Honestly, I was expecting better after hearing so many great things about this place. The bread was a bit stale and underwhelming and came with frozen butter pads. We got the meatballs appetizer and I tried the truffle sauce and the red sauce. They were both good but not anything amazing. The entree I got was the Rigatoni Genovese and boy was it underwhelming. There were probably only 6 small chunks of beef in it - and for the price that really just doesn't cut it. The sauce on it was ok and the actual pasta noodle was good. You would be quite shocked if you googled what Rigatoni Genovese looks like and compare it to what I got. The lack of meat was quite surprising, especially since it was roast beef and not any high end meat like a New York strip or filet mignon. My friend ordered the Lemon Chicken dish and I actually found her dish to be better than mine but she was also ultimately disappointed, saying that it used to be so much better. Chad, our server, was great and did everything with a smile and a polite attitude. Another thing to note was that the place was dead on a Sunday night. Not sure if that is common for them but I found it a bit surprising. The Peruvian place next door had a consistent flow of people going in and out and other restaurants next to them seemed very busy. They also charge you for using a credit card (which I absolutely hate) so maybe take cash if you don't want the extra fee. read more

The food, service and ambience are well worth the price 5 star food: pasta is all homemade.. the sauces and meats are also prepared with care, like someone's grandma from the old country was cooking in her home kitchen. What a gem hidden in plain sight. Decided to try Mamma Mia and was thoroughly impressed. This is the real deal . From a real Italian mamma cooking in the kitchen to the beautiful Frederica running the floor. The food was perfect. The trio of meatballs was exquisite with three kinds of sauces. Pesto, truffle and red sauce. I had the linguine with clams and it was delicious. Not too garlicky with homemade linguine just the right degree of bite . Will definitely be back. I went here about a week ago, and oh my God! The food was incredible. This is a cute, small, locally own little hole in the wall. Italian bistro on the drive. But I was blown away! I got the beet salad, sadly, I didn't get a picture, but it was very tasty! We also had the Caprese salad, which was pretty good. I got the....i don't remember what it was called, but it was like a truffle pear and ricotta or some type of cheese pasta, and oh my god it was incredible! Heavy, but I needed that. My only complaint is I wish there were more vegetables featured on the menu. but they did great with what already is on the menu! read more

I ordered the trio of meatballs, gluten free, as an appetizer and they were fabulous. My non-gluten free husband could not agree more! The owner is very accommodating to the dietary needs or restrictions. The food is authentic Italian! Mama is in the kitchen cooking... and always tasty with a good selection of options and specials. The menu changes from time to time. For those with a gluten diet restrictions, while the menu doesn't highlight GF items, the servers are well trained and the owner visits every table to highlight GF items - including specials that may be GF. The GF dishes are delivered with a GF stickler to ensure it is kept separate from non-GF at the table. When I am in town, I eat here ~1/week and take people here when visiting. The location is convenient to parking and great for taking a post-dinner stroll on Wilton Drive. I highly recommend this restaurant. "Cooks with love" epitomizes the warmth and caring of this family-owned restaurant. What a wonderful experience! As someone with celiac, I've seen too many restaurants post gluten- free menus, yet won't bother to train their staff on even the simplest allergen protocols. Here, virtually everything on the regular menu can be made GF. But more importantly, chef and front house team are knowledgeable at safe preparation to avoid cross contact. It is heaven on earth to find a place like this! The service is welcoming. The food is delicious: everyone in our group loved it. (Everyone else ordered off regular non GF menu). We all tried different things, including apps and entrees: not a dud in the bunch. The place is cozy and inviting, and in my opinion, prices are reasonable for fine dining in South Florida. Tasty selection of wines by the glass/bottle and again, prices seemed reasonable for this area. We couldn't try desserts this visit, but they sounded wonderful and most can be made gluten free! It's always fun to explore new restaurants in Wilton Manors along 'The Drive.' Sometimes it takes a bit for a new kitchen to get up to speed. Mamma Mia Bistro opened a few weeks ago and is an exception...and it is exceptional! We've got a new favorite Italian in the gayborhood. Owned by a mother/daughter duo, the pasta is fresh and dishes flavorful. Mamma clearly knows how to cook! The bistro menu consists of a few select appetizers, salads, pastas and main courses. Our group of five shared and enjoyed every single dish we tried! The "Mamma Mia" appetizer is chef's surprise. Our surprise of the day was a tasting of six appetizers, two on the menu and the rest off. My favorite was the freshest burrata on top of stewed leafy greens. Creamy and salty! The quiche and the Polpette meatballs were also tasty. I even liked the Parmigiana and I usually avoid eggplant. The Lasagna was superb and we wish we had ordered two. The Gnocchi Pesto was bursting with pesto and pine nuts. My fav pasta was the Pappardelli Mushroom. It was perfect al dente with wonderful sliced mushrooms and sauce. Our server surprised us with house-made tiramisu for dessert. So yummy! The wine list is limited, but we were perfectly happy with the Gran Sasso Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, fairly priced at $27 a bottle. We enjoyed chatting with our enthusiastic server, and met the daughter Federica. Menu prices are on the higher end for The Drive, but worth it. We will definitely return and bring other friends, again doing exactly what a sign in the dining room ordered us to do: Sit...Relax...Gossip. read more

We had another wonderful dining experience at Mamma Mia Bistro. We started with the meatballs. I had a meatball with truffle sauce and my husband had his with pesto sauce. Both sauces were amazing. Still the best meatballs I have ever eaten. For our entree, I had Gnocchi with pesto sauce and my husband had the special - Orecchiette (small ear-shaped pasta) with sausage and broccoli. Delicious! The pasta is made in house by Mamma Lory and is OH SO GOOD! As always, Federica made us feel welcome and was very attentive. This hidden gem is authentic Italian done right!! Mamma is in the back cooking and her daughter Federica is out front hosting and serving along with one other server. Fair warning... don't be in a rush. Mamma's cooking and she's doing it all. Good food takes time. The restaurant is decorated nicely. and tables aren't on top of each other like in some restaurants. We started off with a nice bottle of red along with some of the best meatballs I've ever had (hoping my Dad doesn't read this lol). They are so big you can share them. The entrees like chicken Marsala and chicken Limone comes with a fresh salad but you can opt for a side of pasta for additional charge. No issues there. Mamma also made a special of homemade pasta like a wider rigatoni with cherry tomatoes, eggplant and mozzarella. It was amazing. Finally made it to this "new" gem on the drive. We began with then bruschetta trio, and was delicious and lites one the traditional tomatoes, one pesto, one, what I think was to be tomato and roasted red pepper. We both had some of the house made pasta (nothing like fresh pasta). I had the cavatelli pasta with broccoli and sausage in a light cream. FANTASTIC!! My date had the gnocchi with the Sorrentina sauce. That sauce was amazing!! All of this was accompanied by the house Chianti which was perfectly smooth. We were their last customers of the evening and were treated like celebrities... the food was authentic and outstanding. I've never seen a 20% mandatory service tip on top of high prices n the Fort Lauderdale area it's more reserved for tourist in South Beach but there's a reason why they put the tip here, because you do not get good service. read more
