We hired Ramirez Brick Repair for two masonry projects, and the quality of the work was outstanding both times. The first project involved repointing our heavily deteriorated front porch brick steps. I am leaving a follow-up review (with video) regarding Mr. Ramirez's poor work quality (I left a previous review last November 2025). As the Fall set in last year, my bricks started to turn white. I called Mr. Ramirez about this issue repeatedly and he stated that it was the mortar used and that he needed to replace the mortar. PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO. Mr. Ramirez cannot be trusted. I paid him $6K and this is what my stairs look like! Not only are the bricks scratched, he used inferior materials. Given the fact that Mr. Ramirez lacks integrity, I requested a full refund. Mr. Ramirez has refused to respond to my calls and texts. Now, I will have to take him to DC Small Claims Court to get my money back. Honestly, I don't think Mr. Ramirez respects Black women. While he was working on my stairs, I brought him, his colleague, and his mother AND father hearty lunches--for several days. And this is how I am treated. I will receive JUSTICE in Court. Our front steps consist of about 240 visible bricks with ~10 of them falling out of place and much of the grout pitted or missing! Ramirez Brick did a 100% grout replacement and reseated/replaced all failing bricks. For a great price, and 3-4 people to complete the job in less than one day! Javier is an amazing mason - he also has a team of talented people who love and know this craft. Masonry is not an easy thing is learn but it is even harder thing to do right. I live in a historic neighborhood in DC and the city has very strict standards on how brick pointing is done on the front of the house. Javier knew what the steps were that needed to be taken and he did it very well. He also helped me with a retaining wall on one of my properties that was leaning over. Every project that he has done for me has been the highest standard of care and precision. I would caution though that Javier is a very busy guy - and as his business continues to take off he may not have as much time to take on a project. He cares a lot and will speak to you on the phone to give you the best and most precise information possible. I would not hesitate to hire Javier again in the future. On a side note he also has skills doing waterproofing - when there was constant leaks on the front of my house he knew what to do and did it right. He dug into the footer put in the perforated pipes, gravel, and a barrier between my wall and our retaining wall. I have had no problems since he did the waterproofing. Javier and his crew did an excellent job on our large brick chimney that had not been repaired since the 50s. It had a subtle leak that was causing unsightly mold to grow on the inside. They did the top part in 2019 (as the lowest bidders), and it didn't fully resolve the problem. He suggested then that we call him back to do the rest. We got the bottom part repointed-repaired in early 2024, and he gave us a returning customer discount. His crew was here for 3 full days of work, replaced 12 bricks, and it looks excellent now. His crew does high-quality work for a very reasonable price (they again came under the lowest bid we received from other companies). I requested a quote from Javier after the accident. He came by my house and provided a very reasonable, written quote in two days. I am thoroughly happy with the services from Ramirez Brick Repair. Javier was timely and courteous about contacting me and scheduling. He was easy to work with and accommodated my busy schedule and the weather. He was prompt and reliable, always calling back when he said he would, showed up on time, and the job took exactly as long as he said it would. He quoted me a firm fixed price and the job was accomplished at that price. He acquired matching bricks, and it took only a week. At the end of the job, he took away all the debris and thoroughly cleaned the job site. Our job was a small but important one. We had brick planters on a concrete patio. We had been removing the planters with a sledgehammer and unexpectedly discovered that the planters had been integrated with the house brick. Our house's brick had the additional problem that the brick tended to chip off and fall apart due to poor quality bricks at construction 60 years ago. The chipping brick problem was especially bad, it turned out, behind the planters. As part of removing the brick planters, we had created a crevasse in the exterior of the house. I hired Javier to come in and remove the last bits of the brick planter and repair the brick. He replaced the chipped brick. In the attached "after" picture, there is an illusion that the house is now bowed out to the left, but that is only because Javier placed concrete between the house and the soil, to prevent water intrusion on the below-grade brick. WOW! Javier and his team did a MIRACULOUS job on repairing the column of my brick fence in which was knocked down by a vehicle. Javier came out and gave me a VERY reasonable estimate to replace the column. Which was the best estimate that I had received. They repaired some concrete steps at my house for $400. Very unresponsive when I tried to schedule the work and did a no show when they were scheduled to do the job. Not sure why I agreed to let them do the repair after all that but I did (I didn't feel like getting another estimate I guess for a smaller job). I had Ramirez Brick Repair Services repoint our brick front walkway, fix some brick columns, and straighten out some brick pavers in our side yard. They did a terrific job. They took out all the bricks in the front walkway and put a sturdy foundation underneath so the bricks on the side wouldn't sink again and they put new mortar in between the bricks. My front walkway looks brand new. They also did a great job fixing some brick columns in our side yard that had some difficult to remove grey material (from when my husband tried to fix the columns himself) on it. They removed the gray material and fixed the columns the right way. They also straightened some brick pavers for me all in one day. Everything looks so much better.
