Honestly for the last few months ive been thinking, "I don't need to get my nails done I'm not going anywhere to show them off" but seriously?! What was I thinking? I get a pedicure because it makes my feet feel amazing and it's a great way to relax for an hour! Why did I think I didn't need one? I used to go to polished when I lived in cap hill and when I moved to Fremont Ive tried basically every salon in Fremont, Wallingford, and greenlake and wasn't impressed. Now, I go all the way back to cap hill just because I know I love Polished. They get it right every time, they always have the latest colors, and they are SO meticulous. I never feel rushed there, which is a problem at a lot of other places. Plus they have a great happy hour special from noon to three and honestly we're mostly working from home anyway. They even have WiFi if you want to work while you soak. Take a day when you have no meetings and treat yourself :)! read more

I've never gotten hangnails after a manicure but here we are... they hurt pretty bad. I've gotten acrylics here a few times: 1) my nail beds were sore for days because they were so rough while prepping, 2) the nail polish was never carefully applied, so it always looked messy and blotchy. I've wanted to like this salon so much since it's close to where I live. I've never had a great experience here so I will be searching for manicures elsewhere. read more

I wish I looked at the bad reviews before I went, and I should have NOT trusted the four star rating on yelp! I called to make an appointment on the same day for both manicure and pedicure. When I arrived, a lady I believed to be the owner told me to pick a color, while I was picking, she told me, "he will do you nails when you're ready." As I looked around, a younger guy was sitting on a chair with his phone, no greeting or what so ever, and yes, he will be doing my nails :) After I sat down, without saying a word, he started filling my nails with this machine. I told him to go lighter because my nails are quite thin, but he kept going with a rushing and almost aggressive manner which left my skin and nails feeling uncomfortable in the end. What did I got? Acrylic nail extension plus regular nail color on top. He did a terrible job, unfinished acrylic under the nails, and my thumb got chipped only an hour after the session. Uneven coating, and obvious bubbles on several fingers. Now I'm just wondering if he's been professionally trained for this! I couldn't wait to leave, so I ended up only doing a manicure :) currently at another salon for my pedicure and to recolor all of my 10 fingers! read more

I visited Polished for the first time recently and, shockingly, I developed a fungal foot infection in less than 24 hours of having a pedicure there. Mid-service, I did notice that there was a a fair amount of dust (and probably nail residues) on the technician's chairs and around the salon. They really need to clean this place and ensure their instruments and foot baths are fully disinfected. It's a shame because the staff was nice and it's a good location, but I can't offer anything more than 1 star after leaving with an infection. read more

Edit: polished has gone far downhill since I used to come here. They remodeled and appear to have electrical issues, their tech was rough with my hands and hurt my nails a bunch of times, and when I had one nail break two days after I had them done they told me I would have to wait for three people to have pedicures before I could have it fixed. I'm so disappointed and will be finding a new salon after this. Polished is by far the best place I've ever had my nails done at. All the ladies are kind and take their time, plus they make sure you really love the way your nails look before you leave. I've had a full acrylic set from them for about 3 months (with fills and a refresher set in between of course) and never once has any of my nails broken, cracked, or chipped. Kim, the owner, is super fun and kind, and always remembers me. I've had nothing but great experiences with Polished. Once, I wasn't very clear about what I wanted and my nails turned out a little wonky, which I only realized after I left, so Kim let me come back to have them repolished and didn't charge me any extra. A different lady was my nail tech and did both my gel manicure and regular pedicure. She RUSHED through both. Both kinda look like I could have done them myself, so paying $65+ tip was a LOT when I needed to go home and clean the polish off my cuticles and surrounding skin. Also, not a big deal, but I grew my nails out so that they would be slightly longer, and asked her not to cut them but just shape, and she ended up disagreeing with me and cutting them- but not all of them? So it's pretty uneven. I left feeling like my nails would end up looking fine, but disappointed that I spent any money on it. read more

After a one off visit because I needed an *emergency* pedicure, I quickly became a regular at Polished! Ana is my absolute favorite - she's so warm and quite funny. Plus, she always takes her time and makes sure my set is just right. I'm on texting basis with the owner, Kim, who is such a hard worker and so accommodating! The fact that I can text her for an appointment is amazing. I'm here every two weeks on the dot for my dip fill, and I'm always so pleased. Also, did I mention these are my natural nails?! No tips! Wouldn't recommend this place. I came here because I wanted to have a relaxing time but I had the opposite experience. 1) They were all yelling at each other the entire time so I couldn't even talk to my friends who were sitting next to me. 2) While getting a pedicure, they tried to give me a manicure at the same time. They don't have a setup conducive to doing both at the same time, so they basically had me holding up the LED lamp with my legs for my hands. When they realized that wasn't working, they put the lamp to the right of me on the bench I was sitting on. This meant whenever I had to put my left hand in the lamp, I had to twist my entire body to the right in order to reach it. 3) At one point the manicurist got a phone call and decided to sit on the bench between me and my friend in the middle of our conversation to take her call. 4) See pic for the job they did. They cut my nails painfully short and it doesn't look good. 5) Manicurist kept leaving to go talk to her friends or eat food, so I had to keep switching on the light myself or switching which hand to put into the LED lamp because she was MIA. 6) They were rushing us and made my friend pay for the second friend who was still getting her nails done. Made her sign the receipt for the second friend (is this even legal?) Don't like to feel rushed especially when it's not even close to the closing time Don't really recommend and I did not have a relaxing or peaceful experience. And paid $70 for this. There are other places to go so don't come here. read more

I got my nails done at Polished for my birthday. I typically have a good experience here but this time it was weird. The nail polish wasn't showing up quite as I had hoped so the stylist kept suggesting new colors. She pulled out this color from behind the counter and I agreed. Overall the nails at the time looked fine, not amazing. I tipped and the experience was weird because she insisted on seeing my phone because she didn't believe me when I said I Venmoed X amount for the tip. She grabbed my phone from me and made sure I tipped what I said. I left feeling a little uncomfortable with the tipping experience (not necessarily the mail experience). Fast forward to a week later, my gel is already peeling off my finger. I'm pretty used to gel staying on for 3-4 weeks but this only stayed on for about a week. It's starting to peel up from the top because it wasn't bounded correctly. Pretty upset that I only had my nails looking nice for a week considering I paid $40. read more

My nail tech handled my nail beds with care, made sure I was comfortable throughout, chatted with me, and did an excellent job on my new set. DO NOT GO HERE!!! The woman who worked on my nails tried wiping away her mistakes with a towel leaving lint in the shellac, instead of starting over she tried to keep painting she got shellac around each and every one of my nails. To try to get the shellac off of my nails she cut the skin even when I told her to stop and that it was painful. I tried to be nice because of the language barrier, a different woman came over looked startled by the quality and started FRANTICALLY cutting my skin more. My bf had already paid for my nails. He didn't know I was being cut raw (my fingers are sore to move and I still have shellac around my nails). When I asked for a refund the owner was called she said to Venmo request her and that she "promised" she would refund us. I said I wasn't leaving until the refund was made she said "my word means something" then hung up 10 minutes later she called back to say that photos needed to be taken and that "I'm a perfectionist" MY SKIN IS RAW and looks/feels hideous. She then called back 2 minutes later and said she accepted the Venmo request (a lie) and once again told us to go and that the request would take some time to go through. I said I wasn't leaving until the refund went through. Finally we were refunded cash. The owner is a liar who tried to fake giving us a refund. Do not go here. I wouldn't have written this review had I just been nicely been refunded for the worst manicure experience of my life. Instead I was lied to and made to wait around. Using the pointer,middle, ring, and pinky fingers on both hands is painful. read more
