Awful service today. Over an hour for a pasta and small pizza. Never got bread as it was "in the oven" but a table behind us got bread. Never got checked on in an hour!! Complained to manager who said he would "take care of the bill" then only took some of the items off. Oh and I asked for multigrain penne but did not receive it. Polcari's has the best bread and oil, they serve it before your meal and it is really great. We always go through the bread, and sometimes even the oil. The service is pretty quick and the cheese pizza is better than pizza with toppings in my opinion. read more

Bartender took $80 for a $48 tab and gave us no change. After conversing in the parking lot we realized we paid a $30 tip for average service. We have been here several times, and each time all members of the family were very pleased and happy. Service is warm and friendly, the ambiance is casual and fun, with an open feeling of a trattoria or osteria with nostalgic black and white photos and decor and lighting, and yet the booths are warm and intimate, and you can hear other speak without needing to raise your voice. The entrees are crowd-pleasers, and the price is reasonable. A pizza lover will enjoy the 10" pizzas that you can tailor to your taste. The Caesar Salad is soooo good. They will make almost any of the chicken dishes as veal if you like, and our veal-lover really enjoys the veal marsala. The Tagliatelle Bolognese and Eggplant Parmesan are great, as are all of the dishes we have ever had here. And of course the bread and oil are so very good! It sounds weird to compliment the bread and oil, but they are really special. It's warm bread and tasty dipping oil/sauce. This place is a family favorite when we're on our way home from the MFA, MoS, Aquarium, etc. We have visited more times than we can even count and will continue to visit whenever we can. read more

First time having food delivered from here through UberEats. Food was phenomenal but the biggest reason I say 5 stars is how management handled a missing item from my order. Not only did they make it last minute, but they added on three desserts with an apology note and smiley faces. Took my daughter to dinner on September1st. She ordered chicken florentine and I ordered sausages, peppers and onions with a side of pasta. The bread was fresh and warm and a bit crusty. As usual, the food was warm and tasty. My daughter's meal came with two large chicken breasts. My order had 5 sausages, 2 hot and 3 sweet. The sausages were great, but the peppers and onions were OK. [Too bad they're not like the peppers and onions you get with a sausage at Fenway.] We had so much food, we had enough leftovers for a second meal. Polcari's has always been a go-to place for Italian comfort food for my family and friends and I and am happy to recommend it to those who haven't tried it. This use to be our go to for Regina's pizza. What the hell happened in last four to five years they have gone downhill. We were so disappointed last few years we stopped. I've always had a great meal at Polcari's - from their beer and wine selection to the quality of their meals, Polcari's is a top-notch restaurant with some of the best Italian cuisine I have ever had. My last foray into Polcari's included some tasty Sangria, their delicious fresh-baked bread with oil and seasoning, an order of spicy fried calamari, and a Sweet Sausage Cavatappi dish with an outstanding cream sauce. Was there last night for drinks, friends and trivia in the bar. Have been there several times for the same line-up and it's always the same thing. PROS: Easy to get to, with plenty of parking. Marinara sauce is GREAT! CONS: Table service on trivia night can be....challenging. The servers are very nice, but either there's not enough of them, or there's too many of us and getting your order in and delivered can be a while. I ordered the Caprese Salad that I've had in the past, and on this occasion I'm disappointed to say it was just meh. Tomatoes were not ripe, mozzarella portions were skimpy, toast points were stale and red pepper salad was jarred red peppers plopped in a pile. Not impressed, but a little marinara saved the toast, I ignored the peppers, and heavily salted the cheese and tomato to make them passable. read more

I haven't been to Polcari's and eat in in probably 10+ years. We usually get pizza to take out (which is ALWAYS outstanding). Went there on a Saturday around 5:30 pm. It was busy, but no overly so and we were seated right away. Started out with bread and oil which is outstanding. We had the toasted ravioli appetizer which was very good. For entree's we had the chicken parm and the sausage cavatappi. Huge portions, hot and fresh. Folks, this is not gourmet food. For the quality and price, the food doesn't get any better ! We had 2 drinks each, an appetizer and two entrees for $60 (+tip). I have paid alot more for lesser quality food. read more

There pizza is good! not as good as the original pizza regina in the north end but as close as you are going to get to it without going into town. There dipping oil as always awesome but the bread is not my favorite. never had a bad meal here. Also request the dinning room because they have a side room were bands play but, its an odd room for just having dinner and its always freezing in there. read more

The food here has always been GREAT, especially the pizza. Where they can use major improvements on is the service. I placed an online order for a pizza pickup. The pickup time was for 11:40 am. When I arrived at 11:30 am, the girl at the pickup desk was on her phone and not very attentive. When I told her I was picking up an online order, she told me "If your time is 11:40, it will be ready at 11:40". I understand I was early, but that is absolutely no way to speak to anyone. I give this one star because my boyfriend got food poisoning last night from the chicken tender bites. I tried a little bite and it did not taste right. I also give this one star because the plates were extremely dirty. Check out the small plates, and the silverware and you know that I am not lying. We got there at about 6:45 and were told that the wait would be between 20 and 45 minutes. We were told though that if we were willing to sit at the higher tables near the bar, we could be seated immediately. We went for that option instead. We then spent what seemed like an eternity waiting for someone to take our order while waitress after waitress walked by, served neighboring tables but totally ignoring us. Finally, walked over to the reception folks to ask when we were getting a waiter. That was the only way to get anyone's attention here. Its very simple: waitstaff should acknowledge all customers in the room and say something like: "I (or someone) else will get to you shortly". This eases the wait in a very big way. If you haven't tried Pizzeria Regina Pizza than you are missing out!! The Polcari's on Rte 1 does a great job making these pizzas and I will go back to that specific location just for that. My favorite dishes are the new crab cakes appetizers (taste like ones I've gotten in Maine), and the Broccoli penne with chicken. Try the tiramisu for dessert, its homemade. read more

Ok I have had it with Polcaris! I recently wrote a scathing review of Polcaris in Woburn, Ma. Now the same nonsense has occurred at the Saugus location. When were were trashed at the Woburn location, the manger gave us a gift certificate. still not feeling right about the place e went to the Saugus location a month or so ago and had a decent meal, decent service. Today, deciding we wanted a Regina Pizza, we headed back to the Saugus location. We walked in the reception area and similar to what started our nightmare. A girl whose actual job in the place is unknown looked up at us as if were were aliens who had just fallen from the sky. Then she grabbed the always feared dry erase board and she and another employee (more on him later) began having a heated discussion as to where to seat us. Now keep in mind they were not at all busy and there were endless empty tables, but these two knuckleheads carried on for a good three to five minutes naming table locations. When they sort of settled on a location the girl brought us to a table where she promptly dropped half the menu on the floor. hen we were finally seated we were ignored for ten minutes. Waiters and waitresses buzzed in and out of the dining area attending other diners- not one so much as cast a glance in our direction. Having had enough of being ignored, it became obvious to us that they had no intention of serving us, so we got up and started walking out. The guy who was at the front when we came in saw us leaving and sarcastically said, " Have a nice day," (rubbing salt in the wound inflicted by their inattentiveness). Fighting my initial urge to slap him I said , "Thank you for the excellent service." We left, got into our car and when i backed out a man who didn't feel it necessary to introduce himself came running out to the car and said, "Were you seated,?" as if that was the only thing that mattered to him. We said yes we were seated and then ignored- he offered to"cover our meal," We said no thanks and left. It is apparent to me that since this is the second time we have received this terrible unacceptible treatment at two different locations, that Polcaris simply doesn't care how their employees treat the customers. Personally I will never darken the door at a Polcaris again (sad since I love the pizza-but it is simply not worth the abuse) read more

Stopped in here because it looked like a good place to try. It sits on Route 1 and touts itself as Nort End Italian Food. that is probably the most laughable thing I have seen in a while. The outside looks like the run of the mill chain. The inside is nothing special either with bad decor and low lighting probably so you can't see the food. The service is some of the worst in the area, with crabby wait staff and poor hostesses. The menu is a bunch of pizza and Italian selections, the run of the mill not so creative pasta dishes and the ziti combos. When you actually try it, it taste like something out of a can. I have had better Lean Cuisine dinners from the freezer section. It was just terrible food. It had a frozen taste to it and had no spice, no real substance, no anything. It was horrible food that I barely finished. I struggled through the dinner trying to choke down the bad wine and just get out of there. I would say dont go here. It is bad food and service and not sure how this place makes it. It should be closed down! read more

I do not recommend. Asked the hostess if we could sit in a booth when she brought us to a table in the middle of the room while staring at 3 open booths- she rolled her eyes went to "go check" came back and said it wasn't possible. Not even two minutes later another group is being brought to a table near ours, the man complains they want a booth and don't you know they get one of the booths that "weren't available". Watched two more groups of two come in off the street and get seated in the other open booths. Seriously? Fine whatever I just came to eat some chicken parm and bread/oil. Which I couldn't eat because the chicken was soggy and swimming in a pool of oil on my plate. The texture was weird and the bread crumbs made it taste mealy. Couldn't continue eating. You can have crappy service with great food but crappy service and disgusting food? Doesn't work. Do not go here. read more
