Let me start off by saying I don't like giving a place like this two stars. I went wanting to love this place. I like dives. I like small diner type places. I like being able to hear the waitress banter with the cook on the other side of the window. I love these things. However, I can't give more than two starts and feel like I'm giving all of you an accurate portrayal of my experience last night. Attitude of the server - through the roof nice. The waitress was kind. Friendly. Called both my husband and I "angel". Service in general - we ordered mozz sticks with marinara (as the menu stated it would be served with) but it came out with ranch. When we inquired about our missing marinara, they said they were out. It would have been nice to be given the option to cancel the order then but sadly they brought it out assuming we A) wouldn't notice or B) wouldn't care. We did and we do. My husband's burger came out next... or so we thought. It didn't have the tots he ordered (fries instead) and the bacon was missing from his bacon cheese burger. He poked around on it, handling the burger with his bare hands looking for the missing bacon (this part is important for a later part of this story). He ate a couple of fries while waiting on his missing tots (again, important for later). The check was dropped at the table before my sandwich made it out and we saw listed a bacon burger with tots. Before we could ask about the missing bacon, the waitress swooped in with the right burger with tots and bacon and took the plate he ate off of and handled completely and put it down in front of someone else. The other customer proceeded to eat the burger and fries. I can't even... my husband has his bare hands all over that thing. My sandwich finally came out - I had turkey with cranberry. Not sure why it took so long. Food in general - order recap - mozz sticks, fried mushrooms, burger, tots, turkey sandwich (yes, we were hungry, don't judge). Mozz sticks would have been better with marinara. Mushrooms good. Burger good once we got the right one to the table. Tots good and hot. Turkey sandwich not good (bread smelled on the verge of moldy but it was soft so it seemed fresh - ordered the sourdough so maybe that brand smells that way? It was a turn off). I ate most of the sandwhich but left 1/3 on my plate - my stomach told me to just stop. More on that later. The cook came out to ask how the mushrooms were because they weren't his usual kind. He went on to mention his walk in went out over night and he couldn't take his usual delivery that morning (might explain the missing marinara). We laughed nervously. While I did see him using a small, non-commercial fridge in the back, I was curious as to how everything was being stored without his cooler up and running. Might explain why my turkey sandwich was neither hot nor cold. Just room temp. We sat there, nervously picking through what was left but needless to say, I was finished at that point. Back to the top, I wanted to like this place. Maybe breakfast is their bread and butter (the pictures on here look good enough). Maybe I'll never know though - I don't think I can risk this again. After leaving, I looked the place up online. They were had a dirty dining report come out this year. I can sometimes forgive that. One of my favorite restaurants in NOLA was on kitchen nightmares a while back and my fave Sonic growing up was always on the list of Dirty Dozen in my home town. Sometimes a bit of grime makes for a great greasy spoon, but i went to bed with stomach cramps. It never rolled into full blown food sickness but I can't imagine the cramps were random. A lot of people seem to love this place, so give it a go if you're interested. Our review is based on one very unfortunate visit. Take it for what you will. read more

I have lived in Gresham for a long time but had never eaten there and then one day a friend suggested this restaurant to eat at. We loved it. Not only is service excellent, but they remember you when you come in. Also the waitresses have been their for years. Some for over thirty years. They have their regulars and they always have room for the new customers too. We love giving business to non-chain business and this is one we go to all the time now. read more

The food here is typcial diner food, nothing special or amazing. Its small and crowded but I loved them. I went here for breakfast and at 35 I was the baby of the bunch. All the old retirees are freindly and are great people. My coffee cup never stayed below half full because it was being filled up. OK food, awsome service, kind of small, freindly crowd. read more

I come here for breakfast only but i do like it here. I have only ordered their omelettes. My favorite is the polar king omelette. It is big enough for two or three meals tho. It has ham bacon sausage cheese smothered in country gravy. read more

The last couple times we have eaten here have been bad. Food over done or under done. Service was VERY slow. People who came in after us and ordered after us were served about 10 minutes before us. Our waitress did not check on us to refill our coffee. We had to ask for it. She also did not check on us after serving our food but managed to check on the other people a couple of times. What happened to customer service? Would not recommend and definitely will not be going back. read more

Exactly what you would expect from a home town diner. This is old school all the way. I have ate here several times over the past couple of decades and it's been pretty consistent and true to the style. If you want fancy this is not for you. If you want that homey feel that's what you'll find here. I have only been here for breakfast and never left hungry. read more

I've had a few different experiences here. But I will say it has mostly been good(which is why I gave 4 stars). The kitchen staff was kind, the waitress we've had had been good and the food is pretty delicious and I would say fairly cheap. I had one waitress pay for an ice cream cone for my daughter because I didn't have cash and she told me it would be a waste to put it on my card! Which was such a nice gesture. I have one waitress that I believe has been there a while who treats everyone as a family member and she's just amazing and then today I walked in, wanting breakfast and a possible Ice cream cone to help with my nausea I stood there for a bit hoping to get service and nothing. Although two waitress walked by me And neither acknowledge me or said "I'll be right with you". At least let a customer know they have been seen!Just a hello goes a long way. I have been going to this restaurant since i was a baby, i dont even remember meeting any of the people, they were just always a part of my life. My grandparents were regular customers there, and i was with them a lot, so naturally they brought me along. I still remember the big round table always being occupied by a bunch of older gentlemen talking abut past war stories, and fun times back in the day. It just always felt friendly,and welcoming :) Not to mention the waitresses were always great, we would come in, and instantly there was coffee for my grandpa, milk or orange juice for my grandma, and hot chocolate with "lots of whip cream" and they really nailed it :P just picture a 3 inch tall tower of whip cream, they hold no punches for their customers :). So please feel free to go have a nice meal with your family or loved ones, you definitely wont regret it. read more

Breakfast was great. Huge portions and tasty, diner style food. Obviously a lot of regulars here, gives it a homey feel. Fast and friendly service. I remember enjoying the shakes years ago, but I was too full to try another one. read more

I went to polor king on Friday sept 8th and went back to have the #1 breakfast last time I was there it was $8.50 ,, now its $9.75,, before polor king was sold it was 8.00 dollars, any way 9.75 is a lot of money for breakfast , again the toast has shrunk again how much does a loaf of bread cost,,used to give regular 4 pieces of toast on a regular saucer,,,, small eggs , hash browns are ok , minuim wage did not go up in Gresham ,, the only good thing a person gets a free cup of coffee ,, comes with the beakfast,, if the prices keep going up ,, I saw the menu at polor kings prices on the menu have gone up again ,, probally the same price every where you eat ,, for this price of beakfast , I can cook every thing my self at home it wont cost 9.75,, cost of a dozen eggs 1.15,,a loaf of bread 1.25, and the meat and the hash browns still wont cost that much, and my friend had bowl of clam chowder , small portion wasn't much for the price,, will start to eat more at home its cheaper, overall great staff but who can afford to eat out read more

Unfortunately I'm not one to do this but I ordered a double bacon burger on door dash and it showed up over cooked , and the buns were so soggy it was like chewing on raw dough! My fiancé got the chili burger and the patty was burnt and over cooked to hell! The only thing that was ok about this food was the deep fried mushrooms and all this costed 34$!Needless to say I will never be returning as a customer nor will anyone I know! read more

Don't trust their security system. Had my iPhone and wallet stolen from there. Ask to see the security system and they said it doesn't work. Gave them a benefit of a doubt. Had several people also told me that they think the waitress stole it. I asked to speak to owner but they told me that they would have them contact me. Never received the call or a apology. Have spent well over $5000 at that place in a year. I guess they don't want my business. I heard they are selling the place. Maybe a new owner will remodel and bring in better food with service. I will then give them another chance otherwise they won't get my business. A simple apology would have taken cared of my anger. Recommend not going there as too many other better breakfast and lunch restaurant in town. read more

This is the worst place to have ice cream cone . When I got mine the ice cream fill off and they counter and they charged me for it but my husband was just mine so he had to pay $6.00 for one . We will never return there for anything. read more

My husband and I love going to the Polar KIng. The food isn't gourmet, but it is hearty and plentiful. We love it so much because Maggie and the other wait staff are exceptionally warm and welcoming. It's our go-to place for breakfast in town. read more

Visiting from out of town. Everyone had already eaten so I went for a walk with my son. We ended up here. I ordered the Polar King Omelette. Surprised how quickly it came out. Delicious and more than enough. Plus I'm a sucker for hole in walls and when the waitress calls you sweetie. read more

So the food was good. I could complain that my omelet was not as warm as I might like when it came to the table but honestly that's not the end of the world. The portions were huge. Actually I easily could have made three meals of that omelet. Service was friendly but not so much that you felt creeped out. The decor is worn a bit, but clean. If you want a fine upscale dining experience you're just not going to go here in the first place. This is the place to get a decent meal for a reasonable price. But wait there's more; My car got stuck in the snow out by the road trying to get out of the parking lot. Literally within seconds the waitresses were out there pushing my car, and with a bit more help from others I was on my way. You want to talk about what's right with the world then you want to talk about good honest family owned businesses that go above and beyond for their customers. This is one of those. read more

Poor poor customer service. We walked in there. The sign said seat yourself and so we sat ourselves. A few guys were sitting across from us and the waitress clearly saw us as she brought them menus. She didn't acknowledge us. We sat there for 10 min waiting for a menu. We got up and left and she didn't even say anything to us as we left. Never attempting to eat here ever again. the food was ok ,, one of the waitress was a little rude to me kept skipping my table when it wasn't busy in there,, , I think the breakfast was fake frozen hash browns eggs a little rubbery,,,, and also were the French frys are frozen ,, some restarants make there own frys,, ,, and sometimes I order a burger and frys to go ,, sometimes I get a lot of frys some times not,,mabe its the different cooks,, the burgers are just ok,, some other places might be cheaper,, just a typical diner and has been around for a while read more
