Went in around 4 PM on a Tuesday. They sat us straight away, we chose outside which was a great decision. What a great view of the ocean! The decor was perfect for a beachside restaurant. We ordered seafood nachos and the jerk chicken sandwich & fries. Both dishes were out fast, hot and really delicious. Our server Jennifer was attentive and on point. Very popular place so expect a little wait, but wasn't ridiculous. The food was amazing! Our server, Marty, was top notch too. The patio view is gorgeous, but the food and drinks are very subpar. We ordered the happy hour margarita and one of the newer watermelon drinks (not part of happy hour) and it literally tasted so watered down. We also ordered the smoked tuna dip for an appetizer and it was utterly gross and looked and tasted like they threw it on a plate from a can of cat food. Although the service was decent, we wouldn't return based off the drinks and appetizer we had. read more

Wonderful view from the deck. We had a great seat outside in the shade. Beer selection is not very good. I had a local IPA which was pretty boring. We had the seafood nachos. Honestly, they were not good. Chips were not crunchy and most of the seafood didn't seem too fresh. Great idea, just poorly executed. We also had a bowl of seafood gumbo. It was average. The restaurant is right on the beach and has both indoor and outdoor seating available when we arrive. It was early May and not that busy. The staff was friendly and the service was good. It's a standard tourist restaurant. Food wise, it was just okay, and that is the reason for a three star. Just a tip. Great spot to grab lunch or dinner after spending the day on the beach! Came here during happy hour and was able to grab a seat in the indoor area but still overlooking the beach. We ordered several apps to share including the calamari, tuna dip, and mozzarella sticks. The liked how light the batter on the calamari was and you can tell the calamari is super fresh when they fried it. The tuna dip was also really good and paired nicely with the pita bread and cucumbers. Mozzarella sticks were nothing special, but the kids liked them so that's a win. We also ordered the mahi mahi stuffed with crab and shrimp and came with a twice baked potato and steamed veggies. This was pretty good but nothing spectacular. The crab and shrimp part was a bit salty, which was a bit disappointing. The twice baked potato was also a bit dry and overcooked. Overall, service was pretty good and the view is amazing. Would recommend coming here if you're spending the day on the beach. read more

Five stars for the service. First goes to the manager for getting us reseated after we attempted to eat outside but the sun was far too bright for the littles! We had a party of 8 and still wanted a view of the ocean so it wasn't an easy task but she pulled it off! Another five stars goes to our waitress that was super helpful with meals and all our extra requests - more butter, extra fruit, refills, extra corn, you name it! Three stars for the food and my rating is based off the vegetarian food! I ended up getting the house salad with garlic dressing but it seems they forgot the vinegar in the dressing as it just tasted like oil. I also got a baked potato but by the time I got butter and sour cream it was already cooled down so the butter wasn't totally melted. And for the kids they don't have one vegetarian option so we had to bring dinner for my daughter! The rest of our party enjoyed their meals and most of them got fish! Unfortunately, in 2024 restaurants should have a better selection of vegetarian items and most certainly one option for kids! The ambiance of this place and service is outstanding! Lunchtime on a Wednesday was a very pleasant experience. Service was fast and courteous. Oceanfront dining with indoor and outdoor seating. We tried one of the lunch specials that included 2 "reggae rolls", a cup of gumbo and 4 coconut shrimp. Added on a cup of the soup of the day which was andouille sausage and yellow squash which was very tasty. Gumbo was spicy and thick with sausage, shrimp and rice. Food came quickly and was hot. We had a glass of Pinot Grigio which was a large pour and a Hornitos Margarita in a 16 oz cup. You can also upgrade your drinks to 32 oz souvenir bucket. Ambiance: Caribbean vibe with colorful chairs, nautical decor and lots of weathered wood. It's on the pricey side but what can you expect for a beach resort? read more

Pompano Joe's came to our rescue!! This year I planned a Surprise Birthday Party for my husband's 70th in Destin with family coming in from all over the US. The original plan included reserving a space /room at another popular Destin restaurant which was reserved in early January. In April, a week before the event , I drove over to Destin (*2 hours from my home) to check out the party space. During a phone call to the restaurant and a personal visit, I experienced 3 situations with staff that immediately sent up major red flags. Though invitations had gone out months before , I no longer felt comfortable taking our family & friends there. I was now on a mission to find another place and FAST! I called several places and Pompano Joe's called me back. The reviews for Pompano Joe's mentioned they were excellent at providing service for large groups -although they don't take reservations. After hearing my story about the other venue, I was told by the Assistant Manager and Manager that they would absolutely find a place (basically make- it- go -right) to accommodate our Birthday group and celebration allowing us to eat, hang out at our pace, decorate the space, etc., I was also told they would put their top notch server on the deck with our group. And boy did they ever! We had the best birthday party EVER on the North Deck at Pompano Joe's. The weather was gorgeous. Our group is still talking about how awesome our server was. She was "on it!" -a Super woman who could have easily handled the group blindfolded. The food? Fantastic! It was a very special day for us. Thank you! Thank you! Pompano Joe's for jumping in and coming to the rescue and also becoming part of the perfect day and beautiful memories made for my husband and the entire family! You all ROCK! read more

The food was amazing! We sat on the back deck at sunset which provided a gorgeous view. We did have to order using our phone flashlight. The lights remain very dim on the back deck so sea turtles don't mistakenly walk toward to the business instead of toward the water (moon) while nesting. I had the garlic crusted grouper and it was amazing! The PJs Street Corn and baked potato were cooked to perfection also! Would definitely recommend for seafood. For non seafood, the only options were sandwiches/burgers unless you want a large $40 steak. read more

Snapper $39 - 4/5 - I personally enjoyed the Grouper a little more, but cannot go wrong with this. Both comes with 2 sides. We have noticed that the food in Destin overall is good not great. Husband had shrimp and lobster and he was happy as well. My sister had the coconut shrimp, I had a sample and would definitely order that again! Niece had the fried shrimp and was very happy and ate it all! Kind of pricey for the amount of food we got, but the views sure made up for it.
