Came here as I needed some alterations done and was told that the tailor here was the best. After having a pair of pants shortened and two others fixed properly, I'm convinced that this is the place to get clothing altered. I will be going back soon as I need other clothing altered. Also, though the circular stairwell looks scary, its very stable. If for some reason you cannot walk up there, the desk person can have the tailor come down to see you. Highly recommend!! read more

HORRIBLE! Dropped off my dress a few months ago and they lost it.. they were able to find it and covered the cleaning cost so thought I'd give them another shot. Dropped off EXPENSIVE silk pants for hemming, came back and they were permanently stained from the press... and had an additional stain on them. The hemming isn't even. Didn't even say anything to them not worth it it's so bad.. simply NEVER EVER RETURNING!!!! HORRIBLE!!! read more

I brought several shirts and blouses to Polivoy on Sudbrook Road on Monday 11/6/23. I arrived at 5:54 PM. The doors were being locked by a male employee. The lady at the front desk waved me off. The sign in the front window showed the closing time as 6 PM. I am a former customer but it has been a few years since I have been there. I have been using Polovoy cleaners for a couple years and it is the only place around I take my clothes. They've been able to clean every stain I've ever brought them. They have a tailor on premises too and they do a good job. I had a couple of pants altered there and I'm satisfied with the results. Their prices are about average for dry cleaning. They charged me about $5-6 per pants and more for jackets. The pant alterations cost about $20 and they fixed the hem in my fiancees pants for about $15. When it comes to customer service they are simply the best. I once arived in the evening as they were locking up for the night. They opened back up, let me pick up my clothes. I know I don't bring them a lot of expensive pieces to clean but its good to know they appreciate their customers and go out of the way to keep us happy. read more

Polovoy was recommended to us by The QG (*). This review is for their dry cleaning services, not tailoring. Admittedly, we don't do much dry cleaning, but prices do seem a bit expensive (-1 star). In fact, The QG suggested that we bring in the important items (i.e., my husband's suit), but take other things (e.g., his shirt) to a random dry cleaner. With that said, the woman working here was friendly enough, and I appreciate her attitude and service. When I came to pick up my husband's items, I noticed that there were still stains on his suit. It seemed like an issue of not having covered the entire area, rather than their cleaning products not working, because the center was completely clean, but the stain was visible on the sides. The woman apologized for the inconvenience, asked if my husband needed his suit right away, and then asked to keep it so they could re-clean it. She said I could pick it up the next day. If we were in a time crunch (or if my husband were the one picking it up...), this might have gone the other way, but I get that things happen. A vendor who acknowledges a mistake, apologizes, and then makes it right goes a long way in my book. I am much more likely to trust them and to come back. They did a great job on my husband's tie. You can't tell that he dropped chocolate ice cream on it, and knowing my husband, he probably let that stain sit for a couple weeks or even a couple months. In case anybody cares, my husband did notice a line down the front of his tie, as if it had been pressed really hard or something. We haven't tried to get rid of the line, so we can't comment on that. Should we need expensive items cleaned, I will certainly come back. I will, however, go with The QG's suggestion to find a less pricy cleaner for everyday items simply because my husband and I are poor (I just moved to the area and don't have a job / income), and it is a 30 minute drive in the "wrong" direction of everything else we frequent. If finances and distance weren't a problem, I'd probably drop more things off here. (*) In case you're not familiar with it, The QG bills itself as a "barbershop, spa, and tailor for men," and seems to be a bit on the fussy side, haha. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. Rather, the tailor makes custom clothing, seems pretty opinionated about whether this or that goes together, and dresses like he really cares about how he presents himself. Basically, he seems like he might be fastidious about his own dry cleaning, so we give more weight to his recommendations than Joe Schmoe's. read more

They did not read the instructions I left for shortening the pants, and so did it wrong. They're expensive and take a long time.

If you have very nice, delicate, and/or expensive items to be cleaned, Polovoy is the place to take them. I just got back from my first visit and was totally impressed. Talk about personalize service!!! I worked with Barbara regarding the dry cleaning of my mother-of-the-bride dress (delicate, lace, expensive) and she was knowledgeable, polite, and thorough . She took the dress into the back to test cleaning solutions on the stained area. She was honest about their ability to clean the dress to my satisfaction. She told us how much it would cost to get it cleaned. She obviously has had years of experience and knows what she's talking about. Other people we talked to there had also been at Polovoy's for a long time. There were a large # of other wedding / wedding party dresses that all looked beautifully dry cleaned.
