Finally had the opportunity to try Pollo Campero after one opened up in my neighborhood. The fried chicken was excellent. It almost has a red golden brown cross to it. But that's just all the flavor. And the flavor is not just in the fried chicken skin, but also in bed into the chicken itself all the way down to the bone. The grilled chicken was also very great tasting and was all well seasoned. Being that today was the opening day. The service was a little bit on the slower side being how busy they were, but I have no doubt that within the next couple of weeks that'll be something that they can improve on. This particular Pollo Campero location is brand new so the building itself is pristine .

This place was a lot better than I expected. The chicken nuggets and beans along with the fries were decent. It the really winner was the empanadas. The menu is simple and price fair so not much to complain about. The place was also clean and they got the food out fast while still keeping it hot. I would cold back if I was in the mood for fast empanadas.

Let's start off with the chicken. Way too salty ... bread tasted like cardboard. It was dry and hard. Last the rice side was not even a serving. No taste. I would not come back or recommend. I paid about $12.50 for a two piece . No drink.

The ambiance is bright Central America colors. Pop music playing and food delivered to your table. The service was quick and friendly with a smile. The food was fresh and very flavorful. The chicken was juicy and tender with fun flavors bursting with every bite. The side macaroni and cheese was a little over cooked but had good flavor. The fried plantain was good, maybe a little under cooked but still not bad. I feel like maybe the come frozen, which makes sense because it's so hard to find good fresh ones. It came with two corn tortillas that were good. Over all the meal feed me and my husband and was just a tad over $20. For the price I feel like the flavor and friendliness is worth the money. Come check it out and ask for juana she was just so friendly.

The chicken sandwich was dry as my son's elbows. The fries were cold. What a waste of money. The sandwich needs some sauce or an option of something. You could choke on how dry it was

First visit and last visit. Forgot my sauce. I opened bottle of hotsauce and bottle bottom popped off and spilled all over table my clothes and shoes and floor. So no apologies. Went to restroom that was out of paper towels. Cleaned myself up as much as I could. Got back to table with cold food. They just cleaned floor and said nothing else. Any other place would have comped my food or else brought me hot food. Any other time I would have cussed out everyone at the counter. My coworker talked me down. Will not be going back to a place that doesn't gaf about their customer's. I didn't even eat all my food. Too much for nothing good.

Beware of the Empanadas. Bit into this one and found the bone fragment in it.

Took a bite out of the empanada. An came away with a surprise. Bone fragment. Careful what you order there. You should not have to check food before you eat.

Don't waste your money! This "pollo" tastes really bad! It's poor quality and the flavor is terrible! And don't get me started on the PRICES! Is super expensive!

My wife and I tried the 2 piece combo. With 1/2 second meal. I paid $15.46 or close to that. I had fries as my side. My wife had rice. The fries were skinny fries and cool not hot. They were just a tad hotter than cold. The chicken was crispy but the seasoning had either Cumin or Curry and it overwhelmed my taste buds. I only ate the drumstick and tossed my fries with my dogs. My wife was not impressed. Her rice was cold and she also didn't like the seasoning on the breading of the chicken. I'm glad we used a coupon we will not be back.

    My to go chicken...

The Citrus chicken is absolutely delicious! It's my new favorite chicken serving restaurant. I will definitely tell my friends and family. Service was fast, and the experience was better than I expected!

Campero Spicy Chicken Sandwich Meal. No chicken sandwiches, they didn't give it to me. Terrible

Terrible. Never going again. They forgot my chicken sandwiches. Fries are cold and soggy. Didn't go inside. So no ambiance. But there was barbecue or some sauce all over the outside wall next to the drive thru. Service was terrible obviously, the people working there do not know how to complete and order. Will never see another dollar from me.

Service was fast, food was super yummy aside from the octopus i had which was chewy? Im not sure if octopus is normally that texture, i thought itd be more like calamari which i love. Desert was yum too. I got a free slice of flan but the their sparkler candle fizzled out before the end of the bday song which was a lil awkward lol Really cool vibe of this place, i sat on a really comfy sofa with pillows and my husband sat across from me in like a couch chair haha. Dim lighting for sure but I think it just adds to the ambiance. Also there was a cool looking bar. Maybe would go back on a weekend next time later in the evening to experience this place at its peak.

The drinks were definitely strong (maybe a little too strong for my taste), but some people might enjoy that. The ambiance was really nice and romantic, which made it a pleasant place for a dinner out. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty for a Saturday night. While we enjoyed our visit, I'm not sure there was anything that would specifically make me go out of my way to return. Still, it was a nice experience overall.

Their chicken is made fresh and is super juicy. The chicken breast, which at most places is the driest cut of meat, at Aye Papa Que Rico is surprisingly moist and flavorful. While the chicken is what they've become known for, I recommend anything on the menu. The lamb plate is one of my favorite dishes. It's super scrumptious. Most dishes come complete with their rice, beans, and tortillas. There is a bit of a fun internal debate on which housemade salsa is the best. I love switching between the verde and rojo, though the salsa they serve with their chips is amazing, especially if you like some fresh chunks of veggies in your salsa. The Cuban sandwich deserves its own paragraph with how tasty it is. While it may not be traditional to dip a Cuban sandwich in salsa, at Ay Papa Que Rico it has become a local practice. After one dip, you'll understand why. Their staff is super friendly and make you feel like family very quickly. It is clear they want to see each guest enjoy their meal and that they take much pride in serving each dish. The restaurant is always clean and well taken care of. Aye Papa Que Rico has become a go-to for myself and any friends or family. Their dishes are perfect for any gathering or hang out. I always receive a warm welcome when I arrive with Aye Papa Que Rico in hand! :)

I remember coming to this restaurant in 2021 shortly after they opened and I decided to come back and see what's new. This restaurant offers a variety of food, influenced by Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and Cuba... Oh, and of course the US. Their bread and butter is the charbroiled chicken that usually comes with a side of rice and beans, tortillas, and red and green salsa. They have other things on the menu, such as a good variety of sandwiches, including Cuban sandwich, appetizers, such as potato balls stuffed with ground beef, yuca, fries, green, fried plantains, and ripened plantains also known as maduros. The restaurant also offers other things like a plate with ribeye steak, rope of vieja, which is a Cuban dish, and ribs. They have a wide selection of sides, beverages, and desserts. The restaurant is nice and clean. There is plenty of seating for large and small parties. The bathroom was pretty clean as well, but you do need a code to get in. The wait staff was very attentive and offered to explain the dishes and offer suggestions. I spoke to Adrian, who was very nice. This business is a family owned business local to Bakersfield. I ordered the half chicken with yellow rice and black beans. The black beans were exactly like my ex father-in-law's who was Cuban. I ordered a side of the maduros and also ordered ham croquettes -- the ham croquettes were amazing! The chicken was delicious and included a wing, thigh, drumstick, and a breast with the rib bones. The chicken was so delicious and tasted fresh. The skin was charbroiled, so I got some crunchy bits in there, overall it was a good portion and easily shareable, especially if you get appetizers and extra sides. I am definitely going back to try other things such as the stuffed potato balls, Cuban sandwich, and the ribs. There is so much more to try, additionally the restaurant serves Salvadoran and Argentinian sausages. Enjoy!
