Open face roast beef sandwich. Delicious!

New ownership and we were extremely happy with our visit. Me being on keto, I had the chef salad which was HUGE. Cindy, our wait person was very pleasant and patient with all our questions. They will accommodate a keto diet with an à la cart omelet. Many food and seating upgrades, new booths and tables while keeping the diner feel. Oh... and the prices dropped on many of the menu items! This is one of my favorite places for a cheese burger on keto cheat days. They have video poker machines and provide soft drinks and coffee to players. Chef salad with blue cheese dressing. Salad was loaded with meat and cheese. Small side of ranch which I didn't care for... I wish they made their own dressings.

We went there on Saturday afternoon. Roomy if you're thinking of a group gathering. We order the chicken fried steak, club sandwich and a side of sausage links. Everything was great! They are open every day and close early on Sundays. Get in while you can

Let me start by saying that on this particular Wednesday morning, we had one of the best servers on the planet! Polar King has probably been is this spot over 50 years with no remodeling! Hence the space heaters and cords everywhere! Anyway about the food, Val had French toast, and it was pretty average. I went for the cheese and mushroom omelette! There were literally a1/4 lbd of mushrooms, and lots of sharp cheese, beautifully prepared. On the side were more than enough crispy hash browns. Bathroom was spotless as were the tables and everything else. Id have gone all in if it weren't for the space heaters. They looked a little dangerous! Place was spotless as was the bathroom, probably will go back and try a burger. PS, don't go early Monday morning as the place is crazy.

I've been to this place a couple times and both times have been pleasant. The place is a bit dive-y but appears to be clean. The service is great. For the life of me, can't remember her name but she served us both times (Tracy?) Always attentive and on top of it whether it was water or soda or anything else. Good job! The first time, came here with my wife and a couple of friends for breakfast. Tried the biscuits & gravy with eggs over-medium and sausage (sorry, no pics). Overall, decent. For me, the gravy lacked, though. It had the overbearing flour after taste, a bit salty, and hardly any pepper in it. Good consistency and the biscuits were good. The second time we came here, we ordered the fish and chips and the double cheeseburger. Good portion sizes on both plates. The fish was a little overcooked but still good. The burger is massive but definitely tasted over seasoned, a little salty but still a decent burger. The fries were great with their tartar sauce! Over all, the prices are reasonable, the service is good, the food portion is more than enough, and the flavor of the food is a little across the board but nonetheless worth a try. I will continue to come here from time to time!

Omg I can't believe I have never been here and I've lived right down the street for over 10yrs! Just what I needed this morning. Steak and eggs and a pancake. Have been driving by it on Powell since 1997! This place is awesome!! Delicious food and the staff is so friendly. Prompt service and attention to detail. I even got a Christmas present!! Much love for this place. -cheers

Worst service. Decent food. Waitress took my son's order and totally ignored me. I won't be back.

Walking into the Soda Shop, it feels like a kid's daydream. There was candy and souvenirs everywhere, a big ice cream counter, and, of course, the soda shop. I noticed that they also sell food here-- it smelled amazing and I would definitely give it a try if I came again. Ordering was easy, and the young man behind the counter was really helpful-- I had never been to a soda hop before, so I had some questions about the options. He did not make me feel silly for having questions, and he did a good job of both training his coworker and being attentive to the line at the same time. I ordered a sugar free salted caramel soda (there were so many sugar free options!!!) It was delightful. I was a little apprehensive that it would actually taste like the flavor, but I was pleasantly surprised. The price point is higher than you would pay for a normal soda, but I think that the novelty of the experience is worth it. We had a great time, and would definitely return (I want to see the upper level, too-- that was closed for a private event when we stopped in).

Thanks, or no thanks, to Lulu food truck being closed on 4th of July weekend :( we probably wouldn't have been in the mood for some Hawaiian food! Anyways, after eating at Gyro King (review pending) and downing a lovely lager from Wayfinder, we wanted dessert but still had that Hawaiian food craving in our heads. Thanks to roaming the area, and smack dab in the middle of it all was a little (somewhat) Hawaiian themed ice cream shop called Mochi Cones (: We enter this tiny shop, and the two ladies working there were welcoming and helpful. The served the kids their ice cream and loved it! But I wanted the Lillikoi cupcake ($4) and ube crinkle cookie ($2). And OH MY GEE!!! The ube crinkle cookie was perfect! Or shall I say soft "perfection". The ube flavor and sweetness was just right. My only failure was not taking a picture of it lol, sorry. As for the Lillikoi cupcake, I practically had the same reaction. Cravings cured! So, I inquired a bit about the pastries and asked where they came from. And what another great discovery! The baked goods came from North Plains. My eyes lit up as I've heard about this lady/owner baker before in that area. She had to be the one from ONAS Patisserie. I was in awww because she creates some delicious tasting malasadas. Look her up! You'll thank me!

We brought our water bottles, so we didn't have to buy any drinks, but the drinks look really good! They have a thorough beer, cider, wine, menu, and really cute frozen margs. Anyway, I was really happy with everything I ordered the sundae was so good! You can tell that they put a lot of care into the ingredients they make, like the macadamia-oat brittle was full of ingredients and brought a fun texture and a lot of flavors to the sundae. The chocolate magic shell had kind of coffee in it, which was a fun, tiny crunch and another good flavor. The Thai tea whip was the " cherry on top." I highly recommend adding the miso caramel sauce and Matcha magic shell! So yummy! Just as I said with the sundae, the sandwich and tomato also seemed to have quality ingredients. The tomato soup was delicious, but the flavor was gorgeous with the roasted tomatoes and chive oil, though a bit rich. I definitely finished it, but I do think that having some of my sister's grilled cheese to dip into it was more appropriate than eating it on its own. The sandwich I got had the softest milk bread and was just a classic deli sandwich, but you can tell that again, they used quality ingredients. I felt like I got my money's worth for everything I paid for. The parking situation was great, we parked in the overflow lot across from the establishment. There was a five dollar charge, and if you show your receipt when returning to your vehicle, they gave you a refund. Waiting in line wasn't terrible, we waited maybe 15 minutes? The only thing is that they have a ramp leading to the patio and a long line is inevitable, and the ramp is narrow, so if somebody wants to pass through with a stroller or a wheelchair, everybody on the ramp has to move off to let them through. When we got up to the front to order, something happened with their system, and they had to pause orders for a couple minutes, which didn't bother me, but I could see how maybe that might bother someone else. Either way, they were very nice throughout the wait. There are a lot of people there seemingly throughout the day, and we had a group of five adults and four kids, but we were able to find a picnic table with enough room easily. The picnic tables are also nicely set up with good canopies and the table itself felt pretty clean Lots of Instagrammable foods and photos op spaces.

The situation is like this, they really don't have their own parking at all. You have to pay for parking at the nearby park which is also where the bathrooms are. However, you can skip all this by going through the drive through, but it is a bit chaotic as you try to follow all the signs on how to get into the drive through, but be extra careful as kids and adults are paying attention and walk into the drive thru lane without looking. Since there is a wait for the drive through, they are smart to have QR codes to look at the menu while you are in line. They do have done picnic table setups for sitting down but also some tables inside Sugarpine. I think we waited about 10 min on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't so bad of a wait. They do warn you that they serve a 20% service fee on top of your order. However, I don't understand why. I got no table service. Basically a guy took my order and handed me my ice cream cup. I usually give 20% for real table service. Not sure if this is one of those charges they use to give the employees certain benefits? It was unclear to me. I'll be honest, I was very disappointed in the soft serve offerings. It was chocolate or vanilla or a swirl but there was a plant based offered that is a little more which is a bit more interesting. We got one chocolate vanilla swirl and one blueberry ube kids cup (5 oz) The had coconut vanilla as well, but I did not try it. I paid my just over $10 charge which wasn't too bad, but since there is no place to eat these I drove into downtown Troutdale to Harlow Park where it is free to park and plenty of covered tables. While I enjoyed my soft serve, it wasn't really anything special to me that I couldn't find in other Portland locations. In fact, I've had better. I do appreciate the family run business and the local kids that work there, I think it is a great thing, but honestly toss lace seems best for a stop on the way back from a day at the Gorge, else I won't go out of my way for it. Nothing wrong with it as I said, it tasted fine, but it did t blow my mind either. I did not get to try their BBQ offerings so I can't speak for that but it did small good. I know that have $10 offerings for dessert that have toppings and such but for me the base or foundation of it all is more important to me.
