    Bonus food!

This place is awesome! Their food is always amazing. And their staff is super friendly. They also have a very good rewards program if you use their app. Me and my wife went by tonight for a to-go order, and they were short a couple fryers tonight. My wife's chicken sandwich was going to take 15 minutes to cook, and so they offered us whatever we wanted to snack on while we waited. (We picked their beans, and an empanada with sauce.) Their portions are very generous, and their pricing is also really good. It is also very hard to beat their fried chicken!

Service was trash. To be honest it was a terrible experience, the service was super bad, the cashier lady was smacking her gum, slow, and didn't even seem like she wanted to work. After I ordered each item she would rush me and give me my total, I didn't even finish ordering. After she finished taking my order she didn't give me my change, she started messing with her hair. When she was cleaning the tables I saw she had a candy in her hand that she was taking in and out of her mouth. Honestly seeing that that disgusted me. The only one that looked that was working and hustling was a young man in the back packing the orders. He had a slick back ponytail. Seriously though for future reference I won't be returning at all.

I noticed this place had great reviews and I wanted to try something new. I went here on a week day and it wasn't too busy around noon. I came during the pandemic. Below are some notes for you to determine if this is the best place for you to visit. This place reminds me of los Hermanos pollos from the series in breaking bad When I entered I wasn't greeted, but they knew I was there as they looked at me. The cost of the food is reasonable. The location is good as you can get gas and stroll to a shopping center across the street. It seems like a high traffic area so be careful if you choose to walk. They have plenty of parking. Despite the place not being busy and only one other customer being in line while I was there, the place was not clean on the inside. They had tables in front of the register to ensure social distancing. The staff had on face masks but the masks did not cover their noses so this isn't effective or appropriate in a food establishment during a pandemic. The governor and CDC have guidelines and policies in place for protection if you can't follow them I wonder what else you choose not to follow. All the staff had on gloves, but not sure of the purpose of the gloves when they handled money and then food without changing them. They touched hair and their face and then even took back returns and never seemed to change the gloves. A customer came back in and returned some food items that weren't made properly. A young man working on the side took the items and gave them to the cashier. The lady at the register brought the food back to the cook and left it in the hot zone. I do not know where the food ended up. It should of immediately been thrown away and not brought back to the cooking area especially during COVID-19. I asked the the young man to change his gloves before picking up my bag to give me. If I didn't enter I would of never known that they touched several items and didn't change their gloves, but would be under the impression of safe practices. I was able to watch the person selecting my food, but felt I needed to after seeing questionable practices. The crispy/fried chicken and fries were okay. I would proceed with caution when coming to this location if you choose. Good luck.

came here again for lunch on a Sunday, with 4 other friends , most who wanted to try the grilled chicken. They said we would have to wait 30 minutes as they had none. Strange that at high lunch time there was no grilled chicken. Well we all had the fried; yes delicious but disappointed since we told our friends this restaurant offered both fried and grilled choices for lunch.! On a side note, one of my lady friends used the bathroom and said it was filthy and notified a worker.

Pollo Campero has some of the best fried chicken anywhere. The crust is sort of like Tempura batter except a little heavier. When they cook the fried chicken they always ensure that the oil is hot enough so that it's not a greasy mess yet flavorful. I really enjoyed their sides as well so that's a big bonus over some canned baked beans or whatever they offer at other places. I like the rice and Campero beans (small red beans with bits of smoked pork). What else can I say? There's a reason why this place is so highly rated!

Not your usual fast food place! Causal on the inside so you can sit down and have lunch/dinner. But if you're in a rush you can go through the drive through! The chicken was so good! Had the baked chicken (with tortillas) and fried chicken. The baked chicken had a lime flavor to it, it was really tasty and delicious! The fried chicken was soo crispy. I had the 4 piece meal which includes 2 sides as well. I definitely recommend ordering both baked and fried. The mashed potatoes tasted homemade! But the fried plantains were okay... not my favorite side haha Can't wait to return!

    I finished eating.

The food is great, but the customer service is poor. You are treated as if your business means nothing. They no longer have grilled chicken and that is communicated as if you either have to take it or leave. I would recommend to train your staff in customer service. Check your receipt too, sometimes you are charged different prices for the exact same food.

I came to this location tonight and was over charged for my meal! The prices in the board isn't correct! I came home and place the same order online to see if I was wrong. And I was over charged for my food! The online total was almost $9.00 and I was charged almost $16! This has upset me to the point where I want to drive this food all the way back just to get a refund! Ridiculous!!

Food is delish! Ordered the grill and fries chicken with plantains and rice. (family Meal deal) only thing I wished was different was that the meal deal came with a drink. But no big deal. The food was great. I especially love the sauce that came with it. Extra yummy! I'm too full to try to grilled chicken at the time of the review, so I hope it doesn't disappoint, LOLOL!

Picked up a late night dinner on the go, ordered 4 piece chicken dinner 1/2 grilled and 1/2 fried with two sides - plantains and Yuca fries. I also added in a empanada. Everything was very good. I preferred the grilled chicken as it was delicious however fried was also VG. Empanada was great! Everything had a great flavor, no service issues at all and great prices. I will be definitely be back.

Whenever I travel to a city that I have never set foot in, I check out local Groupon deals. You can save a bit when you do. It also makes you discover great food and figure out where things are. I bought two Groupons before I headed to Charlotte. One of them was for Pollo Campero. I have been on a fried chicken kick for a bit. My eyes lit up when I found out that this place serves fried chicken. More importantly, this place also has empanadas, which is a weakness of mine. The funny thing about both restaurants with Groupon promotions is that I had a difficult time opening the main door at both places. Perhaps not working out for nearly a week made me weak and seek nourishment. A female staff member helped open the door for me. I had reviewed the online menu before coming here. I looked at the menu again to make sure that I had everything. I ordered the following items: - Four pieces of chicken - half fried and half grilled with a lemon herb mix - Campero beans - Campero rice - Coleslaw - Empanada trio - Peruvia verde, chicken chipotle, and Latin buffalo - Flan The chicken meal comes with a tortilla. It was a lot of food for $20. I went over by a dollar. There is a waiting area in the restaurant for those who are ordering takeout. You can also dine in. Since it was my last day in Charlotte, I wanted to have dinner in my room and start packing for my morning flight out the next day. Pollo Campero is like the Spanish version of Popeyes, but with more sides and dessert options. The verdict? Both the fried and lemon herb chicken pieces were delicious. The meat was tender, flavourful, crispy, and juicy. So good! I could simply eat the chicken and call it good. I loved the Campero beans and rice. They complemented the chicken beautifully. I was not a fan of the coleslaw, though. It was supposed to be creamy, but it was a mix of that and water. I simply didn't like how it tasted. I didn't enjoy the flan, either. I was disappointed. It was too sweet for my liking. There was so much food that I ended up taking the empanadas on the plane and eating them there for lunch. All three flavours were amazing. I liked the spiciness in each of them. The chicken was yummy in all of them. I wish that I had ordered more of them instead of the flan. If I am ever back in Charlotte, I would come here for more delicious chicken and empanadas. I'm so glad that I found this place on Groupon. (145)

Yummy !!! You can get it grilled or fried. It was low cost and fantastically awesome. We found it on Groupon for a dine in special. I believe we were the only non Hispanic families eating lunch but there were no problems ordering! With a family of 4 and two kids under 7 we ordered the 9 piece family deal special. We should have ordered up. Over all, the kids were skeptical, but they ate a ton! We Highly recommend the food and service! The food: Mixed grilled and fried chicken- both nice and juicy Cole slaw- simple and good Fries- typically little salt Street corn salad- a must get, mixed with different vegetables

    So much chicken!

I ordered online without any issues, paid online, then came through the drive thru to pick everything up. You'll notice there is a huge menu when you pull up - lots of options for everyone. I'm not big on slimy textures (like okra when it's not fried), so I figured this was the safest way to give them a shot. I actually really enjoyed them and highly recommend them from here. They were tasty, fresh, well seasoned, and not slimy at all. I'm glad I got the oysters and wings as I was not a fan of the chicken Philly. It was not traditional at all. The exterior of the building is beautiful, decked out in a beautiful blue paint with pink roses (later discovered, to honor the Mrs Queen Beulah herself. We came here on a whim, after no more clucks could be given; the other food options in that area were either a long wait, or about to close. So after rumbling tummies, no clucks were given and we headed to Beulah's. I ordered a chicken Sammie, some fries and a Coca-Cola since I'm just a classic cluck, and it was all fantastic... some might say, im-peck-able! This place was way better than the popular Chicken chain with the cows (you know the one). It was clean, quick and tasty. The breading at Beulah's was perfectly seasoned and crisped, thick in all the right places, and the chicken quality was bawking fantastic - juicy, moist and there were no weird tidbits of chicken junk in there, which was very much appreciated. The fries were just the right thickened, seasoned and fried to perfection. After eating, my tummy was stuffed like a turkey on Thanksgiving by the end of my meal. But I can't forget about the signature sauce, which was also yummy, similar to that of a Canes or Chick-fil-A. Just the right balance of tangy, sweet, salty, savory - they nailed it! They also had various dessert options including cookies and icecream. It was all phenomenal! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I was clucking all the way home, expressin how much I enjoyed it to the gal pals. Plus, reading Beulah's story and family history that was framed on the wall, by our table, brought a shedding tear to my eye, just like when I watch jeopardy every night. I mean who doesn't cry at jeopardy. Buyer beware: Restaurant space inside is limited, bawk (but), they have a covered patio with plenty of seats, and here it seems more of a grab n go place anyways. Parking was fairly close and accessible too. I regret to inform I didn't have the opportunity to check out the restrooms, but I'm sure they were of fine suit. I got the 1/4 chicken, white meat with reg side of white rice and premium side of plantains. For the dipping sauce I was limited to the yellow mild sauce or the spicy hot sauce. They were all out of the green mild sauce. Just for context I arrived at 11:40, they open at 11. Not sure how they ran out so fast but I would have loved to try it because the yellow sauce was just ok and the red was cold and just spicy no real flavor. Thankfully the chicken was flavorful and juicy, the white rice was white rice and the plantains were cooked beautifully. Also the cashier was great and provided excellent service. All in all, I would visit again but no rush to go back again. Viva Chicken still takes the lead for now for me. I would love them to mature their side menu, increase their sanitation grade and have the green sauce available.
