I have had my clothes ruined on several occasions at this cleaners. I decided to give them another chance. They asked me to go to another business due to "the stress" of the previous situations. I should have known better after my clothes were returned beyond repair and I had to push for some (very small) reimbursement that did not come anywhere near the value of the dress clothes. Sadly, I would avoid at all costs. I try to help local businesses and give them the benefit of the doubt, but this was a clear sign to find another small, local business who cares about the customer and owns mistakes when made. read more

The WORST costumer service EVER! I wouldn't get my dogs shirt cleaned there. I had a beautiful black shirt that I only wore twice. Took it to have it cleaned because I had a spill. I instantly notice it was faded because I could see it through the cleaners bag. Attempted to address it with the Asian gentleman with the bad acne...and with a nasty attitude he said, "so what you want me to do about it". I LOST IT!!! My family had told me not to go there because your items will not look the same when you pick it up. Well let's just say I found out the hard way. The old Asian woman who so-called "manages" this dry cleaners understands NOTHING about good customer service. I cannot count the times I've witnessed her arguing with other customers over petty issues. Never did I dream I would one day endure one of her rants as well. We've had minor problems with their service before. But this time, Poly Cleaners RUINED two of my husband's dress shirts. And it was so obvious that one of their machines had done it b/c there were all these perfect little circles (dots) all over these shirts. It looked mechanical. No other explanation. But not only did this woman not want to admit that one of their machines had done it, she made no attempt to try to remedy the problem. Lose customers over two shirts? Really? Why not try to fix the problem that you know your machines caused? I will NEVER GO BACK TO POLY. Ever! Terrible place. They are 0-3 on removing fresh food stains from clothing. Subsequently I am 2-1 on removing these same stains myself that they "tried" to remove. I personally think they don't even try at all to get stains out at all .. just press the garment and if you say anything about the ever present stain they just say, "uh we tried". I had a dress shirt with a small grease stain in a noticeable spot. They didn't even budge it. Did my own treatment with a little dish soap and a toothbrush, and voila - it looks perfect. It's not that hard guys -- just requires a little effort .. and wait -aren't you a cleaners? Anyways, if you just need something pressed with absolutely no trouble-shooting at all then you'll probably be ok here. But if you actually need the service of a professional cleaner, look elsewhere .. because Poly Cleaners is not one. read more

After forgetting my wedding dress in the back of my closet for two years I pulled it out to find yellow stains on it. I brought it to Poly Cleaners. They were very nice and warned me that the stains might not come out. I just picked it up and it's as good as new! I have no idea how they were able to get all the stains out, but I will be going back. read more

Don't use this cleaners unless you want your clothes ruined and them not to take responsibility. My shirts had some perfectly round grey circles on the cuffs, clearly made by some type of press machine. When they were taken back, the owner was rude and would not even entertain the fact that they did this. She has also been seen being rude to other customers and will argue with you instead of providing good customer service. Not even an attempt to make it right. Now shirts are ruined. I had been a satisfied customer of this cleaner until my latest incident and the response received from who I understand to be the owner. I took in a brand new, unworn $60 button down shirt to be pressed. I picked it up the the next day as usual and headed home. Upon arriving home and removing the shirt from the plastic wrap I noticed what looked like a purple splash stain on the collar and down the front of the shirt. The next morning I returned to voice my concern and they same woman told me she didn't know what it was and that they would clean it again. I stopped in today to pick up the shirt and the stain, while lessened, was still clearly on my garment. I don't think they expected me to check the shirt right then and there but I did. The same women was working and had no idea where the stain came from and tried to blame me stating that customers forget how dirty there clothes are. I again told her that it had NEVER been worn. She continued to disagree and offered $15 compensation as that is their policy. After more back-and-forth she gave me $20 but held strong that it wasn't their fault. Needless to say in the 2 years I have been going there I have spent far over $60 and would have continued to if they would have compensated me for the full value of my shirt and owned up to their mistake. I've tried a few cleaners in Oak Park. One would randomly 'forget' to give back items (which then turned up lost), one left white residue all over my black pants, and one never had orders ready at the promised time. Poly Cleaners is efficient, has reasonable prices, and never leaves white dust on my pants. The only downfall... I wish they would take hangers back. I am tired of having closets and trash bags full of wire hangers that I have to lug to my dumpster. And... it would be eco friendly! Think about it Poly... (The heavy starch comment from other reviewers is true. Ask for no starch if you don't like your clothing waffle crisp.) read more

Efficient - yes. Same day service - yes. Inexpensive - maybe. Crappy job - YES! Any time I take an article of clothing into this cleaners (laundered dress shirt, or dry cleaned slacks) that needs some additional attention (coffee, soy sauce, unknown spot), the proprietors answer is always the same. "uh - we'll try". They don't mark the spot, they don't treat it in front of you, they just throw it in the hamper then, surprise, 24 hours later when I come to pick up the article, the spot is still there, only now - it's firmly set into the pants/shirt because the pressed the darn thing. This has been happening for several years, and I'm finally ready to walk away. When I do complain, they say, we'll try to get it out but alas, it's too late. A couple of times Ms. Lee has even argued with me saying that the spot was an old spot - not a new spot. Are you kidding me? Any good cleaners I've every worked with, in Chicago or elsewhere, marks the spot so they don't forget about it. Poly is good for articles that don't need attention. Anything else, go ahead and wash it yourself or throw it away because they will do their best to permanently set the stain and then that shirt or pants is a goner. read more

Plant-on-Premises dry cleaner. I basically just take my shirts here. Unless you love starch and an extra stiff shirt, get no starch; they go heavy on the starch, and the only options are starch or no-starch. I try not to take my best clothes here, as this place is more like a factory rather than your smaller more personable dry cleaner. read more

I have never had any major problems here. Only one time where my sweater shrunk just a bit but that was it. Ms.Lee always takes good care of my clothes and has moved cuff buttons on my dress shirts with no problems. The prices are very reasonable and the next day service is great! If you don't want stiff clothes simply ask for less or no starch. read more

Friendly, pleasant counter staff, and when you drop off in the AM your stuff is done by 2 pm. The light starch option has seemed to work for me. Take mainly men's dress laundered shirts, have not tried to dry clean anything fancy but I would try them for that if I had a need. read more

Zero stars! They destroy your clothes with any recourse! I dropped my sons' shirts off to be cleaned on 9/3/15. The shirt in question, my son wore 1 time! This is a brand new shirt! I pick up the shirts the very next day and there's a small very precise hole in his shirt. I go to address the issue on 9/8/15. The manager doesn't even address the issue. She keeps uttering "all we do is wash & press"! She didn't bother to look at or inspect the shirt! I already see on Yelp that this location is substandard. You definitely get what you pay for at this location! Absolutely NOTHING!! I will NEVER use Poly Cleaners again. I will stick O'Connor Cleaners. They may be more expensive but at least they don't destroy your clothing and then not acknowledge wrongdoing! Shameful business practice. I'm new to Oak Park and this was my first trip to Poly's. My wife dropped my clothes off this morning and by the time I was off in the evening they were done. I went to pick them up and I was pleasantly surprised. The ladies there were very nice and my clothes looked great. I haven't opened them up yet, but from the exterior the all looked good. Best thing; The didn't over charge Very reasonable prices. I'll be going back next time! read more

This place is great for tailoring, I have had a bunch of pants hemmed and the tailor there always does a precise job. Had a couple of things dry cleaned without a problem too. Very convenient. read more

Always on time with the delivery. I am one that is always late for the pickup. I use them for shirts as well as formal pants. The pants do get a bit expensive at nearly $3.50/pant, but shirts are around a $1.00 which seems reasonable. Plus they give immediate credit for credit/debit pre-payment which works well for me. They once sewed a button free of cost!! BTW, they do take your wire hangers back these days. I returned a bunch back last month. Although I didn't know about the starch thing. They're dry cleaners. They do what dry cleaners do. And they do it well. I've taken men's suits, woolen winter coats, pea coats and such-like to Poly Cleaners in the past. I really appreciate how fast their service is. They're reasonably priced too considering how efficient, and good their services are. I agree with one of the other reviewers' that this place is a little factory-like, something I am not used to - I've mostly used small personal dry cleaning places, but as long as they don't lose my clothes and they haven't up until now... Easily the worst cleaner in Oak Park. Has "lost" clothes twice, only to find them later. Staff is surly and usually too busy listening to music or talking to each other to pay much attention. Be careful to keep all paperwork. Their attitude is that the burden is on the customer to prove that the clothes were dropped off. Not recommended. read more

BEWARE! DO NOT trust your garments with this cleaners. Wish I read reviews before bringing my favorite silk dress here. I pointed out a spot from hairspray -- about 1/2 inch in diameter before dropping off. I was told that the fabric for my garment was delicate and not sure it will come out. Not only did the spot not come out, but there were 5 more marks/spots from the cleaners. When I pointed this out they denied and said my dress was very dirty! A lie! No apologies. No sensitivity to the situation. They made me feel like it was my fault. I told them I was not going to pay the cleaning fee and did not. Horrible horrible place. Terrible cleaning service and terrible treatment of customers. I wish I could give no stars, but I had to give 1 in order to post this review. read more

Regularly bring my clothes here to get cleaned and tailored. It's super fast - can get your stuff back the same day if you drop off before 10am- and really cheap. They've done a great job with all of my things so far. Nice counter staff, but that's not what I look for in a cleaners. read more

The bottom line is that this place is a cheap, efficient, and basic dry cleaners. I take my husband's work clothes here and they have always been returned in good shape at the time promised. The counter staff is incredibly nice and you can't beat the prices. If I had a ball gown or something I'd probably take it elsewhere...but for the day to day stuff this is my spot. read more
