavorful. * Chocolate Crêpe: The kids also got a special order of a chocolate crêpe, which they thoroughly enjoyed. * Caesar Salad: We ordered a side of Caesar salad to share, and it was fresh and great. To top off the celebration, they brought out a complimentary dessert for my wife's birthday, which was a very sweet and appreciated touch. Overall, I highly recommend Novo for delicious food, wonderful service, and an unbeatable creekside dining experience!

The buns they use for all of their sliders are soft, slightly sweet, and don't fall apart while you're eating. The Bahn Mi was even better. I love pork but was a little skeptical about pulled pork on a slider riffing on the flavors of a bahn mi. To my surprise and delight, it tasted just like grilled Vietnamese pork, which was perfectly complimented by the fresh and pickled veggies and surprisingly hot jalapeño. The slider was good- tasty but a little messy to eat. Both servings of fries were really generous. The salad was a good mix of ingredients. However the mac and brussels sprouts were a bit disappointing. For some there is no such thing as too much bacon but for us both of these dishes definitely had too much bacon- so much that we left a lot of the bacon! And don't get me wrong, I do enjoy my bacon.
