Chicken kabob with no salad extra rice entree

Cute little restaurant! The service was great! We got one chicken kebab entree and one filet mignon entree. The meat was tender but the seasoning wasn't very strong. Still very good though and the price was amazing! If you're looking for affordable, good food this is definitely a place you should try!

Found this little place on Yelp and it was delicious! The pita and hummus was great, I was recommended to try the spicy and was not let down. Very fresh and flavourful tasting hummus. My plate was $13 which felt very reasonable for the amount of food I was given. Everything was fresh without being oily or greasy. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Newport area or walking across the street from Hoag. The outside patio was nice and shaded. Definitely will be back again!

Okay, as a restaurant owner (5 locations in D.C. on Military bases) and a chef I take many things into account before making any kind of decision. Let's start first with the visualization. Pom Olive is in a nice neighborhood with parking. Before walking up to the restaurant you can tell this isn't a place to take someone you're trying to "impress"! The restaurant could use a little art mural on the walls...a little of touch and woom! Now let's get to the service. The service was friendly and not pushy which made me feel very relaxed. Food options ---- plenty! Pricing ---- very reasonable! Taste was very tasty. If you're with a friend or a small family it's a great spot. This wasn't a big restaurant so if you're a bigger party it makes a great take-out! Enjoy!

We ordered Pom and Olive for the first time in February on DoorDash and have ordered it about 6 times since, that's how good it is. We haven't strayed much from our initial order, but I will say the Koobideh combo with mixed rice and side of garlic sauce is one of the best things I've ever had. I could honestly eat this meal every day and not be sick of it. The 2 different meats pair so nicely with the garlic sauce and the lentils + raisins in the rice add a welcomed texture and sweetness to the dish. And then you add the grilled onions and side salad?! This dish is pure heaven. At $16 + .50c for sauce, it really can't be beat in terms of taste, value, and portion. We've also been ordering the falafel platter which comes with basmati rice, side salad, hummus and a little bit of cabbage. The falafel is delicious, sometimes on the dry side, but nothing a little garlic sauce can't help. I really like the cabbage side that comes with it, wish there were more (not even sure you can see it in the pic). Overall, I love Pom and Olive and can't believe I didn't find them sooner but am definitely making the most of it now. Shout out to Shiva and her brother for the best koobideh and garlic sauce!

Pom & Olive has some of the best Mediterranean food in the area! The dolmades were truly unlike any I've had before, in the best way. Chicken shish kabob was so flavorful- seasoned perfectly and had a really nice charred taste. The staff were super friendly and attentive and gave great service. The restaurant has an overall really peaceful energy and great ambiance. 10/10 recommend

More people need to come to Pom & Olive!!! Such affordable and delicious, healthy food. I always get the koobideh combo, both chicken and beef is delicious. I crave it. The portions are also really big especially for what you get. The staff is all really kind and the service is quick. The vibe in there is really cute, they even have patio seating. I was looking for a nearby Mediterranean place and saw Pom & Olive. Their other location has a lot of great reviews and this is their newer location. I was going to get the combination platter, but after looking at the pictures in the menu, I was intrigued by one of the dishes. I asked the owner/ hostess/ waitress what it was, beyti kabab, and decided to go for it. It's beef skewers wrapped in tortillas topped with tomato sauce and served with basmati rice and yogurt. I enjoyed the beef and rice. There was a little too much tomato sauce for me, but I liked the green cilantro sauce on top though. It was a filling dish. Service was a bit slow as I think there were only a few people working. It was friendly though. We were given complimentary pita fries. When we took baklava to go, she looked for the biggest piece to box. FYI- They don't have a liquor license (yet?).

Unfortunately, nothing really special. Food was simply ok. The pita bread was the store bought, thin, flavorless type. Stick to the veggies with your hummus trio. The lady who served us, maybe the owner, was very shy? and definitely moved at her own pace. Polite but very short answered. The restaurant was empty on a Wednesday. One other table showed up while we were eating. The inside is clean and looks brand new, the decor although, a little mismatched and tacky. I'm not always in Newport, and won't drive that way again for Pom & Olive. read more

Great place! We were surprised it was not more full on a Saturday night. The food was really good and this place is SEED OIL FREE!!! which omg this is amazing that more and more places are switching. The service was great, the lady at the front even turned the tv on for us which entertained our toddler while we ate. Even though the place is small and easy to miss, it was really clean and nice inside. Also I forgot to mention, the prices were super reasonable for what they offer!! Next time we are in the area we are coming back. read more

Hah went again for donnas birthday, she didnt want anything flashy so she didnt mention. Btw look at the bathroom! Its beautiful! Like a spacious warm home bathroom. The coloring scheme is very beautiful and the way it is arranged. I ordered the lamb chops, i love the tenderness of how it was. Be careful driving on this rainy night with very slippery roads. I say this because I must have crashed my car and woke up in heaven. I didn't realize heaven was a Mediterranean restaurant located at 325 Old Newport Blvd. Beautiful lighting, wonderful staff, and a chicken shawarma plate that will knock your socks off. Seriously, I think I left a sock there. That's a story for a different time... in all seriousness love this place, one billion stars!! read more

Wanted to try the new location because we'd always had good meals at the Bristol restaurant. Very nice decor and vibe. Tried the falafel, lamb wrap and Shawarma trio. Nice flavors in the falafel. Beautiful lamb! The beef and chicken were very dry. Service was a little dicey because the one fellow didn't understand our questions/requests. He would just smile and walk away without helping us out. Also, though the website shows cocktails, they are not available at this location. Stick with their lamb dishes and you'll be happy! Wow! This place was so good! This is such an under appreciated gem! I'm vegan and I got the cauliflower shawarma without feta (tip: I think I should have asked for no sauces because I think one had dairy in it, d'oh!). It was both beautiful and delicious. We were greeted so kindly and they got my friend a high chair for her son. Oh, and did I mention we got two entrees an appetizer and a drink for just over $40? I wish I lived closer! read more

Same great food, even better location! P&O Costa Mesa is my go-to whenever I'm getting my car serviced at Fletcher Jones across the street but I had no idea they even had a new location. The decor is clean and welcoming and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The service was amazing, as usual and the food was even better! Everything was fresh and delicious and super reasonably priced. The cucumber limeade and pomegranate drinks were only four dollars each, which I very much appreciate. Even though this place is pricey I happily supported it because it stood for something. Now that it's no longer vegan, it feels like a completely different place. Seeing venison, eggs, and raw dairy on the menu was honestly jarring. That shift isn't small, it changes the entire atmosphere and comfort level for me. Cross-contact becomes a concern, and I no longer feel at ease dining here. The branding around these new additions being described as "ethical" is the most frustrating part. They try to explain how their meet and eggs can be "ethical" but they don't even bother to try to explain how their raw dairy is "ethical." Probably because is no logical argument. Their pride and excitement about these "ethical" addictions feels entirely disconnected from the community that originally supported this space. I'm genuinely disappointed.

My wife ordered the wedge salad, my daughter chose the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor, and I had the 8 oz Picanha special. Every dish was exceptional. The octopus was a creative and flavorful take on al pastor, and the Picanha special was perfectly cooked, tender and was an absolute standout. The rice pilaf was a delicious accompaniment, and the Greek salad was fresh and crisp with a light, tangy dressing. My dining companion had the falafel plate, and she raved about it. The falafel were crispy on the outside and wonderfully moist and flavorful on the inside, clearly made from scratch. We go to the Bristol location often, but this new one is closer to home for us. This location did not disappoint. The people were very friendly and welcoming. We were offered hot tea and really enjoyed the flavor. We started with the cheese borek - it was fresh and crispy with fluffy, delicious cheese on the inside. We also tried the samosa- fantastic!
