While staying at the Holiday House for lodging, I managed to grab a late bite to eat for dinner up upon my arrival. I took a seat at the bar inside, but they also have covered patio seating. The staff were extremely friendly and engaging. I decided to have "girl dinner". This consisted of an order of their guacamole and chips. and the heirloom beet salad. The guacamole was so fresh and flavorful with the perfect level of salt and spice. The chips were thick and crunchy, just the way I like them when I'm eating a dip. As for the heirloom salad, it had the most delicious beets and a goat cheese purée. The fresh fruit was a nice balance to the savory and salty from the beets and the cheese. To wrap up my tasty meal I decided to try the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. They come three to an order and are made fresh to order. The chocolate chip cookies were thick and gooey, and probably some of the best I have ever had. So do yourself a favor, even if you are not staying at the Holiday House for lodging, make sure you come check out their on site restaurant. (I've heard amazing things about their weekend brunch, but did not have the chance to try it this time around.) read more

A truly charming little restaurant in one of those charming iconic Palm Springs hotels. This was our second time eating here and I'm sure it won't be our last. We went for brunch this time, and the menu is pretty extensive with some unusual signature dishes. We went because I said I was craving a waffle, my husband found 'chicken and waffles" on their menu and said, "why not, we will get some protein with our waffle." So we started with a Bloody Mary, which they graciously split between the two of us. The garnish was unusual, including a delicious pickled okra (I don't know what a single okra pod is called), which I found really delicious. Enough so that when my husband proclaimed 'weird," I ate his too. I have a weakness for okra. As promised, we ordered the chicken and waffles and their chia pudding, which we ask them to serve first. Not only was it visually attractive, it was fresh, refreshing and delicious! So, the chicken was excellent and a generous portion, the waffle was light and also delicious. BUT, it comes with a special syrup infused with gochujang, and likely to be quite spicy. We asked them to please leave it off and serve maple syrup on the side. When it arrived the waffle was kind of drowned in the special syrup, which was, indeed, pretty spicy. It's unusual, and actually delicious, but my hubby can't tolerate hot spicy food, so it was unacceptable. We told our server who promised a replacement waffle. It proved delicious, but when we got our check, they added $7.00 for the extra waffle! We had to complain to get them to remove the charge. So, that was an inconvenience; would we come back? It's a small intimate restaurant with excellent salads and sandwiches for lunch (the chicken sandwich is crazy good). And their special event family style fried chicken dinners are really amazing. Super cute atmosphere. It was 100 degrees and a bit hot, but they do have a super strong fan blowing. Would be GREAT if a bit cooler. Lunch Club sandwich $22. The turkey is real shaved turkey breast, not deli meat. Comes with a nice side salad if you don't pay extra for fries. It is a hearty sandwich, I could only finish half. Cobb salad with chicken $24. Very fresh and tasty. My husband was annoyed that he had to cut up the lettuce on the tiny plate, though... a mess. We will be back for sure...when it is cooler out. read more

Not a great experience overall. It was an hour after my reservation started that I got my entree, and it was at about the exact same time as my salad! Lots and lots of waiting around. It was Christmas evening so perhaps they were short staffed, though it did seem that the people on staff were not well experienced. There were only about 3 tables dining apart from mine. They ran out of the prix fixe short rib by 7:30pm. However, I will say that the hangar steak they substituted was well executed. Wedge salad was pretty horrible. Not even cut; core still in tact; vinegar all throughout in an unpleasant way. Dessert was good, but the crème brûlée was not fully caramelized. It was a beautiful atmosphere, although tables were too close together. Altogether, I likely will not return-- though I can understand if this was an off night due to the holiday, I wouldn't risk it again. Also, lobby smelled like poop. No other way to say it. Not pleasant. Also, there was no forewarning that I would receive an auto-gratuity charge of 20%, especially for a party of 1. That is illegal...? I essentially did not eat the salad; hangar steak + crème brûlée a la carte would have cost $54. I ended up with a charge of $99 out the door-- which I gladly would have paid had service been professional, and all the food had been prepared professionally. The staff, always with a heartwarming smile and welcoming attitude, invite you in as though you've been friends for years. Holiday House is the perfect getaway -from the handwritten note welcoming us back to excellent and prompt service to rooms that delight in space and decor. Each uniquely furnished, the rooms reflect the true mid-century style. My favorite pieces are the ever-so-carefully chosen books throughout the lobby and in each room. What treasures to discover! The honor bar and honor ice cream cart are simply fantastic. In the day's heat, feel like a kid again by visiting the cart adjacent to the bountiful lemon trees. Just beyond the grass, relax under the trees and sky in their lounge area, or pick up a stick and play shuffleboard. The afternoon is never complete without a bike ride, which they have several. And finally, wind down with the friends you met along the way in the hot tub or the restaurant with a glass of wine. This place is a real gem. From service to style, new friends, and old, Holiday House sets itself apart from the rest. Come prepared to enjoy the simple things in life. In their defense they were serving people at the pool as well as room service. But in my defense as a guest I served our table with water twice-- and had to go inside to the bar to get a refill on my actual drink. And yes we all still tipped 20%. read more

My friends and I made reservations for the Friday Night Fried Chicken Dinner, and we were not disappointed at all! Love everything about the private dinner. It's a special experience I have not found yet in Palm Springs. The hotel itself was a cute boutique hotel, perfect for the private dinner. I will always have fond memories here because of this dinner. Lots of laughter and fun conversations. This place was fantastic! The staff was amazing, the food options were amazing and the room was HUGE! They pass out ice cold cloths by the pool to keep you comfortable and there are fresh citrus trees with fruit all around to pair with the great drinks. We wanted to come back the next week but they were on summer break. Highly recommend. read more

Nothing screams Sunday brunch more than an outdoor patio splashed in blue-and-white situated close to a swimming pool. Located within the Holiday House Palm Springs, the restaurant has an indoor bar and an outdoor patio tent for dining. Upon entering the restaurant, they got our reservation and took us to our seats. At the dining table, there were postcards with the name of the reservation holder which was a nice touch. I did have a mini freakout when we noticed that the reservation next to us also had the same name... plus my name, which shouldn't have been known by the restaurant. Turns out, there was another group coming with the same exact two names as us - including my name with two R's. What were the odds. The menu consists of your usual brunch items & drinks. We had an omelette & country fried chicken steak. The omelette was a little too light as it just came with a roll & a side of greens. The country fried chicken steak was on the other end of the spectrum - else it was just right. Service is super attentive, which is great for this cozy little restaurant. There are roughly 6 tables in the patio that fit 4 guests each - otherwise, it was not crowded at all during the morning we went. We stayed at the holiday house last night for one night. I think it was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Small enough and lots of charm. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very cheerful, modern and unique. Nothing cookie cutter about this place. The mattress and bedding were very high-quality. We splurged on one of the largest rooms and it had a nice little kitchen off to the side as well as a large back patio that was well landscaped and even had an outdoor shower which would've been great if it wasn't only 60° yesterday. Super nice pool, spa and outdoor fire pit. Restaurant is great but wish it could be open for dinner. Also a really nice bar and vibe there. read more

Had an expensive but unforgettable lunch here last weekend. The setting is perfect and you can sit outside but remain cool with the fans and mist. The Fried Chicken Friday dinner was awesome. It was very cozy. The staff was great and the food even better. With the exception of the soup and dessert, food was served family style and all you can eat there, no doggy bags. Each course was better than the last.
