First off, this food was delivered to me in Morgan Hill, so I cannot vouch or comment on the many in-house experiences listed (most very bad). I will say among the three locations (including this one) that I've ordered from (Watsonville and San Carlos the other two), this first hit topped them all. The food (chicken only 4pc BOGO) was well cooked, hot (fast driver) and, there were actually 4 pieces in each box, an edible (no-rocklike) biscuit in each, plus, plenty of the condiments; "honey," ketchup, and for the first time, hotsauce! Oh yeah, napkins too! That's something so far neither of the two have accomplished consistently or satisfactorily. I will hope for the best the next time and will update. This place is DISGUSTING and I'll be reporting them for cleanliness. We went to get a drink and ants POURED out of the ice machine- then from standing near it I was covered. We got the manager, who at first refused to even come to the other side of the counter (as they do not interact w customers and just keep pointing to the kiosk)... she then said "I'll get you a drink from the back" - continued to let other customers stand around the infested area and get drinks- they were then covered as well and people eatting in the restaurant then checked their drinks- they had been drinking the Popeyes ants- gross! I spent 10 min finding random ants on me. The fact that she didn't clean up the ants, put an out of service sign and block off the entire area is MIND BOGGLING. I was getting service on my vehicle yesterday and found myself a little hungry. There were many places to choose from and I chose Popeyes out of all of them. I happen to order a 4 piece combo with red beans and rice. It consisted of 2 drumsticks very salty, a thigh no flavor the wing was the best piece of the batch. The place was relatively clean but I couldn't wait to watch the TV but glare impeded my viewing they should invest in a swivel wall mount. I probably will never patronize this particular establishment again. read more

The food was great! We got our order in less than 5 minutes. However, the overall service was less than stellar. We got there around 6:15, when most restaurants have several people inside, and there was no one inside other than the employees. When we walked in, there was A LOT of horseplay going on behind the counter, and it took a couple of minutes for them to realize there was someone waiting at the counter to order. The young man seemed annoyed that we interrupted their play time when he took our order. I'm not sure if the manager was involved in the horseplay, but he didn't do anything to stop it, as it continued well into half of our time inside the restaurant (about 20 minutes). Things finally got quiet a few minutes before we left, when more people started to come in. ALL of the employees need customer service training, including management. I've seen several other reviews that span over the course of a year regarding the Gilroy Popeye's, and I'm not the first to comment on the unprofessional behavior. I pulled into the handicap parking because my father is wheelchair bound, there was Popeyes trash all over the pavement, I mean like open sauce containers. It was like trying to navigate a minefield, "and the trash can was literally 5 feet away" some people are just disrespectful PIGS!!! I don't blame Popeyes completely but they are also responsible to make sure their parking area is clean. To be fair the inside was clean. To order you have to use a kiosk. "Not this guy", I don't use kiosk and I pay in cash. " also how can you get a senior citizen discount at a kiosk? " So I called out to the kitchen and an employee took our order. I ordered a spicy chicken sando "which on a level of 1 being no spice what so ever and a 10 being " reaper hot" was a 1.5 "that's one point five" at best, so disappointed. The side orders of Mac and cheese were super oily, fries lukewarm at best. They package? Everything is packaged to go even if you say you're dining in?!? Seriously how wasteful can you get..... well let me fill you in!!! 1st the put your sando in a wrapper style container then they put that in a paper bag.... But wait there's more then they take that and put it inside a plastic bag!!!! Are you kidding me right now?!! We ended up with 10lbs of land fill waste!! I waited for 25 minutes for my pickup order which said "in progress" on the screen from the moment I walked in. Thinking that was completely ridiculous, I finally asked about my order and it was ready. When I asked why it had just been sitting there I was told "you have to ask." Why would I ask when I giant screen says it's still in f**king progress? On top of that there was no toilet paper in the women's restroom, no ice in the soda machine, and my pregnant wife nearly fell when she slipped on a wet spot near the front door. This place is completely sucked. On 5/5/25 I got really hungry coming into Gilroy on the freeway. I pulled over to see if there was a Popeyes in the area. There was. This was it. I walked in at approx 5:15-5:20 pm. I stood the counter waiting to be acknowledged. Young lady was behind the counter kept looking around looking at me as though she was afraid that I might want to order something. She finally asked me. Did you want something? I simply responded. Popeyes is my favorite fast food chicken, but today's experience with the mandatory order through their kiosk does not work, and the same problem with ordering through their app. I want dark meat only and there's no way to let them know. I don't want the biscuits and no way to let them know, I just throw them away instead. Order came with the wrong size cup for my drink. I had to go back and ask for a straw and a second time for some napkins. Please let me order at the register or make the kiosk and app have options for my order. No, I'll not be going to KFC but I'll not be going back to Popeyes as soon with their mandatory kiosks for ordering. Also I tried their www.tellpopeyes.com but my receipt doesn't match any of their examples so there's no way to give them feedback or get any free food for trying. read more

We should have read the reviews prior to entering this dump! Food gouging indeed! What you order in the Kiosk has nothing to do with what you get 20 minutes later! The service is just awful: young kids that do not know what they are doing and look at the customer with vacant eyes and clearly do not give a damn! The Kiosk charged us 20 cents extra for a diet Ginger Ale which was not available in their drink machine. When my wife asked about that they told her "we cannot help you with that because the Kiosk is not what we have available." When I asked to talk to the manager they looked distraught and she repeated the same answers with the same attitude. All that poor service for a sandwich costing over 18.00! Please do not patronize this poorly run business; I know I will not step in another Popeye ever! I would give this joint a -5 rating if I could. If you want fast food chicken and in South County Popeyes if the go to place. With the hype around the chicken sandwich I feel the quality has suffered. I would still recommend Popeyes over KFC if you are ordering just chicken. I can't deduct stars for the wait since all the employees were moving no one was waiting around idle when I visited this location. We love Popeyes, and visit this one fairy often. The service has always been questionable, before and after they installed the new ordering kiosks. Staff routinely ignore those of us waiting to order. Now there are big signs in front of the 2 cash registers telling us we all must use the kiosks to order, then pay at the counter. After wasting time at the kiosk trying to find a way to order the specific pieces of chicken you want, we realize there is no way to do it. (Very poor design there!) So we go to the counter to be glared at by staff and told to use the kiosk. I tried to explain why that wasn't possible, and she ignored me. I just stood there till she decided I wasn't leaving. I explained, I wanted 2 thighs, she told me to just enter 2 dark pieces, then come to the counter to pay and explain what I actually wanted. I asked how anyone was supposed to know to do that, or that it would be the correct price. She just scowled. She finally asked if I would just rather order at the counter, I gave her a fake smile and said yes. I reached to hand her my card and she refused, pointed at the big sign on the counter that tells us all we now must use the kiosk. I was confused, seeing no scanner. She pointed again, so annoyed with me. Finally I looked behind the big sign, seeing the scanner. It was too high for me to reach over to the scanner, no place to move it out of my way. I still can't believe how ridiculous this all was! I told her there was no way I could reach it. She then agreed to scan it herself. Everyone must pay at the counter. Both card scanners are blocked by the signs. So thought this was a good idea? I guess because the food is good, management does not care about how we customers are treated, we come anyway. read more

I have always loved Popeyes Chicken, but my recent drive through and food received was terrible. The entry closed at 8:pm (App says open till 9:pm)and I had to use drive through. I ordered the 10 piece Chicken and I receive mostly small wings and One Breast. It was Luke warm at best and the Rice and Beans were Luke warm and obviously made in the early part of the day. Went a few days ago and the drive-thru girl was rude and gave me attitude. I work in customer service as well and so I sympathize with workers by being respectful and understanding if they are out of items or if there is a wait time. To be rude after I was unable to understand what was being said and respectfully asked her to repeat herself is unacceptable. Ordered the food through the website and it didn't have the classic chicken sandwich option. It only offered the blackened chicken sandwich. The service was quick. Was able to pick up my order within 10 minutes. The weird thing is that they had the classic chicken sandwich if you order in person. The restaurant is clean. I've been to this location for here times since it has opened. The service is horrendous. The cashiers/order takers are always rude. Since COVID they are pretty busy... and are even ruder. The drive thru line is always long. They have had issues with accepting credit cards and/or cash. Which is very frustrating... They post these paper signs on the drive through menu and when you get to the window it is some thing else. We came here for lunch after a long afternoon and even though the restaurant was busy inside, we found a clean table. My son and I ordered a 6-piece wing combo and the wings were AMAZING! They had a lot of meat on each piece and the flavors (Honey BBQ and Roasted Garlic Parmesan) tasted great! My daughter ordered the 2-piece chicken combo meal and enjoyed it. Went to popeyes tonight 4/11/2020 trying to give them another chance but NOPE. My husband made an online order at 835PM for drive thru pick up since the covid-19 situation. We get there and there was about 7 or so cars in front of us. We waited about 15 minutes and then seen 2 employees come out and put cones up from the 2 nd car in front of us. The employee told the first car something, and they ended up pulling away. Then went to the second car, and when they finally approached us, they told us that they were shutting down early and that they were not taking anymore orders. I told the young man that's fine but we have a pick up order that's already paid for. He was like oh you can just cancel the order on the app. I was like no there's no option for that. So he told is to park and he'll go talk to the manger. We waited another 10 minutes but seen that another customer had pulled up and went thru the cones at the drive thru. The employee from popeyes pop out and went to the car who was in the drive thru and told them something but instead of the car backing out of the line she let the guy stay. She was then trying to avoid contact with us waiting on her and the other guy to talk to the manger about the already paid online order. We honked at her and she approached. She said that he manger is canceling all online orders and that we would get refunded. My husband asked her how is that when they dont have my name, amount of what I paid etc. She then looked like oh yeah. She said she'll go talk to her manager. She came back and asked what the name on the order was and how much, then left again. Once again had to wait another 25 minutes. During this time they kept looking out yo see if we were still parked outside. So I called the store and no one picked up. Waited 5 minutes then called again. Finally someone answered which happen to be the young guy who told us to park and he'll go talk to the manger. He states that his manager was having trouble finding/refunding the order. I said I know because you have to have the card in order to do a refund. Do you want the credit card so you can do the refund. He then said oh yeah let me ask the manger. I guess he forgot to press hold cause he said they are still outside and want their refund. I assume that the lady who yelled at him," okay fine just give it to them", was the manger. After I said wow the phone went silent. The young man then comes back pm the phone and said that the manger okayed him to come get the credit card and do the refund. I was like okay. So he came out got my husband credit card and I had to remind him that we needed a receipt to show the refund. He was like oh yeah no problem. After another 5 to 10 minutes the young man returned with my husband's credit card and receipt in hand. With the receipt not even showing the last 4 numbers on the credit card that it was refunded to. Luckily we have identity theft/alerts on that credit card because it should not have taken that long for a refund. Long story short popeyes in gilroy is not the place to go. At least I wont be going or trying to give them another chance anymore. read more
