Tuna Poke (1/2 lb) Salmon Poke (1/2 lb)
    Frank B.

Ordered this to-go for the first time tonight and it was delicious. The spicy flavors/seasoning on the tuna and salmon were delicious. Plus I always love a good siracha aioli. The fish was super fresh and tasty, large portions and chunks of tuna/salmon made it worth the price. I ordered it with brown rice, jalapeños, and avocado as well. All were great. Will definitely go back.

"Poke Bowl Co" is inside this Whole Foods in Lincoln Park. Toward the end of the market there's a food court. Poke around, then you shall find it! Like other poke places in the city, there are pre-set choices (3 of them: tuna, salmon, and veggie creations). Of course one can build his or her own bowl, starting with protein (no marinated options), toppings (extra $1 with avocado), and sauces (extra $1 with tobiko sauce). Everything is made-to-order and you can see the workers handling the food. The large bowl costs around $13 or $14. Hubby and I opted for the large size because we were hungry and excited for another "poke date." A large bowl gave out a generous amount of raw fish. In my "salmon for days" bowl, the Korean hot sauce that was drizzled on wasn't overly spicy and it had just the right amount of kick. Some of their toppings were their own concoctions and were quite creative. Although their fish wasn't marinated, it was actually better since there were a plenty of sauces and flavors that the fish absorbed. You pay with the centralized checkout near the stairs and elevators leading to the indoor/outdoor dining areas. I assumed that you can pay with the rest of groceries at the grocery checkout if you're taking your poke bowl home. Knowing that "Poke Bowl Co" inside the Whole Foods gives an incentive to come over this part of town to "poke" around the stores nearby and perhaps pick up some groceries (on sale...since it's slightly over my budge if I choose to shop at Whole Foods for all my everyday grocery needs).

Honestly I would have given them 4 stars but...... I chose the large size ($14.5 without tax!!!). I got a build your own with literally everything (naked salmon, green and red cabbage, seaweed salad, edamame, fried toppings, sriracha aioli (their version of spicy mayo), and jalepenos. That was a pretty good tasting poke bowl. The sauce is really good and probably healthier version of spicy mayo. Also, their salmon is super fresh! BUT I don't know if it tasted so good that it justifies the premium you're paying. If I went to another poke place and paid $11, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I stopped by Whole Foods to return a few things and of course got hungry for lunch! Somehow, I never noticed all the vendors this Whole Foods has- stir fry stand, a diner stand, poke bowls. It's a huge leap forward for Whole Foods where in the past they'd just have a salad bar (with a plethora of toppings might I add). You order at the counter from either a set menu option or a custom made order that you create from their mix-ins. Everything takes just a couple of minutes to create and then you pay at the regular Whole Foods registers. The employee on duty said the most popular options were the 'Tuna in the raw' and 'Salmon for days' on the set menu. I opted for the large Tune in the raw with brown rice. It's a lot of food and pretty tasty. You do get asked if you want to change any of it up, but I got it as is. Make sure to grab a rewards card to rack up a free bowl after 10 visits.

Fresh poke conveniently located in Whole Foods! First time here and it was a great experience. The build your own poke bowl was easy and the staff were very helpful with answering questions about sauces and toppings. they even have a loyalty card!! parking is also extremely easy because of being located in Whole Foods and there's plenty of seating. Great way to grab a healthy meal while getting your grocery shopping done.

I'll have to take a better picture in the future this is my new go to poke place. The ingredients are fresh and there is good variety. I'm a big fan of their wasabi aioli, it's not overwhelming. My friend got the bang bang shrimp and we were pleasantly surprised to see they fry it to order. Will be back again!

Best Poke in town. Super fresh, healthy and a great value. Caviar add one only $1 is worth it! Owner Mookie is kinda weird but in a good way.

The menu is expansive, but I knew that I wanted a poke bowl (versus a ramen or noodle dish). After explaining what I was looking for, and that this was my first time in this establishment, the woman behind the counter patiently guided me through my choices. I went with the Tsukiji bowl on her recommendation. It truly had a little of everything (tuna, salmon, crab salad, edamame, radish, nori, spicy mayo, and more). The ingredients were fresh and the portion was generous for the price. Will definitely be back here when I am craving something out of my normal rotation. Note: this is a cashless establishment.

It's a great option if you're trying to get a balanced meal in, with plenty of protein and veggies depending on how you build it and what sauce you choose. I also appreciated how fast everything was: no line when I went on a Saturday around lunchtime, and I got my food quickly. Highly recommend adding the fried onions. They add a really nice crunch that takes the bowl up a notch. As for the fish, the quality is decent for a poke spot. It's not mind-blowing, but definitely good enough to satisfy a craving. Overall, a convenient, healthy-ish lunch spot that I'd come back to.

It was very much between lunch and dinner time, so the restaurant was completely empty inside. My friend and I perused the menu board and eventually each decided to get a regular sized build-your-own bowl. In my poke bowl, I got spicy tuna, salmon, and scallop as the proteins and purple rice as the base. I really appreciate them allowing three different protein choices, variety is great! I then got an assortment of other toppings, including my favorites, fish roe and imitation crab. Everything tasted very fresh as expected, though I think in the future I'd rather get a 2nd portion of scallop instead of spicy tuna (just a personal preference). My friend dined outside the restaurant on the sidewalk since it was a nice day, and interestingly some birds came by and basically begged for food. The price is super reasonable for the quality and portions and I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area. More likely though, I'll order delivery again from them first! The staff member who helped us was incredibly kind and patient, especially with my sister, and I love the build-your-own bowl concept where you can customize everything to your liking. FYI everything is freshly prepared in-house. I ordered a regular bowl with rice and greens, tuna, spicy tuna, and tofu, then added toppings like kimchi, corn, carrots, ginger, cucumber, onions, and a crunchy topping. They finished it with garlic aioli and another sauce, so good! The garlic aioli was a standout. My mom ordered a similar bowl with tuna, spicy tuna, and cooked shrimp. She was pleasantly surprised by the value and kept saying how much she loved the food. The portions were generous, we even had leftovers to enjoy later. We also tried the spicy miso soup for dinner, and she loved that just as much. My baby sister kept it simple with rice and spam. She said she liked it, but true to her picky nature, she took one bite and that was it. Overall, a fantastic experience with fresh ingredients, great service, and generous portions. Highly recommend! Granted the last time I went here was in 2019 to their old location just a few blocks up on Lincoln Avenue but it seems they got a corporate makeover after shutting down during the pandemic and rebranding. Maybe they have a new owner...? It's much more spacious and brighter with Herman Miller stool seats, a pinball machine and high ceilings. But with all of these new trendy upgrades it has lost its cozy, relaxing small business neighborhood vibe the old location had IMO. They added bubble tea and Mochi donuts to their menu. They also were playing rap & trap music and I honestly thought I had walked into the wrong place when I went in. Gone are the guys busy behind the counter. You order via an ordering kiosk (they seem to be popular with places cutting down on staff) made by one person behind the counter. My order was made quickly but I'm not really sure about the kiosk ordering system since you need to input your phone number. I ordered my favorite bowl of theirs, Jimmy's Creation. The first time I tried it in 2018 it was so good I nearly skipped out of the place and wanted to eat here everyday. It's still good but the rice is much more sticky, a little too sticky for my liking since I had to break it up into chunks with my chopsticks. The sauce was a bit too sweat also. Was it always this sweat...? A minor issue though based on preference I guess. There's a large number of ingredients and sauces that don't always taste the best together. I did appreciate the menu with steps to orde. It helped my husband who doesn't get poke as often to decide. My 2 cents: a preset poke bowl menu and pictures might help the ordering go more smoothly. The Tuna and Salmon were good, the shrimp was miniscule. Sushi rice was delicious and overall it felt like a nice healthy and fresh meal. Poke is overall expensive so portions were on par with other locations. I think its the lack of marinating the protein or sauces that are lacking in flavor. There was a variety of texture but no saltiness or spiciness or umami flavoring to offset the blandness or the veggies and protein. Interestingly enough, the spam musubi was one of the best I've had in a while. I loved the egg addition to the 2 slices of spam and warm rice. I had initially sat at the tables but it was a large table and I was by myself and didn't want to take up that much space. So I asked to be seated by the bar.
