Between probate, uncooperative siblings, 12 hour days weeding through documents, photographs, bills, 14 hour days as a Private Chef for high profile atheletes & teaching culinary classes at CBG, I was at the end of my rope. Why am I telling you this? Because these days, it REALLY MATTERS. I finally was at the stage to sell & BEGIN moving stuff out. Calling around for storage, over priced, can't talk to a person... its a lot!!! Ended up calling Extra Storage. A man answered, disingenuous, sold me a bill of goods. Square footage I requested but in 3 seperate units with small doors at opposite ends of a HUGE facility, in the WRONG LOCATION (which was crucial)! So here I go, more time I dont have fighting dishonsty with time I dont have & money they dont desrve!! Called back after 5pm. Girl named Kari answered & THANK GOD she was honest & had mercy on A) my situation B) the way I was treated and C) demanded I let her make it right!!! Everything became perfect! Contract in my inbox, amount promised, warp speed execution, map to the unit, door open waiting for movers, lock/keys/codes right there where she said they'd be!!! And TODAY, I called requiring a second unit (my miscalculation). It is truly delightful & a privilege dealing with Kari!!! We went through sizes, what still needed to come out of this house with movers tomorrow on short notice, closing Friday!!! Here's all I can say: 1) Don't deal with people who feel dishonest. 2) Be grateful when you give your hard earned money to someone you can trust & goes the EXTRA MILE! 3) Take time to read/write a review about a GREAT PERSON! 4) Show INCREDIBLE EMPLOYEES you value them with promotions & monetary compensation (and deep 6 the bad ones. Makes YOUR entire company smell bad). AND... 5) I feed alot of Chicago's professional athlete's who value their privacy & folks they can trust. But its a TOUGH business & half of them get traded, STORE THEIR STUFF until they sign, buy a house & settle in. And, I have their ear. I've been a customer for about 8 years and have always found the personnel to be accommodating to my changing needs. I've had the pleasure of working with current manager Kathleen Grant for a while and she goes above and beyond to ensure I get the right space I need. She even informed me that I qualified for a senior discount, which I appreciated. I'll say one more thing. I use another local storage facility for vehicle storage. The facility itself and the staff is not up the same standard as Extra Space.

And my unit was on the second floor, so you know they are all over. This place is infested and when I moved out and found the infestation, I called the office and spoke to two people (one was a manager) who were both completely unapologetic and indifferent. Moral of the story is that they know there are rodents and don't care. It is clear they have done nothing to control the problem as no evidence of rodent exclusion and reduction was seen on the grounds. They also closed the one large loading dock to get more storage units in and now a moving truck can't even pull in to unload. This took way longer to move, plus the time it took to clean and disinfect my belongings and had to pitch some stuff as well. I guess they don't care if they inconvenience their customers as long as they can get the maximum rent - which by the way increases almost every month. Plenty of other newer and less gross storage places around. See pics. Edit: "Emily" the Business Manager posted a number to call to get help with this matter. The number so to the front office, where they never pick up the phone and a manager is not present. I called this morning and spoke to two separate people. Because of how I was treated, I ended up returning some of the items I had just purchased. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I no longer felt comfortable giving them my business. I came in hoping to support a local, brick-and-mortar shop instead of just running to Amazon like we all so often do, but experiences like this make it hard to justify the effort. If stores want customers to care about shopping local, they need to care enough to hire people who actually want to be there and treat customers with basic respect.
