I was a loyal customer for a while. But I will no longer be using them. They are one of the lower priced dog groomers in the area, but I have learned there is a reason for that. Today I had made an appointment for 10am for my Maltipoo. They told me it might take a while, but did not specify how long. I assumed no more than 3hrs. At 1pm I had not heard from them, so I called and was told that it would be at least another hour. I asked why it was taking so long, and the man said "we don't guarantee time, it could take up to 8 hours". EIGHT HOURS! I told him that no one had told me 8 hours, and that that is absolutely asinine, and if this is their policy then I was not going to use them again. When I said this, the man on the phone reacted "well if you're not going to use us again, then just come get your dog. He's been washed, you can have him free ." And hung up on me. My dog really needed a haircut. I called back and got a different person, but I could hear the other man in the background shouting that now he refused to cut my dog's hair. The other man on the phone told me that it would now be at least 2 hours. Since the man in the background was now saying that he was not going to cut my dogs hair, I asked if Stuart was actually going to get a haircut. The man in the phone kept flip flopping. He would say "it will take at least 2hrs." And then say "you should come get your dog, he's not getting cut." And then say again "it will take about 2hours." I finally sent my boyfriend to go pick up Stuart without a haircut, because I was too livid about the whole situation. I understand they have a lot of customers, but they should know better than to book more than they can handle. Yes, you might save $10/20 using this place, but your dog will also be trapped in a kennel for 5hours or more. They overbook so they can have cheaper prices, but then your dog will be stuck there ALL day, in a crate. I would rather pay a bit extra and not have my dog scared in a crate all day. read more

Pooch Pawlor is my absolute favorite place to take my dog, Bear. He is Pomeranian and is super furry. When we get him after he has been given the works, my dog is happy, fluffy, handsome, smells great, and perky. I have special instructions for him (i like his long tail and long ear hairs) and they have never messed up and cut it anyways like I have had other places do. I have since learned my lesson and have brought him only to this place since. He needs another dogdy day, so I will be calling to make an apt soon! read more

Moved to Vegas, and still come here every so often to bring my pups! I've brought Enzo to different grooming places until I found Pooch Pawlor, and I'll never go elsewhere! They do a great job, and for such a good price! Staff is always so friendly, and I trust them with my baby dog, Enzo. I like that they ask how much hair do you want to keep on your pup, and they have a diagram that shows you how much hair you can keep/take off. I called Pooch Pawlor around 9:30 in the morning to bring my dog in as a walk-in. They told me to bring him in at 11:30. This place was recommended to me by 2 different people so I decided to try them out. As I dropped off my dog, I found the groomer very busy and lots of employees in the back. Time went by, 2 hours, 3 hours... 4 hours and no call. I finally decided to stop by to see if my dog was almost done. As soon as the front desk saw me, they quickly rushed to take my dog out to look like they were working on him. I demanded they bring him out after being in a cage for 4 hours with no water or walks. They called and offered me a complementary groom to make up for their mistake... I will never come back... read more

It is with great sadness that I have to write this review especially after I thought I found a close pet groomer that is of value. My doberman has had usual appointments every 3 months. Our usual time was at 8:30 am right when they opened so that they can take care of him and be done by around 11-12. I'm not sure why this time things went different but here goes: My doberman was dropped off on Friday 10/21/2016 at 8:30 am with a scheduled appointment for that time. When we called around 11 we were told that he wasn't even started on. My dog waited in a crate for an hour and a half after his scheduled appointment. In the past I've had an appointment that was later in the day and thus I understood the necessary wait. However the staff was less than helpful in explaining why our dog had to wait in a crate for an hour and a half first thing in the morning after they opened up. When he was picked up we were told by the gentlemen at the front that "the guy who usually does him was not in for work that day". Upon asking why we recieved no phone call about this change we were constantly bombarded with "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry". To make matters worse when he was dropped off we specificially asked if they wanted us to remove his pinch collar to which they declined and said they manage. When he was picked up we found that they slid the pinch collar still attached over his head, over his eyes and out. Anyone who is knowledgeable in the area of pinch collars can understand how this is a huge red flag. I'm not sure why the staff completely dropped the ball this time and threw customer service and a basic lack of respect and compassion for an animal out the door but we will not be returning. Our dog has an upcoming vet visit to make sure he has no injuries from having had a pinch collar pulled out over his head, neck and eyes. For potential new customer I would recommend looking around for another groomer because this too can happen to you. read more

I took my mini black poodle here for the first time last week and I have to say that I'm really impressed! A week later, her hair still looks healthy and shiny! They did a great job trimming her fur and making it all even. Nice ear cleaning too. Finished pretty quickly compared to other groomers. Definitely taking my dog back again! read more

Pooch Pawlor does a great job and takes care of your pet. We have been bringing our small yorkie mix here every few months for the last few years and the staff always remembers him, his haircut, and our personal preferences. I've been having my coco groomed at poochpawler for awhile now and everything has been okay until now. When I picked him up I was actually very pleased on how they groomed him since it's been better than the usual. The next day I noticed his right eye was red so I brought him to the vet. I was told that usually this happened when there's increased pressure in the head which could be from the collar. Now, we don't use those neck collar and I know they do when they groom so I called them the next day. I was told they will investigate it and call me the next day, but guess what? 5 days passed and no phone call. Sometimes accidents happen but it's what you do after is important. read more

The last 3 times I've been very disappointed with the grooming service. Thinking it was a one time incident, I went back but the service kept on deteriorating. Horrible horrible have been taking my babies ther for 1 1/2 years. In the beginning they did great then about 3 hair cuts in one of my pups started having cut marks on her neck and body from the clippers. Finally said something and was told the groomer had been fired for several complaints. Hair cuts after that stayed mediocre at best but the last 4 sessions have become progressively worse. Never listen to instructions. Ask for a certain thing in one dog and they don't do it. They do it to the other. The last hair cut was the worst. One of my dogs had her hair completely cut off. Did not listen to what I asked, as usual and then practically cut ALL her hair off. Hair that we had been growing for almost a year. Body hair (skirt) and face hair. Damn dog looked like a chihuahua. Complained and was told of it's just the swirl of the hair that makes it look like that. No way!! Will not ever recommend this place. They DO NOT listen read more

Loved this place!! Rainer was very professional and knowledgeable... they treated my doggies with love and care and they came out an hour later looking PERFECT! Groomed, washed, trimmed, teeth brushed... silky smooth... everything. And, hold on, here comes the kicker- they were actually happy!!!!!!! This is the first time my dogs didn't bound into my arms and hang on for dear life after a grooming sesh. They actually liked the staff and didn't mind hanging around!!!! It's a miracle. Well, this is a mixed review. Took my pup in this past week and I was impressed with the friendly professional guys in the front. The place is clean and cute. You can request an appointment online which is pretty awesome and they call you when your dog is all set to be picked up. Also, the pricing is great!! My lil' guy came out really happy and he was cute....but.... here's where my review gets tricky. When he came out the guy said "She did well" and he had a pink bow, he's a boy...and I don't care that much, I mean he IS pretty, but they were grooming for 3 hours...no one noticed he wasn't a girl? haha? Here's my real concern though - I could tell he had been groomed from the back half. The front half, besides being brushed I saw no change at all. Not even his ears, chest, neck or face was done. I asked how he did and they said he was REALLY hyper. Jumping out of the tub and off the table and they deal with sharp objects...so.... Yikes!! That's quite a ways to jump... He IS a year old, and we just rescued him 2 months ago so he's still learning his manners and he has longer hair, but surely they deal with other hyper dogs? Here's the thing I bathe him in our tub every week by myself, he does fine. I took him to another groomer a month ago and he came out looking AMAZING and they girl couldn't say enough nice things about him, how calm he was, how well he did with the bath, scissors, shavers and hair dryers. We were pretty sure that had been the first time he'd ever been groomed besides nails and he aced it. I would've taken him back, but they are about $30 more than this place. Once I got him home my husband asked me right away if they had even groomed him! He was brushed, he smelled great, but I took him in to get cut and they only thing that was done was his tail and hind quarters. The more I looked at him, the more unsatisfied I was. We ended up taking him to yet ANOTHER groomer this same week. I told them that he hadn't "behaved" at the last place (Pooch Pawlor) and to see what they could do. When I picked him up 2 hours later, he looked fabulous! They were honest, they said yup, he's an excited 1 year old pup, but nowhere near difficult! He did great in their tub, was fine on the table and although he was a little wiggly it wasn't anything that was abnormal at all. In fact, he did a lot better than some! With those facts in mind... Something about Pooch Pawlor doesn't sit quite right with me. Either the other 2 groomers are lying about his behavior...although he came out of the other 2 places looking AMAZING or maybe he just didn't get along with the groomers at Pooch Pawlor? I don't know for sure, but what I DO know is I won't be coming back. Shame. read more

I am extremely particular about who I will allow to cut my dog's hair. In fact I'm so picky that my friends make fun of me! I have two dogs Coco and Ricky and they are by far the cutest dogs in the world. These guys not only did a great job but they've far exceeded my expectations. The owner Jason was extremely nice and after just a few minutes with him I could tell my dogs were in safe hands. We had an 11 o'clock appointment and they were ready for us when we walked in. They were very careful to make sure our dogs were vaccinated and the place was very clean. The staff was extremely friendly and they seem to really like the animals ! Coco's a shih tzu Poodle and her hair gets super long so she's not all that easy to cut. I asked them to do Coco's hair short and round the bottoms of the ears. This might sound like an easy task but 99% of the time the Groomer's can't seem to get it right. When I picked them up she looked perfect (as you can see in the picture I posted). My other dog is a Chihuahua Shiba Inu and his hair is not that long but he sheds horrible so we always give him the shave down. We can tell the difference between a good groomer and a bad groomer by the way the cut fades in when it reaches the back of his neck. These guys did a perfect job and it was as if it was a natural thing. I drove all the way out there from Encino because I heard so many good things and although it's far this is definitely my new go-to place! I trusted other yelpers' reviews and took my pup here for grooming. He came home with cuts all along his back and his ears. The receptionist said because he had been scratching himself. My dog does scratch his back but how can he scratched a perfectly straight line going all the way from head to tail. I wouldn't have been so upset if they would just apologize instead of making excuses. I would never ever take my dog here again. They were very unprofessional for the way they handled the situation. Words of advise for the owner: own up to your mistakes and apologize, customers are more likely to forgive if you are upfront with them. read more

Jason and Tallon Rock- they took my shelter dog at 3:20 on a Sat when they closed at 4. I really needed her groomed and they came thru and stayed open for me. And I am embarrased at how little they charged. They did a great job on a dog that was matted to the skin w/ tons of stickers and foxtails in the mats. They are my new groomers for my dogs and my foster dogs. And if you adopt a shelter dog they give a big discount. I love rescue friendly businesses. read more

I used to love taking my dog here! It was our favorite groomers. However, I was beyond pissed off when the groomer handed my my dog with fear in his eyes over what she had on her belly. Her entire body was infected and it looked as though she came back from a torture camp!!!! She had blotches and bruises everywhere. I honestly thought they had abused her. I took her to the vet immediately and after spending hundreds of dollars they confirmed the infection was due to dirty razors the groomers had used. Its not fair for my dog to have to suffer weeks recovering with the symptoms from her anti inflammatory medication because these groomers were too lazy to clean their razors! Thursday June 11, I called to make an appointment for a bath and haircut. I brought my dog in at 12pm and an hour later the receptionest called and left a voicemail saying the dog was really matted and they had to shave it all off. Which I was ok with becuase when I dropped my dog off they did tell me that was a possibility. I didn't get another call to tell me that my dog is ready to be picked up, and they close at 6pm. I thought they were just running late so by 6:15p I called them and they said "oh yea your dog is ready, didn't we call you?". When I got there before bringing out my dog, the receptionist, Ranier showed me a picture of a cut on my dog's back and attempted to explain to me that he has been scratching or biting his back and they had to clean it up. With further examination of my dog there was another cut on his back towards his neck. Now I don't understand how a dog can reach back in the middle of his back to start scratching/biting his own skin but it seems pretty damn impossible. And there was no explaination for the cut further up his back by his shoulders. Now I understand accidents happen. Maybe the dog was really matted and when the stylist try to buzz it off, it got caught and pulled the skin off with it. Maybe the dog was moving too much, who knows. But I just need you to OWN UP TO IT and APOLOGIZE. And to keep me as a customer may compensate me for your mistakes. I got NOTHING. I got excuses that my dog was biting/scratching his own back. This place over books themselves and the quality of work is horrendous. From 12-6pm, 6 HOURS!!!, and I got back a horrible looking haircut and an injured dog. They also go by Chevy Chase Pet Parlor don't be fooled check address and phone number!! They charge more than they list on their website. He quoted me $40 for a 7lbs dog. Then when I looked at the website it says 0-15lbs short hair $30, long hair $35. So I called back and let him know (incase he heard wrong) that she is 7lbs and short hair and we only need lil trim anyway and remind him that his website states $30 for that. He claims that short hair means for a short haired-Chihuahua (the kind that don't need trimming anyway bc they shed) so that is deceptive as well. It should say $30 w/o trim. So I say ok well even the long hair, which she isn't, is only $35 not $40 and he says, "Well there is additional" I asked what additional ur site says it includes...(all the things I was asking for) he had no strait answer!! I guess the additional means whatever we want to charge u additional. She needed nothing additional and I told him she is less than half the maximum weight listed at these prices, w short hair, clean, and brushed already. He still didn't honor the correct price on the site or even the one for long hair (listed on his site) which I would have compromised on even tho she is short haired! Ah one more thing he told me they should have changed the website but previously he referenced something currently on the website so he either knows its there and tries to get away with customers not calling him out on false pricing or he is negligent and ignorant about his own business! This is the second place I have tried for dog grooming services and this place did FANTASTIC. My dog came out with a fresh trim, smelling great and a really cute bandana on her neck. She was happy and felt refreshed after going here. The staff is EXTREMELY friendly! I was able to call the day of and bring my dog in. They were really busy (it was a Saturday), but they had my dog ready within the 3 hours they told me it would take. The day I went, the Pasadena shelter (i think) was having an adoption fair. Pooch Pawlor was hosting the fair and had dominos pizza, chips, bottled water and a churro stand...all complimentary! Even though I wasn't looking to adopt a dog that day (i was just picking up my pooch), they insisted I take some of the free goodies! Pooch Pawlor gets an A+. Take your dogs here, you won't be disappointed! I will be going here from now on. It's about $10 more expensive then what I would usually pay, but its WELL worth it. Bonus: LOVE the look & feel of the place. Feels like I'm taking my dog to a fancy boutique with the hot pink walls inside. Super cute! read more

They had read my review, and managed to locate my PHONE NUMBER in their system, and call me to discuss the review I'd written. I was polite, and said I'd think about coming back at some point, but after I hung up, I became increasingly angry that they had the nerve to search through their records for "Jaime S," locate me in their system, and call me about the review I'd left. Completely inappropriate and an invasion of privacy. It took me awhile to decide to actually say something, but I think it's important for people to know what they did.
