PROS: Love the concept. The food was very good. I ordered what they are known for, chicken. It was very good and the sides were enjoyable. The sauce bar was a positive as it offered some fun flavors. CONS: Seriously the service was terrible. The employees did not care that you were there and the general activity behind the counter appeared very disorganized with a couple people not really contributing to the processing of people's orders. Attitude, slow, and a real disdain towards the customer. There needs to be some better training or structure to maximize the process for the kitchen and order fillers. I will return but if the level of service does not improve, I will quit visiting here on my trips to Florida. read more

We were visiting the Holy Land Experience in Orlando and stepped out to enjoy lunch nearby. We found Pollo Tropical and were SO impressed! Not only was the food really good, the staff was AWESOME! For fast food, I was impressed with how healthy their menu is. Their chicken Caesar salad had HUGE chunks of delicious chicken. My husband loved his chicken & beans dish, too. The staff kept checking on us and making sure that we were happy. I also saw them interact kindly with each other and having fun. It was a very pleasant experience. This location is horrible. Maybe I haven't had Pollo Tropical in a while and maybe my memory of Pollo is clouded with that of my experiences in Miami, but this place needs to get it together. The chicken caesar wrap was just not good. It was stuffed with an overabundance of lettuce, maybe 3 pieces of chicken, and a slop of dressing. I also specifically asked them if they had fried yuca or yuca fries as a side order and I was assured that they did and it would be included in my order. I went thru the drive thru to order a family meal. The lady at the window was very cold and acted like she wanted to be left unbothered. I asked for her opinion on sauces that would be good with my meal and she rudely rolled her eyes and said "just picked some thing". The reason I gave this restaurant two stars is because my chicken was fresh and flavorful. But the customer service was lacking and makes you don't want to come back. I decided on the vegetarian bowl dish that has white rice, black beans, tomato, and cheese. I also decided to try the yucca cheesy bites. I was not feeling the yucca cheesy bites. I now know why the newest location to hit Jacksonville has a line out the door every time I try to stop by. It's more like a 3.5 star review, but I went down because of the snafu they made with our order. They got the order right, it just took a really really long time for us to get it. They did 'mend' their mistake with two extra wings & a free dessert. My husband & I split the 8 wing combo with two sides & ordered the cheesy yuca bites as well. It was more than enough food for the two of us and we were happy with the price at which we got out the door. Upon first hearing about Pollo Tropical I was really exicted to try it. I love fresh food, salads, grilled meats and most of all Black Beans. Anything that comes with Black Beans, I'm a fan of. Unfortunately, I was a little dissapointed. While I did enjoy the beans, there wasn't enough greens or veggies availalable to balance out the meal. Options: The choices are good, but really I would've expected the chicken to stand out The Pork my wife got was excellent. The chicken I got was mediocre. It was good but not really stand out against other specialty chicken places. For a 1/4 chicken I expected well... a 1/4 chicken, I felt a bit stiffed with the small portion or unusually small bird. Maybe I'm used to roided out super chickens but it was not filling, and without the sides I would've left hungry. The Pork serving size was also a bit small, but made up for it with flavor. 3. Sides: these shouldn't matter, most fast chicken places like this the sides are just filler. That said, we had salad, fries, and rice, and none of them were better than mediocre. However, the management and employees very horrific. 1) The cashier took 5 minutes to find an employee to read our coupon. 2) The family before us had to bag their entire dinner to go, no one would help. 3) Our food sat on the counter for 4 minutes before I had to ask if it was mine. 4) I had to bag my own food and still did not have everything. 5) The manager kept shrugging his shoulders and saying oh well, about his employees. 6) The so call girl at the grill kept rolling her eyes and shaking her head at customers complaints. 7) The young guy preparing the food to go reminded me of a zombie, just floating around in space. Pollo tropical has the Latin/island flavor many of us crave. There aren't too many fast food restaurants that serve this kind of food. With that being said there's nothing tastier than enjoying this kind of food when it is homemade and completely fresh. Pollo tropical attempts to do this, but I find that they often fail when it comes to serving truly fresh chicken. It's understandable because this is fast food and they have to meet demand, but when I come here I often end up getting chicken that isn't really hot/fresh, and is a bit dry. One place that does this well, is Boston market. the chicken is pretty consistent, and easy to eat off the bone, and very clean. Pollo tropical struggles with offering this. When things are FRESH, pollo tropical is amazing and has very competitive pricing. But when it isn't truly fresh, which is pretty often, then your better off going somewhere else. Unfortunaly, although I read that this place was not recommendable by other people, I wanted to try it anyway. Don't get me wrong now, the food is a little bit dry for my taste, but overall, it was good enough. However, whoever is in charged should managed the employees the right way. My first time here was about a year ago and it was a bad experience. I can't recall why it was, but I just remembered I didn't want to go back. Anyways, I went back again recently and here's what I have to say to justify the 1 star. Let me start by saying within seconds after getting our food from the drive-thru, our order was completely messed up. That was an easy fix though as all I had to do was go inside and show the manager my receipt. After that, I found out they ran out of hot sauce AND curry mustard, the only two sauce I ever get. When inside, I also noticed the area where you would get the sauces from was a complete mess. We ordered 4 mojo pork tropi-chops and 1 half chicken with mashed potatoes and waffle fries. When we got home, we discovered that the pork was extremely salty to the point where it was no longer edible. I'm not sure exactly how that happened but they don't normally taste that way! We ended up throwing away all 4 of the tropi-chops. Thankfully the half chicken was finger lickin' good as per usual. Overall, my friends and I will never go back to this location. However, that's not to say we won't ever go back to Pollo tropical because we absolutely will. I've personally never had issues with any other Pollo tropical besides this one. My typical meal here is a half chicken with waffle fries and mashed potatoes. I would recommend that to anyone! read more

I love Pollo Tropical, but the service at this location is completely unacceptable! My son and I stopped in for a quick dinner this week. I couldn't find any forks or knives at the salsa bar, so I approached the counter. They said they didn't have any forks or knives. The only utensil available to eat our meals with was a plastic soup spoon. No apologies. There were piles of dirty stainless flatware stacked up, but no one seemed to care to take the time to wash it! If it were my restaurant, I'd at least make a run to Target (across the parking lot) and buy up all the plastic utensils they had. read more
