Tiny hole in the wall place but worth the wait or if you get lucky like we did walk in and you have a spot waiting. Seat yourself sign is so small we didnt see it but we just sat ourselves anyway. Had heard about goetta, just never had it until today. It is delicious. They had a meatloaf special breakfast. Yes meatloaf for breakfast. Some of the best meatloaf you will eat stacked on a piece of toast covered with scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, and cheese. I didnt even care it had ketchup on it. Hate that stuff. I enjoyed my first visit to Poochie's Place for Sunday morning breakfast on 6/4/2017. It had been recommended by a neighbor. It's not upscale or fancy, but definitely a nice neighborhood limited hours restaurant offering good food - at least in my judgment from this single observation. It's reputation must be effectively established because, although I walked in and sat down immediately, the place was packed. Seating capacity - at tables and booths - is about 50 by my count. The building is a repurposed KFC restaurant which had been operated by the current management's family. The wait staff was courteous and efficient, and my order of two blueberry pancakes, an over easy egg and (Glier's) goetta was served in a reasonable time, even quickly, considering the number of diners. A word about the pancakes: they are HUGE. A single pancake would have been enough. I normally finish everything on my plate, and many times I'll finish a companion's meal, as well. (Sorry if my habit offends your sense of hygiene or etiquette, but it's my habit and pertinent here.) Also, my coffee cup was never empty. That's a challenge many restaurants - even some $$$$$ - fail. I'll be back to Poochie's Place again. No doubt. read more

I wasn't going to rate this place but because of the food I will. Food is great but service and employees are not. I experienced a child running a muck while his mom was serving YOUR customers. Also an employee berating another employee. First of all, this isn't a healthy environment for your employees and dangerous to have someones child running around a restaurant.This isnt the place I will be taking my family and I will surely tell others to not eat here either. It won't seem like anything special. Just an average diner with a completely predictable breakfast and lunch menu, and items from food service delivery companies that you have had a hundred times. But it's clean, quick and they have never messed up anyone's order that I've been with. The food is hot, it's ample, and it's priced right where you would expect. I came in with my two kids. It took almost an hour to get our food, and it was cold. My waffle was burnt. The place was filled to the brim, there was no way that was 30% capacity. The workers were wearing masks under their noses, which is extremely ineffective. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Do Not Go Here. Me and my husband have lived in east Cincinnati for a few years now and have been wanting to try this place. We ate there today for the first time and were very unimpressed especially with the amount of raving reviews this place has. The decor, well the Americana decor was a bit much. I am not sure if it was because it was Memorial day but American flags lined the front of the building. There was an American flag on each table and on the walls was red white and blue decor. And also on the edge near the windows was more American decor. Also most of the employees were wearing red, white and blue American pride shirts. I enjoy America too... I felt it was a bit excessive though. Being a liberal, I felt a bit odd in the restaurant. The clientele seemed like it was mostly a regular stop for older people. It was busy and quite loud. When we entered the restaurant there was an older man that shouted to us 'Welcome'. He wasn't an employee, he was just a guy sitting at one of the tables. It felt a bit odd to me. Kind of made the atmosphere a bit jarring when every few minutes you heard a shout of 'Welcome!' and he also said, 'Goodbye' to people as they were walking out the door. You could hear him over everyone else talking. It didn't really make for a peaceful atmosphere. He was there the whole time we were there. The food. I ordered home fries which were seasoned well but kinda greasy. But the sausage, egg and cheese croissant sandwich wasn't good. The croissant bread itself was okay but inside was paper thin egg. I'm talking super super thin. A single square slice of processed cheese and a two by two circular piece of sausage patty. Which for the large croissant and large paper thin egg, the sausage looked tiny. I tried breaking up the sausage patty but the sandwich kept falling apart. My husband ordered pancakes which he said were okay but nothing special. Same with the eggs and bacon he ordered. We will not be returning. read more

I love little family owned restaurants and this may be the best ever. I peeked at what other people were ordering and the food looked like something from a cooking show. Service was excellent, something I watch for when I eat alone. It was a Sunday around 1:00 and was packed - people were still getting breakfast. I think that's what they're known for. Goetta! We both love Goetta and the way they prepare it here. Another reason for liking this place is that you can order breakfast ala carte. And the Over Medium Eggs come actually over medium. Hot tea comes with an extra tea bag and extra hot water from the start. Little things mean a lot! Definitely our favorite breakfast place in the greater Cincinnati area. Besides the good food and the conscientious cooks, the wait staff is on top of their game. We particularly like to come mid-morning during the week. Just before Christmas I was visiting OH to enjoy some of the holiday lights displays. Looking for somewhere to have breakfast, I found Poochie's Place on Yelp. The place was packed, but it didn't take long for a table to be cleared, and once seated the waitress was very attentive. I asked her for a recommendation. "Ever tried Goetta?", she inquired. Tried it? I've never even heard of it! She brought me a sample. I did like it, but there were other enticing items that she had also suggested, so I opted for something else. The food was prompt, hot and delicious. I am sorry I do not remember this lovely lady's name, because she deserves to be mentioned. She was very pleasant, cheerfully taking care of a lot of people, and went out of her way to make sure that not only were everyone's dining needs being met, we were all enjoying our experience. In addition to her great service, she told me about a holiday light show that was new to the area and not on my list; the lights display at Coney Island. I hope she sees this review, so I can say thanks for your great service, and thanks for the recommendation! :) The Coney Island light show may have been my favorite of all those I visited. It's that kind of friendliness, neighborliness and personalized attention that is often missing from places these days, and is definitely something I appreciate and value. Because of the snow storm that hit MI that night, I did not head home as originally planned and stayed in OH another night. I returned to the same hotel - not just because it was a nice place to stay, but because it was near Poochie's Place. I visited again for breakfast the next day :D read more
