When Poochie's Place made its initial appearance down the street from us in the remnants of an unassuming KFC, my wife and I were unsure what to make of it. The name "Poochie's Place" doesn't exactly infer a certain sort of business. It turned out to be a small breakfast/lunch diner, and a pretty dang good one at that. A greasy spoon joint in the best possible way. My wife and I have become somewhat regulars, enough so that "Poochie," the purveyor of the location, recognizes us and greets us warmly when we stop in. We frequent Poochie's for breakfast. It is always fast, delicious, filling and affordable. Here are a couple of pics, French Toast w/Strawberries, Blueberry Pancakes, and a Goetta breakfast, complete with two egss, hash browns and two slices of toast. Usually for the two of us, which would include two very filling breakfasts and two cups of coffee, the bill runs about $15 pre-tip. Pretty reasonable, I'd say. While I do agree the above burger from the earlier review looks pretty paltry, my wife and I have never been there for lunch so I can't really speak on their lunch options. However, I would definitely recommend it for a friendly, filling breakfast location. read more

This restaurant boasts a unique atmosphere with a main dining area of many tables and booths close together. It is a busy environment and I wouldn't come here if I wanted a private conversation as the tables are too close and people will definitely overhear. Poochies is an independent restaurant that needs carry out support in these tough times. We go through their drive thru around once a week. Food has been consistently good. Sandwiches, salads, breakfast items remain excellent. Really good burger and BLT. The only downer was the chicken salad. Too sweet and too much mayo. Went to Poochie's. today with our son, I have never been there before. The place is small but nice has booths and tables set up. I ordered the half biscuits and gravy and shared some hash browns with my husband, was very good biscuits tender with lots of gravy. My hubby got the same, said it was very good. I have been here twice for breakfast, once for lunch. This place gets busy very quickly and isn't large so go early or off hours to get a seat. Wow, I mean WOW! This is a little mom and pop breakfast stop, that definitely is worth going to. I work just down the street and drive by this all the time, but today I was really craving breakfast food so I decided to try carry out. They have a drive-thru window to make it super easy to order carry out which I really appreciated especially since I was rushing on my lunch break. I got an omelet with cheese, ham, and mushrooms which comes with hash browns (or home fries), bread (the cinnamon raisin was great) and a side of goetta. The Goetta I kid you not is the best I've ever had. And I'm picky about my Goetta! The hashbrowns were perfect too, often when I get them at breakfast places they're too salty, but they were seasoned just right. I also really, really liked the omelette, it wasn't overly stuffed or too rich with cheese. I Love this place, it definitely exceeded my expectations. I tried this place purely based off peer reviews. While it's good, I think it is a bit on the expensive side, and while the food is good, it's not "great." The sausage gravy and biscuit for instance: biscuit is dry, the sausage gravy lacks flavor--kind of like it's country gravy with sausage. Again, not bad but different from my expectations when I walked through the door of a breakfast/brunch establishment. I also ordered chocolate chip pancakes. Two, instead of three. They were enormous and good. Not only big in diameter, but are right around 3/8" thick. And dense. My 4 and 7 year olds would need to share one pancake. Goetta and eggs. What can I say, can't screw this dish up, right? Well hold on, 99.9% of anyone that orders Goetta and eggs expects toast on the side. Especially when there's a tray of grape and strawberry jam on the table. The temperature of the building was kinda cool. This doesn't bother me, but with so much food to eat, everything ended up cold. Overall, it's a decent place to get breakfast. The sausage gravy is subpar compared to McDonald's or Bob Evans, and definitely subpar homemade. The facility is clean, as was the bathroom. read more
