I've been to this location half a dozen times, and have yet to be helped within five minutes of arriving (even with no line), or by someone who knows how to work the register. I replied with "Okay, I'll need a couple seconds to pick something else" at which point the cashier (her name was 'Angel' ironically) rolled her eyes at me, hit the register, and then walked away without saying a word. I've only been to Popeye's five or six times, so I stood outside and studied the menu through the window to make sure I knew what I wanted and would not hold up the line. Although on Christmas there was no line, I was the only person in the lobby. I told the Hispanic guy behind the counter that I'd like a number 13 dinner with fries and a chicken breast. Popeye's offers COMBOS which include a drink, side, and biscuit; and DINNERS which include a side and biscuit. I saw $2.99 for the chicken breast on the register and didn't notice that I was charged for the combo, not the dinner. When dude put a drink cup on the counter, I realized I'd been charged for the combo. I said I didn't want a drink, dude said OK. At this point he should have refunded me a dollar. He asked if I wanted any sauce, I asked for cocktail sauce (number 13 is the butterfly shrimp, which are very good.) He told me he was waiting for the fries. That's good, keeping the customer posted about the progress. When I got home I noticed that he'd given me buffalo sauce instead of cocktail sauce. Luckily I like buffalo sauce. He handed me my bag of food to go and still hadn't offered to correct the $1 overcharge. So I told him "you charged me $1 extra for a drink i didn't want." Despite the fact that Popeye's is already overpriced, I didn't care about the $1 and didn't want to go through whatever ordeal was required to void a transaction and issue a $1 credit or whatever so I just left. KFC has larger chicken breasts and lower prices anyway so I think I'm done with Popeye's. I've been to five of their Portland area stores and it's usually the same at each one, good food with some kind of problem during what should be a simple transaction. read more

Well that was a disappointment. I've been enduring those Popeyes commercials where the lady asks do you want a fish patty on a squishy bun or butterfly shrimp fried and a biscuit for only $4.99. I'm here to tell you yes I did pay $4.99 and I did get shrimp fried and a biscuit. What I didn't get was Cajun butterfly shrimp. This was very plain fried shrimp with zero seasoning. The fries were soft though well seasoned. The roll was the best thing. Love the biscuits! But still it doesn't make up for the blah shrimp. read more

12 years ago if you wanted good fried chicken you would have to go down to MLK for Popeyes but anyone that knew anything about Popeyes knew you had to go to the MLK North location across the street from the Safeway because it was just better chicken. Fast forward to our present time Popeyes has become a familiar name in the Portland metro area with multiple locations to serve you from Truck Stops to well placed locations so you are never too far away from a good box of chicken! I don't know whether its my age or possibly a loss in taste buds but it does appear a lot of these Popeyes locations are now fairly uniformed in the products they put out now. I come to this particular location and even though its out way east in Gresham its still good chicken in the middle of the night! The people are fairly friendly here and I always get my food to go and notice that they always have my order correct or towards my advantage. No complaints here if I get an extra breast instead of a thigh! Being a aficionado of fine fried chicken products I highly recommend this location if you're way out east much like myself and don't want to make the trek to MLK. Rude and slow service. The food was good not their best. Safety precautions could be better. The lines was long and out into the street.

Businesses are smart to issue coupons to encourage customers to try them out. I got a sheet of coupons from Popeyes in the mail, so I tried their location closest to me, the one in Gresham. When I got there, it was pretty busy with several people already in line at the counter waiting to order. I see that as a good sign because, if a place is popular, it likely means that the food is good. I do like fried chicken, but I don't like messing around with all the bones (especially when watching a game on TV), so I got chicken tenders to go. They are the perfect non-messy finger food. I was very pleased with what I got. They were made fresh, and the "mild" option (they also have "spicy" and "blackened") was just right for me. "Mild" had just enough seasoning for a gentle and pleasant spiciness. The batter coating is perfect, giving each piece of chicken the right amount of crunch. I'll be back. I went through the drive thru. It took half an hour to make it to the window. At which point I was told my order wasn't ready and that I should park and they would bring it out. I waited half an hour before going into the restaurant. Upon entering, I see a place for mobile pickup and an order that looks like it could be mine, while trying to determine if it is intact my order, a girl starts to be very rude and yelling. I'm obviously upset about how this experience is gone and yell back. A second employee starts yelling that i need to leave. I yell back about wanting what I paid for. The first employee finally makes my missing drink and tells me to "have a beaitiful fucking day". While waiting for the drink, a second employee decides to get in on the fun and baidcally justifies my wait since they are busy, the printer isn't working, and they forgot. She also tells me I don't have a right to yell at them and calls me a karen, even though they literally all started yelling at me. When I got home, I was missing all sauces and a biscuit and both sandwiches were made incorrectly. The google listing for this location is full of horrible reviews. But this particular Popeyes location in gresham has let me down not once not twice but five --yes at least five times --in the past year or less . It's not the food the food is as expected , but the drive through window cannot get the order right , I am not kidding every. Single. Time . Something is missing from our order . I guess the jokes on me , as after the second or third time I should take the time to go through my bag and make sure they have it right , but I hate being that person in the drive up window. And would like to think the other 5 times were just oversights ... This last time ( yesterday ) they neglected to give us our biscuits with our meal order, Ugh !
