This little gem is truly amazing! My father in law recommended it and once I started going there it was the only place for me. What I love is that it's one on one and so relaxing, it's all natural and done by hand and she takes her time doing it to perfection. You have to rebook before you go otherwise you won't get in unless there's a cancellation. To me when a place is that booked it says something too about an establishment. So be patient because she will do everything to accommodate or try her best to get you in but if she can't especially last minute, you have to accept that people preplan with Tanya just to see her. Dionne and Tania are a couple of the sweetest, down to earth ladies you'll have the honor to get get your nails done by. The make you feel very comfortable and go above and beyond to make my nail dreams come true. The atmosphere and setting is very peaceful and comforting. This place is the best! Pono is the gold standard for cleanliness and professionalism. I will admit that I am very picky when it comes to manicures and pedicures. I'd rather do my own nails than just go someplace and get a so-so manicure. It just feels like a waste of valuable time and money to me at most places I've been. And don't get me started on the salon I went to at the recommendation of a friend and two weeks later found that I had a lovely fungal infection under most of my nails. They are a natural nail salon (no acrylics). I have been a long term customer since 2009. Tanya and Dionne are thorough and maticulous. Everything they use is either autoclaved or disposable. I appreciate their Brand loyalty to Raw 33. I've been to most of the upper end and mid-range nail salons in the Costa Mesa and Newport Beach area... and I have to say, my experience at Pono is so far one of the best ever. Their customer service paired with the intimate setting, smiling faces, good conversations and excellent mani and pedi, have made me an instant fan and regular. I can't wait to go back. I like that it is not a large, corporate run salon, so I am supporting a small business, with no chance of the employees being underpaid or being treated unfairly. That's a big concern for me. I'm from Pennsylvania and I come to visit my brother out in SoCal a few times a year and every time I do I come to Pono Nail Studio to get a mani/pedi!!! I've gotten them at places back home and the quality just doesn't measure up. First you are welcomed in and treated like you are the most important person in the world. Service is king and you feel like royalty when you're here. Both Tanya and Dionne are professionals and you can tell they not take their craft seriously but they love what they do. It's always one of my favorite things to do when I'm visiting. I plan on moving out here in the future and I will make this a regular treat for myself. You walk into this cozy nail studio and you are treated like a member of the family....when I leave my nails look gorgeous and the quality is nothing like other places where you starting chipping in a few days...my gels are good 3 weeks later. I've only recently started going to salons to get my nails done and my previous regular technician never failed to cut and bleed me. I have now also had the pleasure of experiencing Dionne's work ethic as well in conjunction with Tanya's and know why they are business partners. I was in dire need of a pedicure and came upon Pono Nail Studio on Yelp. I called to make an appointment (a big plus for me) for later in the day and, luckily, there was one available. I was even called back a little later to ask if I wanted to come in earlier (I couldn't but really appreciated their thoughtfulness). During my initial call, I was given very specific directions to find them. I was familiar with the shopping center but didn't know that there are smaller salon services in the Phenix Salon Suites above Road Runner Sports and next to Yogaworks. The studio is small (2 chairs), very clean, nicely decorated, and relaxing. Dionne is so sweet and friendly, and really took her time on my pedicure. She made sure that I wasn't experiencing any discomfort and did a great job!! Hands down the best mani and pedi in Orange County. I am very picky about my nails. I want a nice, calm, relaxing service and perfect nails when I walk out the door and Pono delivers exactly that. It is tucked away off a busy street so you don't hear traffic and a million people walking past even though the location is very convenient.
