Portland Food Fights Lord of the Wings Challenge stop #4. The South Portland location has a large sign hanging outside Dine In resumes 06/14/21. Well I believe with the recent updates there is no indoor dining. You can pickup only at their entrance. You call it in in order online. The Wings are plain but very crispy. Thru came with a yummy thai sweet & sour (not the Chinese red sauce). The sauce was a nice addition making for a sweet glaze on the wing. We even noticed they put a notch in the takeout lid to help keep the Wings crispy. I have not eaten any of their Thai meals from the menu as this was my first visit but they sounded great and I'll be back. They are not too far from the Maine Mall...on back street behind where Sea Dogs, El Rodeo and Harbor Freight are. Same center as Moe's BBQ. Plenty of free parking.

This place was so good that we went there twice in three days! Everything we ordered was so tasty and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this to those visiting Portland!

    Pepper liquid

I ordered takeout from Pom's Thai last night. My wife is on a special diet and got the chicken katsu, which is described as coming with "vegetable lomein" and having "sauce on the side." We also selected "no spicy" when ordering. We asked for it without lomein, as she just wanted the plain chicken katsu. However, when we opened the dish, it was filled with vegetables and had plenty of sauce. I suppose "vegetable lomein" means vegetables AND lomein to them. Ugh. Normally, I would overlook a mistake due to a language barrier, but I don't know, when it comes in a pool of liquid, THAT'S A SAUCE. Don't say that the sauce is on the side, if there's ALSO A SAUCE in the dish. And if a customer orders something "no spicy," then maybe DON'T PUT A BUNCH OF PEPPERS IN IT. The result is that my wife was not able to eat the dish. I called to complain, but they insisted that the sauce was on the side. Pepper liquid doesn't count!

Such a mixed bag here. I took my wife and two grown daughters here for lunch. The girls ordered pad si ew and I ordered the spicy fried rice. The girls thought their dishes were "pretty good". I found my dish to be neither "spicy" or "fried". The rice was fluffy as if it was steamed, not fried. The menu gave this dish a two "chili" rating but I found that the heat was almost imperceptible...... not pleased. The service was simultaneously very friendly and ridiculously amateurish. The waiter recognized I had completed my meal and asked if he could take my plate. I said, "yes". He then stood next to my wife for approximately 30 seconds as she completed her lunch. As soon as she took her last bite he asked her if he could take her plate. She couldn't even answer because her mouth was full. This was not an isolated incident... the whole meal was marked with a pleasant staff that made the experience very awkward with their clumsy service. Bottom line the food was decent, the staff was friendly but I am not sure I will be back considering all of the excellent Thai restaurants in the Portland area.

You can really taste the care and authenticity in every dish. We stopped here for dinner during our Portland trip, and my husband and I ordered a bunch of dishes to share so we could try as much as possible. We had different types of skewers, quail eggs, calamari, beef panang, and stir-fried noodles. And of course, we had to finish with their famous black sticky rice with coconut. There wasn't a single bad dish. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, and tasted authentic. Each dish had its own unique flavor profile, and nothing felt boring or one dimensional. The ambiance was also really cute and cozy, making it a great spot for a date night or a nice dinner with someone special. The service was phenomenal too. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and incredibly fast without making us feel rushed. Honestly, I'd come back to Portland just to eat here again. Definitely a must try if you're looking for flavorful, authentic Thai food!

Kra Pao chicken was delicious too. Grilled rice ball was meh, too salty. Desserts were ok, nothing too crazy. Lovely decor, even the bathroom is stunning! Clearly a lot of care has been taken on the inside and it shows. A small, intimate experience, but comfy tables and chairs and great staff. The menu is delightful and has a range of usual favorites - Satay, Cucumber Salad, Pad Thai, etc. But, they also have some other dishes I hadn't seen and have a sauce flight option that was cute to get with your fried chicken. We chose a Papaya salad, chicken wings, crying tiger, and a chicken red curry. The papaya salad was stellar. It was a bit spicy but not too much and was so fresh and delicious, I will dream about it! My husband loved the wings and literally devoured all of them. His steak was perfectly cooked and delicious as well. My curry was also perfect - loaded with fresh veggies of which the eggplant was my favorite. Our server, Anna, was wonderful and sweet and very good with our toddler. They had a nice dessert menu with some delicious items available and a specialty coconut cake I really wanted but hubs wanted to get soft serve elsewhere with our toddler. I left with a Thai tea to go that was stellar. All in all - a 10 out of 10!

First thing to note is that the menu seems to have changed substantially, offering more Thai-adjacent and pan-Asian food than authentically Thai food. I ordered their coconut soup (Tom Kha; $10) to start and a local mushroom bowl as my main--both vegan by default. It took a while for the food to come out--maybe 20 mins for the soup and another 15 for the main. The soup was nicely seasoned, maybe being a bit too thick, and not allowing the galangal/lime leaf to breathe as much as it should. But I liked how it came with red pepper, tomato, mushroom and tofu. The main was not really Thai at all, coming with a rather stingy portion of tempeh, two kinds of mushrooms, red pepper, Lima beans, and microgreens. Reasonably seasoned but just not that interesting. Overall, disappointing relative to my previous experience, but still pretty good.

Well, I'm here to tell you - don't sleep on it. I got the choo chee banh mi and I was extremely impressed. This is a little counter servicee takeout spot that has some outdoor seating that you can help yourself to. I ordered online and walked over to pick it up. I got there a little early based on what it said my pickup time would be and I ended up getting it a minute or two after it was done - I didn't want it sitting because the breading on the fish would have probably gotten soft. So, the fish, cooked perfectly. It was a piece of white fish and it flaked perfectly, stayed moist, the breading was light and it was topped with a slightly spicy, slightly sweet thai chili type sauce. It had some fresh pickled daikon and carrots along with some cilantro- that was it. Simple. No bells and whistles just perfectly executed. What really separates a good banh mi from a great one, the bread. The bread on this sandwich is what I noticed immediately. Glass-like shattering exterior that lets you into a pillowy and slightly chewy interior. From start to finish, I was thinking about how good that bread was. I feel like this is where most banh mi fall short. Not here. You won't be disappointed, give it a shot!
