They tried to do a place like this in Atlanta called El Pollo Loco- #Fail. Pollo Tropical is 2 Legit 2 Quit. Chicken is so fresh you can almost see them kill it in the back kitchen. The ribs are decent and the portions are adequate. Shout out to the 1/4 Chicken ribs and wings platter! At this particular location, the bathrooms seem to have been unattended for days. I felt dirty just touching faucet to wash my hands if that puts it in perspective. Our calls were never returned. I also have written the Corporate office twice, and they have not responded either. Very poorly run company. Don't let the tacky Tropicana-looking logo and fast-food vibe fool you, folks. This place is so ridiculously delicious. I'm actually bummed there are 0 locations in either of the Carolina's - and that would be my only complaint. My father and I eat here every time we are in South Florida and we never leave disappointed. I recommend the quarter or half chicken meal depending on your hunger level (i've never really been a fan of rice and beans, so I get it over salad). Also, the fried yucca! Yucca fries aren't very easy to find where I am - so when I saw it offered on the menu, I was very excited. Try them in the garlic cilantro and/or curry sauces, though I wish they offered some chimichurri. Lastly, their balsamic tomatoes/onions... simply amazing. This place always has a line in the drive thru lane, which is a good sign. Plus side, the wait is not usually very long. For lunch, I had the "create your own" tropichop. I got chicken, white rice, black beans, tomatoes, corn and sautéed onions. I also tried the fresh salsa and cilantro garlic. The chicken breast was chopped up. The chicken had a really good flavor, but some pieces were a little burnt which is to be expected since it is cooked on a grill. The white rice was cooked perfectly. The black beans had a great flavor as well. The sautéed onions were good, but their were cut up too big making them hard to eat. The sauces were the best part. The fresh salsa had a little kick, but added a fresh taste to the dish. The cilantro garlic sauce totally made the dish. I could eat this sauce with almost anything it. It had great flavor and was super creamy. I also got a side of plantains and fries. The plantains tasted great. Other fast food places should sell them because they taste so delicious and you can't find them often. The fries on the other hand were disgusting. They were hard as a rock, burnt and cold. I bet they had been sitting around for hours, which is surprising to me because of all the people waiting to order. read more
