I knew if she could make a cake that I normally despised, that I now loved, then I knew she had to be one of the BEST at her other goodies! Her carrot cake was not artificial sweet tasting, and did not have grainy bits of carrot in it, and it was not overly sweet either, it tasted more like a spice cake with all the natural flavor of carrot, smooth, dense, not a sweet icing, and heavenly made to perfection. Her "Coconut Dream Cake" is well named! The Coconut Cake icing is not sweet, and decorated with cream cheese, and nothing short of pure JOY to consume! For the holidays I love to prepare my own food layout for family and friends to eat. Unfortantely over the years I never enjoyed preparing deorated cookies for special occasions, but still wanted decorated cookies to complete my layout. Suzka's speciality decorated cookies made the Holiday occasions so much less stressful for me and at request she can specialize a cookie design, she'll let you know if she can or not, and she is spot on with all the cookie designs I've requested before! I have never found anyone who can bake desserts like Suzka that taste HOME-MADE. We were here from out of town for a soccer tournament and stopped in on a whim as I wanted something sweet. The owner was so lovely and said they'd been in biz for 10 years and I can see why. We bought 2 sugar cookies and my 11 yo (an expert in sugar cookies) said it was a 6 out of 5 - best sugar cookie ever! The other one we bought bc it looked like my husband who was not with us. We also got a pb cookie and brownie and though I bought those for the rest of our family who are not traveling with us they may not make it home. Now I'm hoping they are open again tomorrow. My mom ordered cupcakes for my little sister's birthday from this business. The agreement was to pickup the cupcakes at 4pm, our choice due to needing to make an event by 6pm for my little sister's 14th birthday. We arrived inside of the store on time and noticed that the woman who runs the store was dealing with a frustrated customer. The customer proceeded to ask us (my mom and I) how do we feel about the cake that was prepared for a relative's 50th. We said it looked nice. However, there were water stains that destroyed the overall photo that was printed for the cake. She requested a re-print from the worker/woman and we waited for about 10 minutes then asked how long before our cupcakes were ready. She stated "about 10 more minutes" then she proceed to yell to another worker in the back. I'm unsure what was said because I don't understand Spanish that well. A few moments later, the cupcakes were made. ** We requested pink cupcakes with glitter in the shape of an L. Super cute! However, once we served the cupcakes to the guests at the event.. we noticed the disappointment on everyone's faces. Including mine. I describe the taste as cardboard and another guest described it as metal. The taste was awful. My little sister was so embarrassed on her 14th birthday! My mom returned the box of cupcakes with no request of a refund, only a complaint. We wanted them to know they tasted awful and we wanted them to dispose of them so they could see they were not enjoyed. Their excuse was that "pink icing tastes like that and it was the glitter".. either way, there was no resolve. Very sad because this place came highly recommended and I believe they successfully did cake in the past. FYI, the cake portion of the cupcake was so good and moist but the icing destroyed the entire cupcake. We hoped for resolve but I guess we wasted money. Honest review. Hopefully, they can rectify this issue!
