I booked this pedicure through ClassPass and was excited to try this salon. The staff was friendly, but I was disappointed with the final result. The polish application wasn't very clean-there were uneven edges, polish on the surrounding skin in a few places, and the overall finish didn't look as neat or precise as I expect from a professional pedicure. The foot and leg massage was also fairly mediocre. The bright pink color is cute, but the attention to detail just wasn't there. So disappointing and would not recommend at all for anyone looking to get their nails done :/ I booked ahead of time for a Gel-X removal appointment, and upon arriving on time, had to wait 15-20 minutes before getting started. It's always so unfortunate when you have to wait more than 15 minutes especially after making an appointment ahead of time because to me, it defeats the purpose of pre-booking. It feels like the staff needs to re-think the time slots because appointments are bleeding over and causing longer wait times. Regarding the actual removal itself... Oh gosh, I haven't had an experience before where chunks of my Gel-X nail were flying off. Their Gel-X removal process is a bit different than what I'm used to. While I'm used to the drill-looking device to get the color and maybe the top-most layer of the Gel-X nail off, I'm shocked that their removal process depended mainly on drilling/filing down the entire nail... which eventually I feel made my own natural nail super super weak because layers of my natural nail were drilled/filed off too. I typically have my nails wrapped in acetone (?) - soaked cotton and then foil for at least 5 minutes, so the Gel-X nail is a lot softer and the Nail Tech can then scrape the leftover bits off. But here, I think I dipped my fingers in some acetone (?) - mixed water while my other hand was initially getting drilled/filed, so it didn't really do much to make the Gel-X nail softer/more malleable. They also don't really offer any Nail Strengthener or post-care along with the removal, which I'm shocked since that's always been included when I go to other SF salons. Same with nail shaping and some sort of clean-up... I left with BUSTED nails... literally they looked like they went through absolute hell and back with super uneven edges, not a clean file in sight. I had to go home and basically re-cut and clean up the skin around my nails and my nail itself since they felt so uneven and sharp. Also didn't help how brittle and weak my nails felt after all of the drilling/filing which I'm so certain was due to how they removed the Gel-X nails because my nails have never felt this weak before and I've removed Gel-X nails 10+ times in the past. For the amount you're paying, you could get SUCH A BETTER experience and walk away with much better and healthier natural nails from any other SF salon offering Gel-X removal. TRUST ME! Would not come again even with how conveniently located they are near Downtown SF. read more

I am very disappointed with my recent experience at this salon. I came in for a French gel manicure. Before this appointment, I had hard gel on my nails. The technician did not remove the existing hard gel before starting the new French gel manicure. Once she began the process, she told me that the result would not look nice because my nails were uneven. She then said that I should have explained what needed to be done and that it was my responsibility to tell her how to handle the previous hard gel. This was very surprising and unprofessional to hear. As a client, I am not expected to know the technical process of removing or applying different nail products. That is the technician's job and professional responsibility. There was no offer to correct the issue properly, no solution suggested, and no discount provided despite the unsatisfactory result. I left the salon very unhappy with both the service and the final look of my nails. She did a good job and checked in with me throughout the mani to double check the length, and shape of my nail as well as the color. She also cleaned my cuticles and shaped my nails well. ABSOLUTE DISASTER I was expecting to receive a professional hard gel manicure from a technician qualified to perform the service. Instead, I was assigned to a manicurist who was unfamiliar with the hard gel process. Throughout the appointment, the salon owner simultaneously provided step-by-step instructions to the technician on how to perform the service while multitasking other shop matters including being occupied with another customer. As a paying customer, I did not agree to be a practice model for someone learning how to perform hard gel manicures. I paid for a completed professional service and did not receive one. The owner instructed the technician to apply a super-thin hard gel base and thick layers of polish that immediately air bubbled. When I asked for correction, the owner gaslit me before attempting to fix it. The tech then tried to further fix it by filing the side shape of my nails which just scraped off the polish and left me with ugly, streaky, bare edges. The quality of the manicure was unacceptable. The unfinished product I received contains numerous defects, including: * Uneven application of the base hard gel, polish, and top coat * Visible air bubbles in the gel * Unpainted edges around the nails * Excess polish applied onto the surrounding skin on all ten fingers * Residual black polish remaining on my skin days after the appointment despite attempts to remove it The photographs clearly show the poor workmanship and lack of professional finish. Following the service, I requested that the salon either correct the manicure or remove the product. Both requests were denied by a raging owner who kept repeating "I know how to do nails." My old nail tech retired this past winter and so my friend who lives in San Mateo let me know her nail place is opening a spot in sf and low and behold it is right my by house! Hallelujah! Hahah my friend's nails were always on point so I was excited to try and they have been great! It is so hard to find a good nail salon, so extremely happy I found one. My nails last longer, at least 4 weeks, don't break and the design so far has been good if not better then where I used to go. Highly recommend go check them out! **** SOFT OPENING **** Things I wish I knew before going: - check the instagram for their prices - make sure to research your nail artist/technician and dont put "any" for your appt - expect to be there for 2+ hours if you're doing 2 services and they don't give you 2 technicians First off, the workers there are SOOOOO nice like I could not have asked for anything better. This is not a reflection of how I was treated or any workers in particular, more about the business and the team as a whole. First off, personally I've moved around a lot so I've had my fair share of salons, but i've never been there for over 2 hours for a gel pedi and gel mani. The whole point of gel is to last longer without the wait of air drying. So this may be super normal and I've just been going to odd one off salons who aren't taking as much time, but even with like a 8-10 min massage with hot rocks etc a lot of add ons, it's never been an hour in the chair for a pedicure. Also other places have started doing / prepping my nails while i'm getting my pedicure. Obv they don't have to do this, but for gel french tips on natural nails, I don't think an hour is necessary.... and that's just the basic drill prep. No soak, no massage. Next, 2/10 of my fingers got cut during the drilling process. This has never happened before, but accidents happen. Fine. But I had gotten suspicious when the artist was redoing the french tips 3-4 times on my nails. (hence why I don't believe every simple (no real design) gel manicure will take 75 mins for them (like the manager said) Lastly, My gel pedicure has wrinkles, physical wrinkles like texture, something I don't even get doing gel on my own toes at home. When I was paying, she kept switching the total between 3 numbers: $85, $110, $115. That wasn't exactly reassuring, make sure to have their soft opening instagram on standby, tbh I had no idea it was their soft opening. I compared the prices with other salons on their website and it looked the same, but sf might be more expensive. Their business is VERY broken apart. There's no customer service contact info on their website, so unhappy with the service I dmed their account. At first I was told I could get a refund for the manicure by someone on their team. But I showed them my pedicure as well and asked for a manager. They didn't have manager contact info, so i had to give my number for them to call once they got into the salon. she never called me. I had to reach out on instagram again to ask what number to call. They just gave me the salons number and said she's there now. She told me to come in and she can fix my nails, reluctantly I did so bc it didn't sound like there was any other solution. I don't even know if I wanted a full refund, definitely don't think I should've paid full price though for uneven nails that weren't symmetrical. So I had to go back and she drilled the gel off again, then redid the manicure, but there's only so much you can do when your nails got cut unevenly. Pedicure wasn't touched. The place is clean one nail tech always cleans between her clients and i loveeee that, they didn't have all the colors on the swatches, no massage chairs, and play fire music. read more

I got a gel overlay manicure and after leaving I'm noticing little details and it feels overpriced for the quality ($75 not including tip). The shaping and polish application is sloppy, and there are some bubbles in the gel, overall the manicure looks fine until you look closer. For $75 I'd recommend leaving the city to the other Nail Box locations. I got a beautiful gel-x set at the Daly City location for a wedding and loved it, so I won't be back at the SF location. read more

I went in for a Gel-X set, and the overall appointment took about 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, the Gel-X extensions were poorly applied. There was a significant gap between my natural nail bed and the Gel-X, which caused dirt to get trapped underneath. Despite showing reference photos, the incorrect extension length was applied. When this was noticed, I was scolded by the supervisor, even though the mistake was due to the technician applying the wrong size. Additionally, I experienced burning sensations multiple times during the curing process, which was uncomfortable. It became clear during the appointment that the technicians are still learning how to apply Gel-X. I was not informed beforehand that I would essentially be a practice/learning case, which was frustrating and disappointing. I left the appointment feeling very frustrated and saddened by the experience. Overall, I would recommend going to a more experienced salon. read more
