Drunken Black Mussels with or without Cream

Pomme Frite is a charming, intimate café. Great for couples or small parties. Service was attentive and super friendly. I was intrigued by the menu because I remembered how good the food was in Belgium and France when I visited last. I ordered the tenderloin medallions and my husband ordered the mussels. Both entrées were generously portioned, perfectly prepared, and deliciously seasoned. As expected, the pommes frite were double fried and served with mayo. My only critique is that both cocktails tasted a little watered down.

Amazing experience! Everything was incredible and out of this world- escargot, steak frites, bone marrow, bread/butter, crème brûlée! Unfortunately had a split plate when not requested, a group of 3 trying some items. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!

Ask for Chris. What great service and really nice person. The food is amazing. Don't forget the escargot but my favorite is the bone marrow!!! Yum. The servers and the curbside bistro dinning experience makes you feel like you are in Paris. Enjoy

The food and service are just great The front area is pretty small and cramped, but doable if not busy. We had the beef stroganoff and pork chop dinner where I substituted roasted potatoes for their mashed potatoes

We had intended to come here several times, but for one reason or another (one day it was closed, another day there were no tables, etc.) we have not been able. We finally got lucky today. It was a weekday at lunch, and although there were several people, there was plenty of room for us. The decor is just what you would expect - casual with a European twist. This place serves french and Belgian food, and there are several Belgian decor touches, including a couple of references to the Mannequin Pis, which I remember from a trip to Brussels. Hubby was on medication which kept him from drinking alcohol, so in support, I did not order glass of wine. :-( Started with an order of six escargot, had lots of delicious garlic butter, just the way I like it. We ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. It was cuz you would expect, and delicious. We also ordered the special of the day which was couscous with lamb sausage, chicken leg, and roasted vegetables. It was absolutely fantastic. There are many awards hanging in this restaurant, and I could see why. There were several things on the menu that I would like to come back and try. Can't wait to do it!

Made a reservation and got seated right away when we arrived at the restaurant. The food was delicious and service was great. Loved the escargot, French onion soup, mussels, steak tartare and lamb shank. Overall a great Belgian / French meal experience in downtown Palm Springs! We explored the Thursday night market and then enjoyed a delicious French dinner. Had a nice seat in their patio area so we could see all the people walk by during the night market.

Pomme Frite brought us right back to drinking wine from a carafe and eating mussels and a baguette in France. From the " madame et monsieur " greeting to our server from France, we loved the authenticity of Pomme Frite. We loved the beet and goat cheese salad, as well as the drunken Mediterranean mussels. We ordered an extra baguette to soak up all of the delicious sauce. We got to practice our terrible French with our gracious waitress. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful night in Palm Springs.

save your money & run run away terrible staff ( willy ) & owner cj is worst with how he writes back to complaints regarding his restaurant. he fights back instead of being understanding & sympathies. food was below average server willy cannot even explain the menu in english to americans so you end up not knowing what your eating ‍ they rush you to leave because they say restaurant closes at 9pm & kitchen as they say closes at 9:20pm . what a joke & liars. zero ambiance . just a show off old man waiter speaking broken french when he is from belgium & holland. absolutely disgusting everything & everyone. they are rude to the busser who's carrying thier restaurant on his shoulders and rude to customers who keep them open!!!!! save your money, time, pride & dignity and dont give them a nickle or a penny

The best French food we've had in a long time. Great service and the food came out pretty fast. It's casual...kind of like a family-owned restaurant you'd find in France. I really wish they have one in LA but kinda glad because I'd be broke

Oh my gosh! Traveling around the world, I look for the best French Onion Soup! I found an excellent version here! Sooo deliciously authentic! My sister had the Beet Salad w/ Goat Cheese and loved that too! And at a neighboring table, a young Belgian woman thoroughly enjoyed the Mussels!!

We arrived 15 minutes early and decided to have a cocktail in bar while waiting for table. We were told they were running 5-10 minutes behind but the Maitre D came to seat us before our cocktails were even ordered. lol We were sat on the fabulous patio with a gorgeous view of the scene. Good people watching if that's your thing. The first white jacketed back waiter took our water order and brought warm baguette with butter. For cocktails we had absolutely perfect gimlets on the rocks. Not too sweet or tart. Just right. Then another brought us an appetizer as a mea culpa for running late! ( They never were!) It was a wonderful cauliflower soup. Our main waiter came by to introduce himself, Jonathon( excellent, request him!) and explain the menu which was handwritten on white board. Love that! We ordered filet tartare, lobster ravioli and sea bass. They were all perfectly prepared and delicious. For dessert we devoured the chocolate soufflé. Don't skip on a chocolate soufflé! They are a rare commodity in dining these days. Other reviews noted high prices. I live in a big city where the prices are comparable if not higher. So we found them commensurate with the quality of food and level of service. I would dine here weekly if I were local, or at least cocktails at the bar. Kate, the manager I believe, stopped by to make sure all well too. You won't find better service in Palm Springs let alone other major cities!

Since hubby and I no longer drink alcohol, we ordered the berry spritz which was lightly sweet, tart and bubbly. The menu has many options for first course, main and dessert and all of it was fabulous. The menu is thoughtfully curated, showcasing French cuisine with creative and modern twists that make each dish feel distinctive. The beef tartare is a must-order for anyone who enjoys raw beef. Its flavor and texture are unlike any tartare I've had before. The beef is incredibly silky and smooth--almost pâté-like in consistency--while still retaining its freshness. Paired with their baguette, it creates a well-balanced and memorable bite. The elk was an ambitious choice, but it was executed exceptionally well. In fact, the chef mentioned that it is one of the dishes he is most proud of, and it is easy to see why. The dish paired elk cooked to a perfect level with a reduction sauce that didn't mask the taste of the meat. While the main courses were excellent, the desserts and side dishes did not quite reach the same standard. If those elements were elevated to match the quality and creativity of the restaurant's standout dishes, I could easily see this restaurant being worthy of a Michelin star.

At the Cole Hotel, with a nice view of people speeding into town on 111, but what will surprise you is the sophistication of the cooking and the friendliness of the waiter and the chef. We've had: - Perfect bread, crusty, crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. - Fabulous cocktails in heavy-bottomed glasses that let you know that you're royalty. - Cod that tastes like something you would get from Nobu. - French onion soup that might not be the cheesiest in the world, but the depth of flavor is amazing. - Rigatoni with a delicious sauce. - Desserts that have us melting. And more... It's truly a special place. I wish we could go every week, but it's not so impossibly priced that you can't go at least once a month. Freddie is always there with warmth and humor, and both gentlemen we've had as servers have been well informed and service-oriented. We never drive down this section of 111 when coming from Mission Lakes. We usually take Indian Canyon and then we turn on Vista Chino. For years, we have actually missed seeing this wonderful restaurant, but one day we just decided to explore and go a different way, and there it was. You can't miss that sign. We were in a mood for something good, and boy, did we find it. Freddie and his kitchen have our hearts.
