i stopped by the SLO public market during my road trip up north, and i think this place was overall good but nothing memorable. it was a bit pricey for a small bowl ($18 for 2 scoops of protein), but the worker tried his best in packing our bowls, so i really appreciated that! i got the small bowl with brown rice and chose salmon & spicy tuna as my proteins. the fish did taste pretty fresh! i also liked how they had so many toppings available, even things like mango and pineapple which gave the bowl a nice tanginess. i chose the spicy mayo and eel sauce and both tasted pretty standard. overall, it was a decent poke bowl at the public market! read more

Flavors were good, but the rice completely missed. At a poke place, rice is the base of the whole bowl, and mine was undercooked, clumpy with a firm, chalky texture (see photo). I love Poke and I remembered there was a new poke place in the public market. I gave it a go. I did not enjoy the interactions with the employees. They seemed unhappy to be there and unhappy to serve you. Like I was bothering them for wanting to give their food a try. When my boyfriend was standing looking around one of the ladies asked "do you want anything?". Kind of rude don't you think? That's not how you greet someone who is potentially interested in your business. Not a single "can I help you" "do you have any questions". Just a "do you want anything" Everything was covered up so I didn't know what all they had - until was in front of the window and started to order. I didn't know how to start the order so I went with the proteins I wanted - like the other poke places I've gone to. She then said what mix-ins. I told her what I wanted. Then the proteins. Then she walked away to the other side where they had more items. You would think they would guide you instead of just walking away assuming you just know what to do. $16 or 18 for a small, I can't remember. You don't get much of anything. I would have rather drove to the other side of town to go to Poke Chef or PokeRito. You get more for what you pay for. The food was good but not worth what I paid for it. The ingredients looked fresh tho. I usually give places a second chance, but I'm not giving Poke Morro a second chance. I'll drive to the other side of town for Poke. This is a decent poke place. I got the ahi and lived how tiny it was chopped! Super fresh fish, some of the toppings were not as fresh as the fish. The servers could be a bit kinder but overall it was a good bowl. A little overpriced (imo) but fresh is good. read more

I recently visited this location to place a large order after realizing I couldn't do so through DoorDash for some reason. This was not my first time at this location in the public market, and unfortunately, my previous experiences have also not been very welcoming. During this visit, I attempted to place an order for about seven people. I was assisted by the same employee I've encountered before, who consistently appears unhappy or frustrated. When I mentioned that I had a large order, she immediately seemed irritated and began asking for sizes and rice types for each bowl right away. Ordering for multiple people can be challenging, especially when coordinating details through text messages. I politely asked if I could go through each bowl step-by-step, but also expressed that I would try to follow her preferred method if that was easier. Despite this, her frustration only seemed to increase. As I tried to place the order, she repeatedly showed visible annoyance and corrected me if I mentioned ingredients out of her preferred sequence. The interaction became so uncomfortable that I felt like I was inconveniencing her simply by placing an order. I explained that I was having difficulty because the process felt confusing, but instead of offering help, she became defensive and said I was the one making it confusing. At that point, I decided to cancel the order. Her response was, "Okay, good," and she proceeded to make a scene. When I asked to speak with a manager, she pointed to the back and said, "She's right there," as if expecting support for her behavior. The manager did step aside to listen to my concerns but did not offer to assist with completing the order. She simply apologized and did not take any further action. Unfortunately, this experience reinforced my previous impressions. I cannot continue to support a business that does not prioritize basic customer service or create a welcoming environment for its customers. read more

The food was a five star and delicious poke, Love it. I am writing this review because of the customer service from the employee from once I walked to place my order. The woman's back was turned to me and she was eating an orange. I pretended to talk on the phone to tell my friend that I was here so she would turn around and take my order. It worked, she turned around, put a slice of orange in her mouth and with the full mouth said how can I help you? She did a good job explaining how many items I could get and what I could put in my bowl. We made it to the cash register she rang me up, said something about a tip and walked away. I proceeded to follow the prompts pay for my order. find the silverware and napkins and walk away. The slo public market location was all around a bad experience. There was 1 worker at peek lunch hour in a Saturday. The female worker arrived back to her shift with bags of chipotle, she didn't wash her hands and her hair was down draped over the counter of topping options each time she scooped into the bowls. They were out of lettuce and when I asked for lettuce she acted like I was crazy for even asking. Eve though it's on their menu. I ordered the salmon and chicken teriyaki and they were both DELICIOUS!!! The staff were friendly and helpful and even though i had never ordered here before or from a poke place in general I didn't feel like a burden when ordering a bit slowly. All of the veggies were fresh and delicious and again the salmon and chicken were cooked wonderfully. I took my food to go but there is plenty of seating indoors and outside if you're sticking around to eat. read more

So yummy and fresh! My girlfriend and I went for lunch and it was so delicious. There are so many different options for toppings, and the fish tasted great. Both of us really enjoyed our lunch.
