I went through the drive-thru between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM on 11/23/2024, and the person taking orders had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. She was rude, unprofessional, and didn't even bother to ask if we wanted drinks or if we preferred tortillas or dinner rolls with our meals--we had to ask her ourselves. They were waiting on plátanos, so they parked us at the front. When the lady brought our order to the car, her attitude was just as bad. She handed us the bag without saying a word, and when we asked her a question, she turned around, gave us a rude look, and snapped, "Yes, everything is there," before walking away. I recently decided to give Pollo Campero a try, opting for it over reliable options like El Pollo Loco or authentic Mexican taco spots. In hindsight, this wasn't the best decision. Starting with the positives, the plantains were the only highlight of the meal, though they were mostly bland and lacked much flavor. The nuggets were... meh, nothing to write home about. The rice and beans on the side were equally uninspiring, failing to excite my taste buds. One of the oddest parts of the experience was the menu. With a name like Pollo Campero, I expected to find tacos or burritos, but they were nowhere to be seen. Instead, I was greeted with "dinner rolls" on the menu, which should have been a sign of what was to come. For $25.11, I left feeling disappointed and wishing I had gone to El Pollo Loco or a real Mexican taco spot instead. I shouldn't have to doctor or create something a new from food I just order, but that's what I'll be doing in order to finish this meal. But to not have any in the afternoon as well is frustrating. It's also pretty pricey so it's upsetting when you're paying a higher amount and not being able to truly get what you want. I've been here twice and food came out tasting great. The fried chicken was juicy and packed with flavor. The empanadas were flaky and packed with filling although they were quite pricey at $3 a piece. I paid $2.50 due to a current promotion that they were running but I'm not sure if I would pay full price for 1 piece. Also want to mention that the establishment itself was very clean. During my latest visit, I ordered online and was quoted 35 mins for the food to be prepared. Seems pretty long for fast food standards. I came to Pollo Campero since it just opened up and I wanted something different. Please note, is not Mexican food, so if you're looking for that, you won't get what you expect. I ordered several items for this visit. Empanada, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Campero beans, Chicken nuggets, fries and a roll. The empanada was my favorite of the dishes. The beans were really tasty. Peppery and flavorful which I enjoy, but my order was mostly sauce with a little beans. The chicken patty for the sandwich was large and very crispy. The seasoning is a little different than other Chicken places but still good. Fries...why did I do this to myself? They're average at best. My box was full of weird tiny pieces about an inch to an inch and a half the longest. The roll was soft and good, but something you could get at costco. A wierd observation....all the containers of everything were huge and only partyl filled. Like 25% full. See pics. My biggest issue I think is that everything was just barely warm. It was obvious nothing was made or even packed fresh. I placed my order in drive thru and when I got to the window (no one in front of me) they had the order packed and handed to me as I gave my debit card. I did try everything in the parking lot before driving home so I could experience it right away vs 10 minutes from when I got it so I know the temperature was not great. Also kind of expensive for what you get. Although the service was quick...I would rather wait a few minutes longer for hot food. I'll likely come back for an empanada but that may be it. read more

***Warning all bad reviews are true*** I wrote that the bad reviews of rudeness made me not want to try this place and the manager wrote to me. Well I thought in all fairness I would try it. I ordered a 2 piece meal with 2 chicken breasts. This was 6:15 on 03/04/25 at dinner time. Did they have the chicken? No and I would have to wait 20-30 minutes. Not sorry,not nice. By the way I can pan fry chicken faster than that and they're using a pressure cooker. No one else was there but the line at Miguel's was 20 cars deep. So many people are not coming back. Customer service is the back bone of any restaurant and I'm expecting this place to put a sign under new management soon or go out of business. I tried to get a meal, I had cash and I was turned away. Finally do you know what KFC has? Chicken, do you know what they don't run out of? Chicken, know how long they've been in business? This place was so fire. Fried chicken was juicy and flavorful. I've tried MANY different pollo camperos, even in Central America, and this one is very close to being as good as those. The ones in LA aren't even as good. Yucca fires were delicious. Horchata was too, and not too sweet. It has a similar taste to homemade Central American horchata. I'm docking a star because the tortillas were cold and they changed the rice. The beans tasted like American chili beans, but I think that's because they're going for frijoles rancheros. Fam was psyched to try this place - ordered through Uber Eats - Family Pack: 20 pc w/half baked chicken, half fried chicken, macaroni, maduros, rice, yuca fries and tortillas. Order came an hour after estimated time - both chicken boxes were fried instead of half and half - tortillas and sauces were not put in with the order. Yuca fries were dry, the sides were modest and the seasoning on the chicken could have been taken up a notch. For the price you pay after all the service fees, definitely not worth the wait, taste or price. The empanadas were flavorful and crunchy.. the Mac-Cheese was Cheesey and good for a fast food place. The fried chicken were legs and thighs, moist and flavorful. Really good again for fast food. The beans were like ranch beans, very good. We also got a chicken sandwich. They are made with a fried chicken fillet and have a sauce and pickles. You can have it classic or spicy, we chose spicy. The bun was soft, the chicken fillet again moist and flavorful. Spicy...mmm not crazy spicy. The sauce that they used I didn't care for at all. The plantains were okay. Overall, I would come back. Food was very good for fast food. Upon asking, the spicy chicken sandwich the sauce was what makes it spicy. The classic sandwich doesn't have the sauce. As I open the box, the chicken looks dry and sad. I can smell their spices but they don't smell appetizing at all. The chicken is outstanding and the sides are very good as well. We really liked the beans and rice and the kids loved the Mac and cheese.
