Great experience here today! We came in around 12:30 on a Saturday and there was no wait. We were seated and our waitress (River) came and checked on us right away. She was very attentive and knew what we wanted without us even saying anything! My wife for the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and the broccoli cheese casserole and I had the grilled chicken pecan salad. Everything was delicious. Came here to have a meet up with an old coworker. They aren't old just changed jobs and no longer works with us. We sat at the bar waiting for the entire party and the bartender wasn't super fun. They checked on me but not my group when they showed up. Once everyone arrived we got sat in the dining room and ordered. It wasn't a large group but it was a decent sized group. On today's adventure, we find ourselves at an old favorite of mine; "Cheddars". As you enter you are cordially greeted and taken to your seat. It wasn't too busy on this day, so we were sat down promptly. You notice a good amount of seating as you walk in and the usual large fish tank that always brings a calmness to the restaurant. You're politely asked what you'll have to drink as you choose your meal. And to get the appetite started they bring a buttery croissant that is definitely a good treat. Cheddars has a good amount to choose from, I choose the Fish and Shrimp meal, the dish came with sides, I choose the broccoli casserole and with fries as well, the whole meal was absolutely delicious. So just got to town and was out in Schertz getting my hair done and saw the restaurant on the way so I stoped here afterwards for dinner on my way back to the hotel. I sat at the bar not very busy for a Tuesday night. There's lots of construction in the area which I hear has been bad for businesses in the area and is expected to wrap up later this year. But the restaurant itself is very nice my server/bartender was very courteous got my order everything went well. I ordered the pasta Alfredo with salmon, the fish was cooked perfectly and the pasta with garlic bread was delicious. It was a nicely lit bar and I was in and out within the hour. Idk why this location has awful reviews. I come here way to much and have never had a bad experience. Food is always fast, fresh and hot. Service is speedy and enjoyable. I think in the last year we have never had to ask for drink refill, it just happens. The staff is amazing. Also my autistic son with food sensory issues will clean his plate everytime here. I had always been very curious about Cheddar's. We pass it up every time we go to Lin's International Buffet. I noticed it always has a lot of cars in its parking lot. We were interested in a restaurant with great seafood because it's during the Lenten season. On date night, I suggested to my spouse we go to Cheddar's. I told him, "If you don't like it, we won't ever go there again." The moment we entered the restaurant, he said, "Nice restaurant." I did my research online ahead of time. I knew what I was going to order before I sat down. As anticipated, the food was awesome! The ambiance of the restaurant gives it a romantic feel. I see negative reviews on here and I guess any place can have a bad day or something go wrong. However, I have frequented this Cheddars the last 3 years and never had any crazy issues. Maybe drink flat here or there( carbonation out) ; staff fixed. Maybe they forgot onions a steak; again fixed easily enough. So I would say it doesn't deserve this craziness based on my family and fried experience over this long run. It's clean, staff is friendly and the food is good. It's one of the better cheddars I have been in for a while. Try for yourself. I will continue to be a regular. The spasagna, Alfredo, shrimp appetizer, are some of my favorites. Came here with my family this past Sunday. Our server was so helpful at deciding what to eat (forgot her name) and the manager (I think her name was Rachel) was professional and accommodating. Diane L was my server and made my evening so pleasant and she had such a wonderful sense of humor great conversation and with a smile each time she came over to my table! Impeccable customer service! Ask for her you won't be disappointed. I was initially served a croissant that was beyond dreamy! So light and delicious! My salad of choice was house with ranch very fresh and tasty! My main entrée was the full rack of ribs which did not disappoint. They were fall off the bone delicious sauced up so well so tender each bite was heavenly! I asked who the cook was and they said his name was John. I would hire him for my backyard barbecue actually! lol. I was so pleased with the rack of ribs , I took home a full rack to my son to go! Came in a large group so I acknowledge that it's not easiest of process when trying to accommodate 15 or so people however, if the restaurant cannot provide good service for a part of that size they should specify that when people call in to ask. Server took about 20-30 minutes to drop off our drinks. Waited almost half an hour on water. I can't even blame the server solely because where is the team work occurring if a server is sat with a party and not a single other server or manager is willing to drop off drinks. It was another after receiving our drinks 20-30 minutes before our order was taken. Almost an hour from getting sat to get drinks and place water (I was looking at my clock frequently). Food was delivered, no silverware on table and having to flag down other employees to bring items. Food was average. Nothing life changing. Not worth waiting over an hour to order and receive. The Family Bundle is a really good value. We got the Chicken Tender bundle. You get 16 hand-breaded tenders and a dipping sauce, your choice of two family-sized sides and 6 honey butter croissants. For sides we got fries - bad choice, they were super soggy and nobody liked em. Also the seasoned rice was trash. The tenders were cool. Nothing special. The honey butter croissants were fire. That means good! We ordered it in person because they have this dumb rule that after 9 pm you can only make orders to go physically at the bar. Now when you order online or over the phone, you have to pre-pay. So why does it matter if you're on site or not? Either way the food is paid for. That had me upset. Usually have a good experience here, not so much last night. My wife ordered the pork chop. It came with a pink center. When we were finally able to get the waitress's attention we sent it back. The Service manager came out and apologized, however when it came back it was still raw. We got there at 11:55 and got sat down right away and we didn't get our food till 1:29!!!!!!!! It was ridiculous, I thought the previous reviews were exaggerating but no believe them. I'll never come back to this location. The food wasn't even good. I had the steak 8oz and the carrots were nasty looks like they just got the grocery store bought carrots and just added "seasoning" the broccoli was semi raw. Came here with my husband and parents on a Sunday afternoon. My parents have frequented this place before but it was my first time and it was really enjoyable. It was pretty packed inside but we got seated right away. Service was PHENOMENAL! Our waiter (forgot her name) was very attentive and friendly. Unhappy with the wait. No cars in parking lot. Only about five people at most in bar area. Maybe other in different parts of restaurant but not very many. Management had family in restaurant that were more important than other customers clearly. One said that is my mom so please get her another margarita. Poor sever Diamond was running around trying to help everyone and on her own without any help. Everyone was too busy to give her any help even the management that ask her to give her mother another margarita. Also other management people could have helped. I also told her that from a management standpoint this is not good. We wait for our food along time other people started helping with our table but it was too late the bad impression had already been made. My order was correct but they forgot the fries. Had to ask for those. The other person eating received correct food and had a hair included attached to the chicken on her pasta. They apologize and asked if she wanted a new plate. Yes she did. Diamond you are a great server and I am such you make good drinks as well. They checked on the table a lot after that but sorry to say damage already done. Also the homemade strawberry lemonade had me wanting more -- thank goodness for the unlimited refills! My mom and I shared the creamy garlic tilapia and shrimp as well as the lemon peppered chicken. To be honest, I LOVED the creamy garlic tilapia and shrimp more than the lemon peppered chicken especially if you like seafood. However, don't let the lemon peppered chicken fool you. It looked dry but when we cut into it, it was so moist. The only reason I gave this review a four star is because of the service that I experienced while I was there.
