Hot water heater was not working at the restaurant. The technician came and said that the motherboard was not working properly and needed to contact manufacturer to get a new one. Came back after three replacing the EV sensor. Water heater still not working, said he was going to order the motherboard. After further 3 days I did some digging online and the water heater just needed to be reset. I put the original EV sensor in and reset the heater in 10 seconds and it worked fine. They billed me 700$ for leaving me without hot water for a week and not fixing the problem. Off course after three months of fight I did not pay a penny and they scratch the invoice read more

This business is reliable - showed up when promised and returned my calls. But $540 for just getting quotes on what it would take to fix an ice maker is too much. I called, they said the guy also gave me a quote to fix a broken signal in my fridge. Yes, true but that took less than 30 min. So to start, I was quoted over the phone to install a hose for a fryer at 195$. The technician came and apparently was missing a part so he couldn't finish the job. He came back a week later and talked to us about installing a gage to regulate the gas. We asked how much the part would cost, he went out to his truck and decided to go ahead and install it without letting us know. We weren't thrilled, but we needed it anyways. So, then the tech tells us our bill is now 470$!! We were not pleased and we called the company. Now, this is where the 5 star review comes in: I spoke with Matthew about the charges and he was beyond helpful and accommodating. He took off all these unnecessary charges (that granted, shouldn't have been there in the first place) and even lowered the bill more than we were expecting. Their main concern was that they wanted to be fair and make us happy. They said they were going to talk to the techs about better communication and took full responsibility about the mix up. We are a small restaurant that has been around for 14 years and will continue to use Polar Bear Mechanics as well as recommend them to others. read more

Polar Bear is the only company we use for any issues with our restaurant refrigeration equipment. The techs are very professional and show up in a timely manner. I hate when I have to call them, but when I do I know they will be able to fix our issue. Beware these scam artists. We contacted them to fix our air conditioner after they had sent us a flyer. That was a BIG mistake. After 2 service calls the air conditioner was not fixed. We called to let them know how unhappy we were with their service and they sent someone out to talk to us. This man begged us for a chance to fix the issue free of charge. We figured what was the harm. Well the harm turned out to be that we'd be harassed and threatened for months for payment for this "service" that was supposed to be free as we had paid them twice already for shabby work. Not to mention, the air conditioner was never fixed. We ended up paying someone else to fix the work. Please do yourself a favor and choose another company. This company should be ashamed of themselves. We are a small, family owned restaurant and our ice machine stopped working suddenly. When I contacted Polar Bear, they estimated my cost to be about $135 minimum to take a look at our machine. The technician was sloppy and dirty, leaving behind a mess, a leaking ice machine, lid wouldn't close properly, and didn't fix anything at all. He messed around with the machine for over three hours leaving me with two options: fix the ice machine for about $850 (estimate, but could take 2 weeks or longer, and will be out of warrantee in 2 months) or replace for $3300. That cost does not include what they ended up charging us for nothing- $450! Unbelievable. I would understand a charge of $200-$300 to come look at the machine. But for the sloppy work done by the technician, I can't believe they could charge us this much. When I contacted the company, I spoke to Morgan who was nice and helpful. Unfortunately, when his GM Heather Jo called me, she was so unbelievably disrespectful and unprofessional. I asked her to consider my situation, as a small business owner and how I don't feel that the rate we were charged was fair. She began to yell over me and kept using terminology to try to confuse me or make me feel uneducated. I wasn't asking for a refund, just be FAIR AND HONEST! I ended up going with a different company who installed a brand new ice machine for $2500, $800 less than Polar Bear. BEWARE! read more

Evergreens uses Polar Bear for regularly scheduled maintenance every 6 months at all locations and for any on-call needs that arise. Their response is always timely and they get us back up and running asap when a refrigerator goes down. They are also good with submitting for warranty work whenever it's possible and saving us money. Their technicians are knowledgeable and good at explaining things to us in words and terms we understand instead of over complicating it. This company should be ashamed of themselves. I hired them last September for my small business to fix my freezer and it took 4 months to fix; its still not even fixed properly. They charged more than promised even though each mechanic promised they wouldn't charge me for their services as it was their fault and not mine that the freezer isn't fixed. However, I got charged more than double the amoun. When I called the company, Heather disrespected me and belittled me, acting like I couldn't understand anything she was saying. I tried explaining the situation yet she wouldn't listen, insisting that it was my fault. Eventually, she started yelling and not listening to me at all to the point where I needed to ask to speak to the owner. She said the owner will call me back yet it's been over a week and I still haven't received a call and am getting charged more than what I was told. read more

I even want to give them 0 star for irresponsible. I have a broken ice machine for long time. So I really want to fix it. When he arrived ,I didn't get estimates which is my fault . I thought he can fix because he said he need to get parts. He spent 3hrs travel 2 times to get parts. The bill came up around $900 but the machine still didn't work. Another guy came he said we have to spend another $1200. Which means I spent $900 for nothing. I sent email is there any way to return the parts, but they ignored me.
