Went there over the weekend with some family that lives in the area, it was my first time there but my family has been there before. The atmosphere is really nice, the walls are brightly colored, there are cool decorations along the walls and they have soothing music playing. The staff is very friendly, they remembered my family members and even their orders from the last visit. The food was great, we had dumplings and the fried calamari to start and I had pineapple chicken fried rice and my family had pork fried rice, ginger duck and see-ew. For some reason, Summit's relative affluence translates into a surprisingly high ratio of mediocre restaurants. Summit Thai is a typical Asian place that seems to do 90% of its business as take out, the odd windowless dining room through a long corridor notwithstanding. You know what you'll get if you've ever ordered from a Thai place on seamless; vegetables that likely came from big frozen bags out of the Sysco truck, chicken and pork with roughly the same color, consistency, and flavor. Food is fantastic here, been ordering delivery for a long time through doordash. My last order's portion size was cut by at least one third. They have these new take out containers that contain way less food, all for the SAME prize I always pay. That downsize includes my appetizer, entree, and rice. Finding a new Thai place, and will let the community know this is the reputation they have here; they have no problem getting over on their regular customers. Duck Noodle Soup! I have been coming to Summit Thai Cuisine for years. They make reliable curries and noodles and the vegetables and proteins are fresh. I am prompted to write today because I had the duck noodle soup and it was excellent. The broth is rich and tasty, the duck plentiful, the rice noodles properly cooked and lovely book choi for crunch and color. Highly recommend! read more

Since there was a deal offered, I decided to try takeout. Ordered Muck Prik Pow (squid) and Brownish Cashew nuts. Boy were we disappointed!! When we opened the containers, both were only half filled. The squid wasnt spicy at all and with the way egg was added in, looked like someone puked into it. Taste was so-so. The other dish was ordered with pork, which was sooooo overcooked. It looked like they added whatever vegetables they had available. And the cashews were so mushy, and no ginko nuts at all. I agree with some of the other reviews, this was in no way authentic Thai food. If I had paid full price, I would be really pissed now. 11 friends and I went to Summit Thai on a Tuesday evening in December. We were the only patrons. The restaurant had no other diners and did not have any take-out customers. Food: Inauthentic & over cooked. We ordered several appetizers. I tasted the curry puff and the egg roll. Both were over-fried and as a result tasted like oil soaked mush. A friend and I split the Tamarind Duck and Drunken Noodles. Others in our party ordered the Peanut Chicken, another duck dish, a few curries, etc. My meal of duck and Drunken Noodle was terrible. The duck was over fried which left the skin very crispy but the duck dried out. The vegetables with the Tamarind Duck were barely cooked, not slightly cooked so that they would be warm, but still crunchy - pretty much raw. The Drunken Noodles were just disgusting. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The noodles obviously were reheated in the microwave - not freshly cooked rice noodles drizzled in oil as one expects. Also there was no kick or spice to the Drunken Noodle. I love Thai food and my mother is of SE Asian descent: THIS IS NOT GOOD SE ASIAN FOOD. Service: our party of 12 were the only diners in the restaurant. When we wanted to place our appetizer order, we had to summon our servers twice. When we wanted to place our dinner order, we had to summon our servers. They provided water for the table regularly. Around 9:15 PM the "mood" lights were turned off and the brighter lights were turned on - instead of a server coming to our table and reminding our party that they close at 9:30 PM we got the "light" treatment. My husband decided to order Thai food for our lunch. We both had Pad Ke Mao (drunken noodles) I had beef with 3 stars of heat and my husband had shrimp with the highest heat. I was extremely disappointed with my lunch. I was starting to feel sick that I was not able to finish my meal. Is the sauce suppose to me watery? It had a weird taste and smell to it. It was like they didn't cook it from scratch but got the sauce from a jar that's been sitting on a self for a very long time. My husband's lunch was a lot better then mine. I like this place for lunch. I always get the tofu with red curry & brown rice or the drunken noodle. The food comes out quickly and the waitstaff is nice. They have done what they can as far a decor in the dining room - its kind of weird how you have to walk down an indoor alley to get to it, but hey! Summit Thai luncheon specials are reasonable values. Avoid dinner, though, which is a poor value for the money. My three stars are a compromise between four for lunch and two for dinner. And buyer beware! Restaurant sales tax in New Jersey is 7%. Summit Thai consistently overcharges tax. Check your bill carefully. History has shown that they can't be trusted. read more

Just moved close to downtown Summit and gave this place a try. Loved it! My boyfriend got the Golden Ginger entree with chicken, which was delicious. I had an equally delicious pineapple fried rice. I vomited twice today after having food out here. They were better until 6 months ago..I have been seeing them decorating over the last 6 months. I have been their customer for about 2.5 years now... but not anymore... I screwed up my health and I feel something is seriously wrong with their food quality and kitchen hygiene. So, I am a regular customer. I work in town and I would come on my lunch, usually every payday. Well today I got a soup and two appetizers.. one of the appetizers I took one little bite and I just did not like it at all. And not to offend the place, I just personally did not like the texture, it sounded delcious which was why I ordered it but just did not meet my expectations unfortunately (it was a new item Thai Chive Vegetable Dumpling). I had mentioned to her I did not want to pay for it and she said ok. And mind you I never do this. Don't think I ever did that in my life. Later I got my bill, the appetizer was still on there and I asked if they could take it off. Another girl left and came back and said no because they had already prepared for me. Ordered dinner takeout. When I went to pick up the food, the lady at the front was super sweet but don't think I will be returning. Portion sizes (for dinner) were tiny - maybe for a lunch portion, it would be acceptable but to charge $14 for a chicken dish and to fill half a container is ridiculous. I like Summit Thai for lunch, when a special limited menu of appetizer and entree is available for about $11.50, tax and tip included. My favorite appetizer is their dumplings, which are quite special. My favorite entree is green curry. I am usually asked what hotness level I prefer. The one time they forgot to ask and I did too I got hotness level 0 (bland), which was terrible. I tolerate and ask for level 5 but most Americans will not like it that hot. This restaurant has possibly the best value for lunch in all of Summit. read more
