Ponzu was such a great experience from start to finish! The fish was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and every bite was packed with flavor. We especially loved the hand rolls and sashimi, you can really tell they use high-quality ingredients. The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. The restaurant itself has a cozy, modern atmosphere that's perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. If you're looking for fresh sushi and a great overall dining experience, Ponzu is definitely worth a visit. We'll absolutely be coming back!

It's been awhile since we've visited and remembered enjoying the experience from previous visits. There's ample parking. We got there at 5:45pm and it was already semi packed with several tables already reserved. Ambience is nice, restaurant is clean and spacious. Service was good. As a walk-in we got seated right away at the end of the bar, which was fine (since we wanted to sit at the bar) and hadn't made reservations. Note this is a review for what I would call a tier 2 sushi joint. I consider tier 1 to be more omakase style and/or premium Michelin star type venues. We enjoyed everything, especially the uni toro spoon. The hand rolls and rolls are filling so it's a great value for your money. We had hot sake and Kirin. Was able to catch the last few minutes of the happy hour menu - Sky special & hot sake. We ordered the following for 2: Tinker Bell hand roll, crispy rice spicy tuna, Sky's special, Bubble Bee roll, triple belly sashimi, seared salmon belly carpaccio, black cod sushi, Nodoguro (white fish) sushi, unagi hand roll, salmon skin hand roll, uni toro spoon (my favorite)! Would come back again to enjoy your everyday typical tier 2 style sushi. Tier 1 sushi is typically saved for special occasions.

Ponzu Sushi Bar (and their sister restaurant Yuzu) are still some of my favorite sushi in OC if you want really delicious, creative sushi rolls! I devoured my food so fast I forgot to take photos and only managed an initial photo of the menu. Love it here!

$8 SWEET SHRIMP SUSHI: SINGLE PIECE! The fresh, raw sweet shrimp with Masago. Then the fried shrimp head, which is my absolutely favorite!

PARKING (4/5): Lot is big, but gets busy nights and weekends. AMBIANCE (4/5): Very modern, clean, semi-casual. SERVICE (5/5): Service was prompt and they checked on us regularly. They also cleared dishes constantly as soon as we finished clearing up table space. Our drinks were never empty. FOOD (4/5): Everything here was really good! We didn't realize we ordered all no rice rolls which were quite nice! Not as filling and could order more. It was an all girls dinner, so we didn't feel to full after. $12 SPICY GARLIC EDAMAME: wasn't too spicy, roasted/dry edamame with crunchy garlic, we literally scooped this on our plate and ate the garlic alone! So good. $8 SEAWEED SALAD: typical seaweed salad. Big portion. Was nice to have on the side to complement everything. $16 HEY SEXY ROLL: NO RICE! Wrapped in soy paper. Tons of fish! The sauce came separate, we all didn't love the sauce so just used soy sauce instead. $28 SALMON TRUFFLE SASHIMI: AMAZING! Fatty pieces of salmon (5 pieces), perfectly sauced, light truffle flavor. Perfect bite. $8 SWEET SHRIMP SUSHI: comes with 1 PIECE! The fresh, raw sweet shrimp with Masago. Then the fried shrimp head, which is my absolutely favorite! Crunchy & flavorful. Worth every bite.

Love this place, the food and drinks. I came to celebrate for a special occasion and everything was delicious! For appetizers, we got the crispy rice spicy tuna and baked green mussels. very flavorful. For the main, we ordered the Ponzu roll, very light with some spicy-ness, and the Long Beach roll, probably my favorite. Highly recommend this place!

TLDR: flavor decreased, size and quality decreased compared to my last visit, the quality has unfortunately decreased so much.. I loved them for their phenomenal salty sweet balance for their trust sushi set. This time, the rice was too wet and basically had no seasoning. The sushi slices and mussels are much smaller than last time too. I don't know if they're struggling, but I would hope they don't take it out on the customers.

My friend and I tried this sushi spot on a Saturday around 3pm. We were impressed! We tried two different rolls and a salmon carpaccio. All 3 dishes were delicious! Their presentation was really pretty too. Service was great. I would come back and try more! :)

Mango Tango roll, Mr. Lyn roll, crispy rice w/ spicy tuna

I came here for lunch around 1:30 and the place was pretty much empty with a few people sitting at the bar. It's clean inside and there's a lot to choose from on the menu! Service was okay, we did have to flag down our waiter to ask for the check after having finished our meal for a bit. It's pretty expensive for what's being given, especially the crispy rice w/ spicy tuna ($10 for two small pieces), which was also wasn't very flavorful.

Triple Belly Sashimi

The quality of the food was amazing and they have a great variety of things as well! the quality of the fish was amazing, no fishy taste and the toro melts in your mouth. They also have rolls, Miso was delicious. The service and staff was extremely friendly!

Always good to stop in! Impromptu birthday dinner even came with surprise ice cream and song! We finally moved back to the state and can come back more regularly but this didn't disappoint. Fresh, quick, friendly, and tasty! Great prices for quality and amount!

Long Beach Roll and Octopus roll

Got on the waitlist but it really wasn't long till we were seated. Ordered a few beers and split the Long Beach roll and Octopus roll. Ordered the Toro crispy rice as well. Everything was great. I think this is the new sushi spot for me. Waitstaff is kind and the overall ambience was chill. I'll be back

Long Beach Roll

Ordered take out, only took 16 mins! Friendly service during pick up. Everything was well packed and sealed. Ordered the following; Long Beach Roll 5/5: savory sweet, tastes like a summer night at a festival with red lanterns and bright lights. Ponzu Roll 5/5: lemony with some heat from the jalapeños. Tastes like refreshing cool summer morning/afternoon breeze. Philadelphia 5/5: husband says it tastes great haha Katsu Entree 4/5: tastes good, but a little dry. I recommend enjoying the Ponzu roll first before a Long Beach roll. Having a refreshing taste first and then eating something sweet and savory mix is better than the other way around. Which I found out after haha. Had a great experience, definitely want to try again.

Came for happy hour on a rainy Friday night and really enjoyed the menu selection, cozy atmosphere, and quick service. It wasn't my favorite sushi as far as freshness, but a positive experience overall!

My party of 4 each opted for the Omakaze and Akira happily convinced me to get the sake flight. Chef Makoto had new and different seasonal dishes prepared for us this time, and it was nice that their Ikura Bowl remained a staple on the omakze set. Every dish course was a stunner, but the halibut, chutoro, yellowtail, and amberjack were standouts for me. As last time, the ambiance was quiet as the restaurant is on the smaller side. I've sat at the bar every time so I can't say as how noisy it would be sitting at a table. Making a reservation is highly encouraged but drop ins are welcome. I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years, and this place easily ranks in my Top 3. Every piece was exceptionally fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I have to admit, I'm usually not a fan of tuna. But the moment I tasted the tuna here, I thought, "Have I been eating fake tuna all my life?" It was that good--clean, rich, buttery, and unlike anything I've had before. Another pleasant surprise was the California roll. I've eaten countless California rolls, but this was the first time I had one made with real crab instead of imitation crab. The difference was incredible, and I was genuinely impressed. The restaurant itself is stunning. The interior design is elegant and thoughtfully done. What I initially thought was wallpaper turned out to be artwork by a renowned art director, which made me appreciate the space even more. And the fish-shaped light fixtures hanging from the ceiling are absolutely beautiful. Finding a truly outstanding sushi restaurant that I can keep coming back to is rare, and I'm so happy I found this place. This is the kind of sushi spot that turns first-time visitors into regulars. Highly recommended!

I'm glad to see that Tori has switched over to an AYCE menu! I always thought that their half-roll…read moreordering would be a great venue for trying out multiple rolls and sides. The food still tastes just as good as before. They've changed the menu slightly but my go-to rolls are still there. The waitress was very helpful in introducing us to the new ordering system, and we worked out the kinks pretty quickly. We came in at around 2pm on a Friday, so ordering was quick and the food came out just as fast. I saw some people coming in wanting to order a la carte, but the waitress said they weren't able to do that at the moment. I know this might be a rough transition to a new system so I hope people will give them a chance to figure it out. Overall, the food is still great and I'm happy I can try some of their sides I've been wanting to try, but now it comes with all the rolls that I can double and triple order! I'm sure their new ordering system will be streamlined over time and I hope their AYCE transition will be a successful one.

We decided to try a new AYCE sushi spot instead of heading to one of our usuals on Friday evening…read more We saw that Tori Tori had a new AYCE menu and the pictures looked great. We were immediately greeted upon arrival, and were explained the menu. They are currently on a new, all you can eat only, menu with a fixed price. The hostess explained the ordering process very deeply. If anything, it was almost a little overwhelming, but they were helpful. There are certain menu items (premium items and hotpot) that you need to order through your waiter while you order the rest on the app. At first, it was a little difficult, and we also had some errors in our online ordering table, but we got it mostly sorted out. The menu has a fairly good selection of nigiri and rolls. There is a solid selection of appetizers as well. The menu offers the premium sashimi with a limit of 3 pcs per person. At the time, they also had hotpot dishes included in the menu. As far as AYCE sushi goes, the quality of the fish at Tori Tori was almost all fantastic. The yellowtail and salmon were some of the best I've had at an all you can eat restaurant. The tuna was ok, a little chewy, except for the bluefin sashimi which was great. As for the fried foods, if that's something you like to order at AYCE sushi, I'd keep it limited. It's all fresh and fairly well executed, but it felt like their oil might have been a little bit old or they were frying on too low of a temperature. All of our fried food were quite dark, oily, and had a bit of a fryer oil flavor. That being said, it was all still enjoyable. We only got one roll, which was a dynamite scallop type roll. The roll was ok, felt like it had a bit too much crab which tends to be a common thread at AYCE places. Our one gripe with it was that they seemed to toast/torch the whole roll rather than just the top if that makes sense. It was kind of hot throughout which made for a weird eating experience. But also the rolls are all mostly 4 pieces which is great for being able to try them without filling up. The hotpot was a surprising thing to have on the menu, but at the end of the meal we decided to split one. It was actually quite good. It was nice to have a warm and fresh cooked dish to round off the meal of raw fish and fried apps. I think Tori Tori is definitely a great option for AYCE sushi in Orange. Clearly they are still in the beginnings of implementing this menu and there are a few things that need to be sorted out/streamlined. I don't think the ordering system, especially with how much explanation it requires, is sustainable. Even the menu looked like it needed some refinement. Some things were missing pictures and didn't match the paper menu. They also didn't offer miso soup in any capacity which felt weird for a sushi restaurant (and I know they had it on the menu before implementing the AYCE). Besides any small road bumps, I think the flavor trumps all of that. I'll definitely be back sometime for AYCE sushi in the future.

We were seated promptly, my friend took on the obligation of explaining me how it all worked. The first issue I ran into was that the service in the shopping center is notoriously slow, and unfortunately the restaurant didn't offer any WiFi for customers, making it so that we kind of had to just juggle between grabbing whatever room temperature sushi came to us via conveyor belt (which was only salmon sushi, nothing else) or waiting for our phones to load up the ordering platform which let us do maybe 3 orders before completely crashing. I have been to kura a couple of times, and I liked their system of discarding the plates and counting as you go, Kaisen kind of just expects you to let your old plates pile up and they count them at the end. The employees were practically useless, you didn't get your water filled up, it had to be ordered on the system for them to acknowledge you. I am fine with modernity, but I feel that this place is picking and choosing very poorly what they "update". Would I come back? Maybe, but not my by own doing.
