I love Pollo Tropical, but the service at this location is completely unacceptable! My son and I stopped in for a quick dinner this week. I couldn't find any forks or knives at the salsa bar, so I approached the counter. They said they didn't have any forks or knives. The only utensil available to eat our meals with was a plastic soup spoon. No apologies. There were piles of dirty stainless flatware stacked up, but no one seemed to care to take the time to wash it! If it were my restaurant, I'd at least make a run to Target (across the parking lot) and buy up all the plastic utensils they had. read more

It wasn't very late when I dined there but the empty dining room should have been a clue! Staff was RUDE! I couldn't decide what I wanted and rather than help me to decide they were antagonizing, as if how dare that I, the only person in that restaurant not on payroll, not be able to make up my mind. Witnessed staff wander around bored with nothing to do, having "cleaned" the dining room, but from my table I could see how poorly cleaned the other tables were. I doubt a rag dipped in a cleaner had touched them to sterilize them in a week. Ordered the pork sandwich, which tasted watery. Wanted yucca, and they served me the fried yucca without asking. It was dry and obviously old, but I didn't want to inconvenience the over worked staff to remake my food. While the food was good, it took 34 minutes from the time our order was placed to the time it was put on the counter (time on the receipt). The cashier was great but a customer that had come in well after us complained about the wait and she got his order together and sent him on his way while the rest of us patiently waited. I was introduced to this chain down in South Florida, and I was excited to see it come to Orlando. They have a fast food ambiance but surprisingly good food. Pollo features Cuban food, with the primary focus being chicken (naturally). Their chicken is marinated in mojo and then flame-grilled, resulting in a pleasant char and incredible flavor. In addition, they have excellent traditional sides such as black beans and rice, plantains and yucca. Their prices are quite cheap for the quality; you can get a quarter chicken with black beans and rice for about $6. A great place to stop for lunch, or to do some take-out dinner. If you have never been to a POLLO TROPICAL you must go. I should start and say I LOVE POLLO TROPICAL and its my favorite fast service restaurant. I do not like the service at the particular location. I grew up near the Altamonte location and have been going since I was really young and before that the one in Miami. Altamonte location puts this location to shame. I have multiple times received the wrong food, the manager walks in circles and is beyond clueless and they can never seem to know how to ring up coupons. I usually try to go to Colonial location but this location is so convenient. I have eaten probably ever item on the menu over 15 years. The sauce bar that was added maybe 5 years or so ago is amazing. Try them all. My favorite is the curry mustard, salsa, papaya bbq. If you have not had Spanish food dont be scared. The chicken is the moist chicken you are going to find. I love the black beans and rice and plantains. The chicken soup gives me the warm feeling I'm at my mother in laws home. This is probably besides subway the fastest healthiest food you will find. Many options if you are on a diet. read more

I been coming to this location since they open. This is one of the worse experience I had ever. My order was for family meals all dark meat, plus 1/2 chicken all dark meal, plus we always add to the family meal which is large corn, 2 large mac and cheese, and a bowl of soup. Like always, it cost about $30+ which is a great deal. Than the experience went south quickly, 1st the soup was all scrap with little to no soup, it was almost as thick as molasses. The employee stated than all they have for sale, and they might not have soup in the back, if they don't have it....this is what you get?!? WTH?!? Than she charged us for small sides which the family deal usually come with large sides. So I have to buy additional sides to get our original order correct and cost us extra $6-7 since now they charge us the small side and we have to paid full price for the large instead of the discounted price from the family deal. The soup was room temperature, the corn was tasteless, the chicken and black bean was good. The dining area was a mess and no one clean up. The lady that usually run the place is not there. This pollo drive thru is one of the worse! The customer service that was shown WAS NONE! The guy at the drive thru window made it seem like it was a burden to take my order as if I was wasting his precious time at work! I say there for 15 mins trying to put my order in and waited another 5 mins after my food was already prepared, but he didn't want to hand me my food! So I decided to stop by for a quick lunch with my girlfriend. As we walked in the line was super long. I went in the restroom and OMG it was soooooooo dirty! I was already disappointed. Nonetheless we decided to still stay. We ordered our food and as I went to look for somewhere to sit all of the tables were dirty with plates and garbage. I can understand one table but it was every empty table even the trash was piled. I was so disgusted, as we waited for our food which OK forever a guy came to pick up the dirty dishes by the trash. Yummy, I must say. I used to get this as take out when I was living in Orlando. It was the best take out food. You can't beat the prices too. Came here for a late lunch. food was amazing. My GF and I both got the Chicken Tropi Chop. The service was outstanding from the greeter to the lady cleaning the tables. There's a first time for everything. It's actually possible to cook a dry chicken thigh. It was as if I was eating a cotton ball. Not even dousing a small piece in cilantro garlic sauce could make it somewhat palatable. Bathroom was also disgusting with pee on the floor and a backed up urinal. read more

So here's the thing about this Pollo Tropical. I've been coming here for a few years now and there is a day and night difference and literally it is between day and night. My average wait time in the afternoon and early evening is about 3-8 min (once your food is ordered). In the evening it jumps substantially to about 20-30 min. So definitely try not to go in the evening. That being said, the food here is pretty good for a fast food restaurant. They have a large menu with lots of options for individuals and families. They also understand the need to change up their menu and add some seasonal items which is a nice touch. There are two "go to" meals that I often have and if you are a first timer, would highly recommend. The first is the "Tropichop". It's a build-your-own bowl basically. Pick you rice, meat, and veggies and you're off. Fyi, the small size is MORE than enough. A regular will leave you left overs for the next day, or get it to share with someone else. My choice of meat here is always chicken and it's always very good. My other top choice for individuals is the Lite Grilled Chicken Breast. Comes with yellow rice w/ veggies and a balsamic tomato salad w/ onions which is awesome. They are both very affordable and great tasting. Fyi, this second choice may not be filling enough for some people, but remember it is off the "lite" menu. Now I strongly recommend before driving off of the drive through or if you get a "to go" order, double double check that you got everything and the right things you should. Every now and then they forget something in my bag to go and it's disappointing to get home when you've had your mind on something, and it's not in the bag. Just want to catch up on Netflix and now I have to drive back to get what was left out. Learned my lesson. It seems like when there is a Manager or Assistant is present the service either behind the counter or assisting with orders on the floor goes much faster and smoother. There is more of a focus and keeping the train running smoothly when they are there. Nighttime is when it definitely is noticeable that they are not there. Now I've never had anyone ever be rude there. They have always been nice and friendly. I'd just say the sense of urgency isn't there as much as the day goes into the evening. Get that part better and double check that the take out/drive through orders are correct and they'll be in better shape. read more

Today's visit, I order a quesdilla salad and the put the salad in a salad bowl with saran wrap and then put inside a white take out box that wouldn't close. Therefore salad wasn't even secure. Pollo's food is great as most of us know but the service in getting your order CORRECT through the drive-thru is yet another thing altogether. I would have to say that at least 70% of the time or more there is a mess-up in what I get in my to-go bag. I even asked to speak to the general manager since the store manager was not helpful in resolving future issues of this nature and its been what? six months and he has still not called me back. This was after leaving two personal messages for them. It just takes a lot of patience to be able to put up with missing items in your bag, especially when its yuca or sweet plantains ( since we may have had an urge to have this.....this is why we go there to begin with) or dark meat when you asked for white meat. I suggest that DOUBLE CHECK your items every one of them even if it takes a bit longer in the drive-thru once you receive them, this will save a lot of frustration when you get home. read more

So disgusting! Went here for dinner last night, bathrooms were nasty ( urine and toilet paper on the floors ) and the restaurant oh my god.. Our feet were sticking to the floor, seats and tables were greasy, trash was full, sauce bar was a total mess and the employees were rude and slow, didn't seem to give a damn about being there. The food is always good here that's why I always will return but today it made me kinda reconsider me and my lady ordered a salad chicken Caesar salad to be exact first the lady at the drive through was rude . So we just paid and began to drive away , when my lady said we should eat inside . So I parked we walked in the tables haven't been bust down cleaned or wiped and I asked someone to clean them . I love Pollo Tropical, eat there a couple of times a month at least but what a horrible experience at this store. I ordered the family meal with rice and beans and 2 sodas. Menu said 12.99 plus 3.98 for the sodas, bill was $21 because they no longer do beans they now do corn, HELLO!!!, this is Cuban/Caribbean food. Corn not part of that meal. If you want beans instead of corn there is a #3.95 update. I argued enough I got the meal free, not my intention it was to get beans as part of the meal. They also forced us to take the plantains.as part of the meal. Manager said they just changed the menu. I have not eaten at the south Florida stores in about a week. I hope this horrible idea only applies to stores in the north. Front counter servers were closed minded and non communicative. Manager explained she took it upon herself to sell me a build your own meal instead of what I ordered. Had they communicated with me I would have ordered 2 half chicken meals. Pollo Tropical has always been different in Central Florida, I hope I am not hit with this disappointment in the South Florida stores. We have eaten at this chain by the airport and always were happy with our meals. This one is terrible. My chicken was totally burned and the breast looked mangled. The leg was the size of a cornish hen. My rice was a big disgusting clump. To make matters worse my husband and I both had stomach aches about 30 minutes after eating the food. Always come here on my lunch breaks despite the horrible customer service. The food has always been good except today. I ordered a tropichop and it was watery! Most disgusting thing I have ever seen. It was half full with water from the beans and I had to drain it to eat it. I filled up a whole cup with the water that was in it. So disgusted I doubt I will ever return to this location. I have never been to a pollo tropical before so me and my boyfriend decided to try it on night last week. Bad decision. We went to this restaurant around 7 pm. We tried to order our food which I thought was a simple order. I wanted the regular chicken sandwich with coleslaw and my boyfriend wanted the mojo pork platter. He also wanted to try just the chicken bites for 2.99. We ordered the food and when we looked at the screen we were rung up for a chipotle chicken sandwich a mojo pork platter and a chicken bites MEAL. When I tried to correct the chicken sandwich and said I just wanted the regular one he told me it was the same sandwich and that he would just take the sauce off because they didn't have a button to do it another way. When we told him we didn't want the chicken bites meal he told us that was all they had and we had to get the side with it. I pointed out that the menu had three different prices. One for the bites alone one for meal with one side and one for the meal with two sides. He argued with us that we had to get the side because they don't sell them with out it. It was a few minutes of back and forth before we gave up and said to just take it off because we didn't want it anymore. A lady also walked up and told him to watch how much pork and chicken he sells because they were almost out.? Wow. We went to go get our sauces and stuff while we waited for our food and what a surprise they were all empty! When we got our food we still had the chicken bites meal (which I paid for) and my sandwich had chipotle sauce all over it. They also forgot my coleslaw. When I went to get it it took forever for them to even acknowledge that I was standing there and when I did get it it was like soup. The chicken was dry and over cooked. On top of that the restaurant was a mess. Dirty floors and when I went into the bathroom there was toilet paper everywhere and the trash was over flowing!
