I'd never been here before. While buying chlorine tablets at Lowes, a man who was also buying pool chemicals told me to shop at Pool Kingdom. I was telling him how I had drained my pool a few months back and it was already showing signs of algae. Told him the pool supply place (previous review) I was going to told me my chemicals were good per their in-store water test. He shared with me that that particular pool supply company will take all your money real fast. So, Pool Kingdom. Told them of my situation. "Have you put water conditioner in your pool?" Nope. Other place said I dont need it yet. Pool Kingdom tells me you put the water conditioner in WHILE the pool is filling. Bought 2 buckets of water conditioner. $40. Asked if they service filters. Yup. $100. Guy came out, checked the filter, took it all apart to check for rips or tears on any of the grids. No rips or tears so no need for new grids BUT there was a crack in the manifold. (new manifold on eBay is under $100). He fixed it all up. Flipped the filter switch and no DE shot into the pool. So as of today, Pool Kingdom is my go-to pool supply store and my pool has sparkling, crystal clear water and I dont worry about the dogs being let out. If I would have followed to advice of Leslie's, I'd be out over $400, have a green pool and still have DE going from filter to pool. read more

The metal belt that holds my pool filter housing together got messed up. The screw wouldn't go into the hole so I couldn't even screw it on. Called Leslie's and was told over the phone I'll likely have to order a whole new belt (about $400-$500) and because of delayed shipments and supplies, I wouldn't get it for months. I took it to Pool Kingdom and he was able to shave down the belt loop part of it so the screw goes in appropriately. Told me it would be $10 and ready in an hour. Pool was not regularly serviced and turned green resulting in a huge mosquito problem. When I called the first time I was told the owner forgot to order chlorine. The next time they didn't come out they said the guy that does my pool quit. No phone call or anything. They just didn't show up, They then came out and dumped a bunch of chemicals in and said to run the pump for a few hours and they would be back on Monday. Well it's Monday and no one came again and the pool is turning green yet again. read more

We were a customer of Pool Kingdom's for almost four years. During that time I don't think they tested our pool's chemicals once. The guy shows up, puts in chemicals, 2 minutes later he leaves. These last two summers we had algae problems in our pool. PK did not seem to notice - same 'ol routine. We had our neighbor's pool guy come in, and within a few of his treatments our pool was clean. We ended up draining our pool because it was out of whack, and updating our pool sweep. In a nutshell: Pool Kingdom did not cause problems, but they certainly don't solve them. read more

We bought a house with a swimming pool, and it turned out to be like a sieve, there were leaks in 10 places. We contacted Pool Kingdom. The guys offered a free visit of a specialist. A really specialist came, not a simple manager. He offered us to completely renovate the entire pool. We thought that no one would have done such work, we did not believe it. The problem was that the room was in a fine finish, it was scary to ruin everything, but the guys built a dome over the pool. We did it. Thank you so much for the quality and professional work. I have a clogged main drain and I called and asked for Someone to come out and unclog my main drain, Rachel told me it would be a total of $74 to blow out my main drain with CO2 and that the earliest she could send someone would be Tuesday 6-28. Well I made the appointment and took the day off so I could get my pool fixed. I never received a confirmation phone call so I called them at 10:00 to find out where they are and when they're coming, and was told they don't blow out main drains, but the lady would call me back... Rachel called me back on a private caller ID to rudely tell me,"we don't do main drains!" And I said but I set the appointment, took the day off from work, and you told me you did. She just repeated herself rudely,"We don't do main drains." I asked her,"So is that it?" She said,"yep!" So here I am, off from work hoping to get my pool fixed and they cancelled on me. Rachel isn't even nice about it or doesn't have a care in the world about the mess she put me in... J&S pools was going to do it for me but they were more expensive, so now I guess I'll just call them back with my tail between my legs and set another appointment with someone who has the confidence and abilities to fix pools. We needed a part for our hoses for our very large above ground pool. We bought a new Krystal Klear large pump and the hoses it came with are bigger than what we have. We first went to Leslie's- they were super friendly and helpful and knew exactly what we needed but they said they didn't have a lot of parts for above ground pools that we should go to Pool Kingdom that they deal in all the above ground pool stuff. So we drove clear across town and we walked in, said hello to the man at the counter and started looking around. The inside was very unorganized so we started just looking here and there. A friendly older man asked what we needed help with. I told him we needed a hose conversion because of this new pump we bought. I mentioned the brand of the pump and the younger man at the counter (who was helping a line of customers) over heard me and loudly yelled across the store, "We don't carry anything for Intex, Bestway or any of those other cheap ass pools. Don't bother looking." He said it incredibly rude and before I could say anything back the older man who was helping us looked at us apologetically and said he knew exactly what would fix our issue. We wound up not buying anything due to the other mans behavior. I didn't know if it was because he's just normally a jerk to everyone or if he doesn't like lesbians but I will never set foot in that store again. read more

Been using Pool Kingdom for years. Purchased new pumps, new filters, (yes plural) and could rely on there services. Suddenly we can't get them to show. Twice they were no shows. Called and got the "oh, our service guy didn't show today." I understand things happen and rescheduling is sometimes unavoidable, but not even a courtesy call to reschedule? My appointment was for 3:00pm and the employee hadn't shown all day? I would have appreciated a call and I would have happily rescheduled. There will not be a third no show. Sadly, time to move on. Advise - please keep in mind your loyal customers take time from there jobs or other important event to assure you have access to the pool and equipment. Leaving customers hanging will force them to move to other companies as I have. Your services and products are not exclusive to just you. J&S will get the next try. read more

In reading the other reviews I wish I had spoke with Rachel. Unfortunately every time I've gone there to purchase products or call to get my pool serviced I get the "Grumpy Guy". Called today because my pump is leaking water trying to get a technician scheduled and grumpy guy says I'm busy I will call you back. Apparently it's code for your not that important and I never got a call back. Unfortunately this is the second time grumpy guy has not called me back. Too bad because when the technicians have come out to work on my pool they have been very helpful. I hope grumpy guy is either part owner or a relative of the owner because he just lost this customer. read more

I am not an expert in pools. That's why I take pictures of what I need replaced and I go to someone that should know the name of the parts. And where to get them. So I come in with pictures and they tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. No kidding. That's why I'm coming to them. Then they proceed to criticize my pump system telling me that it's a bunch of no-name parts put together and that I need a better system. So in the end. They can't help me. What a waste of time. They could have retained a new customer. Instead, they get a bad review. I'm off to Leslie's to see if they can help. read more

Used to be ok but lately they have been late and somerimes didn't even show up. Not responsive to feedback. Called multiple times and couldn't get a call back. I got so fed up that I finally I got another firm to come check and they had to clean my filter less than a month from when pool kingdom claimed they had cleaned it... The new service also found algea in the pool that pool kingdom didn't even notice. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone. If you want dependable service look elsewhere. read more

Super helpful and knowledgeable people. Took my pool pump in for what I thought was replacement. After working on it for a day they fixed my pump and it still works great. $35 dollar fix instead of buying a new $500 pump. Awesome people. I've been shopping at Pool Kingdom for my chemicals and getting my vacuum repaired by them for many years now. Always been happy with the service and price until this past year. The older gentleman who I think is the owner has always been fantastic at service. This past year+, everything has gone downhill in my opinion. The first instance was when they took 2 weeks to repair my vaccum (usually just takes a day or two, 4-5 days at the most). After calling regularly the first week to check on the progress, I was told that they would no doubt call when it was ready. Then I still hadn't heard for another week and called them again, and the guy on the phone said, "yeah, it's been ready for several days now." Prices on the chemicals I buy have increased by 20% this year. I used to go to Pool Kingdom because they had better prices and were a local biz compared to Leslie's. Now the prices are exactly the same. And the local "feel" is gone. The service, while seemingly friendly, is crap. They are not looking out for your best interest. I went in this last time to buy chlorine. The guy sold me a dusty, old container of granular chlorine with a nasty stain on top. I mentioned it didn't look like the normal stuff I buy, and he confirmed that this was "the good stuff." I get home, and the chlorine is all cakey inside. It's stuck to the scoop, and clumpy. I had to inhale chlorine for a minute just to clean the scoop out. It was awful. When I threw it in the pool, it barely broke up. Good stuff? I'm never shopping at pool kingdom again. You'd be better off if you didn't either. They've lost their integrity. It's become more about numbers that it has about people. read more

As a store, has what you need at affordable price. As for pool service? What a goddam joke they are. My pool needed to be fully cleaned then be maintained thereafter. Looks the same, which is horrible. No pool that is supposed to be receiving service should have green and black algae EVERYWHERE. Some places half an inch thick! They also have never responded to any of my emails. I thought as a small little business they would value their costumers more. Was sold nothing but lies and excuses. Attempting to get this company to help clean and service our pool was a horrible experience. I spoke to the same office person (a male) 3 times and each time he was rude and demeaning. I am not sure if it's because I am female or not. They did not seem to be as rude to my husband when he spoke to them twice. They kept telling us they would send the technician. No one ever showed up. They finally gave us a specific day and then told us their worker called in sick that day. At that point, we gave up and went with someone else who has been amazing! I have purchased many variable speed pumps for my customers, and she always gets the job done right. I just purchased a house and upgraded to the super efficient pentair. Scheduled me the next day and got it handled. So I'm hoping get she can help me get my pool serviced, but I hear they are backed up and not taking any new clients, good problem to have. We have been using this company for years to service our pool and buy new equipment, etc. They are the only company knowledgeable and willing to install liners in our in ground vinyl pool (which are more unusual here in California). We really appreciate their great customer service (Rachel is always awesome and works with us whenever we need it). There have been occasional difficulties with new guys coming out to service our pool and not cleaning it well or taking the time to scrub, etc., but they will send them back out if that is the case. We are very happy with Pool Kingdom and will be using them for years to come. read more

This place is by far the best pool store in town. Their prices on chemicals are unbeatable. I haven't even found chemicals at big box stores any cheaper! The people that work here are super nice, they help you get what you need but will be the first ones to tell you not to buy something if you don't need it unlike some other stores in town. They even have a little mini pool out front so you can bring your pool sweep in and they'll hook it up to their pump and see what's going wrong.
