Simply the food on this one. Very satisfied with the crispy and tasty chicken. This one took until the end of the week to write but still I ordered for my lunch and brought home a second meal for my son. He appreciated it and commented about the spicy tasty Popeyes and started comparing the competition around. Its that good. A word of advice to the ones that served me this week, I know you are busy during the lunch hour, but blunt and bold directive service isn't always the best approach as people hold on to that as less than awesome customer service. I wasn't and would never seek a free meal. I was willing to pay for the 2nd biscuit as i requested for my son also. It did not matter to me that it wasn't part of the 3 bone in special for 6.99. This place was really good when they first opened, but it wasn't long after their opening that they just disappoint me every time I come here. Today I got chicken that tasted old and they forgot my biscuits. .. Their biscuits and mac & cheese are the best things ,here so when my biscuits were missing and I live too far to drive back for two biscuits I was very disappointed.. Customer service at this location is terrible. Takes forever for someone to notice a customer standing at the counter inside, they also have to unlock the restroom now which takes getting an employee with a key (the keypad on the restroom door doesn't work). Only saving grace is the food is decent but still only 1 star worthy. read more

Popeyes is one of my favorite chicken fast-food and I'm so happy they have it here. Tonight I wanted to do a little review, the French fries were so fresh and crispy, and it was my first time trying the 6 boneless Parmesan wings and the 6 bone-in sweet & spicy wings. Of course, I always have rice at home, so everything was soooo delicious with honey mustard. My husband enjoyed his spicy chicken sandwich with mac and cheese, too! I'm so happy to have a full and happy tummy, but next time I definitely need to get a large French fries hehe! And shoutout to the drive-thru attendant who was super respectful and nice. 3/27/2026 - I went through the drive thru and ordered a classic chicken sandwich with no mayo and extra pickles. It arrived perfect. Ordered the fried pickles and excellent. Lastly, ordered the flounder sandwich which was overpriced and average. Disappointed. Also, far too much tartar sauce inside and was on the outside of the bun. I've never been a huge fan of fast-food chicken (Dave's Hot Chicken being the exception). However, if someone offers me a free lunch, I'm not going to say no. That's exactly what my employer did. Sandwiches from the Santee Popeye's. Spicy and regular. I grabbed a spicy and headed for the breakroom. I appreciated the foil packet the kept the sandwich warm. When I took it out it was still hot. It looked like a respectable sandwich, and it was. I keep a few things in the fridge at work, so I did doctor it up a bit. I added pepper jack cheese; some bacon and I mixed some Sriracha with mayo and slathered that on it. It was then even more respectable. The chicken itself was quite good. It was breaded nicely with a crispy exterior. The interior was juicy and flavorful. It was a pretty good size too. The bun, on the other hand, left a bit to be desired. Decent chicken sandwich. Not in a hurry to return to Popeye's, but free is free! read more

This is like a miniature restaurant. Kiosk only way to order. They only have 4 tables. Staff not around inside to help unless it's through the drive thru. I spent $32 for a three piece with a biscuit and a four piece with a Biscuit and a small soda. Then they screwed up what was supposed to be regular or spicy AND then I only got one biscuit. Specials couldn't be found at the kiosk so I ended up paying a lot of money for 7 tiny pieces of chicken. I'll never come back here. read more

Oddly enough, I did not come here to get some chicken, I came to this new location to try Popeye's seasonal flounder fish sandwich. The sandwich a la carte, at $6.99 plus tax is a decent deal. The sandwich was larger than I expected, although I did wish the deep fried crispy filet was a little thicker, but flounder, already being a flat fish, may not be possible with this fish. The fish tasted okay and was well fried. The exterior was crispy and quite bready. In the end, the sandwich in relationship to its size and price, was a good deal. I also purchased a side biscuit, which was very good. It was soft and moist and came warm to the touch. It tasted very good, too. The service was helpful. I am not a fan of order through a kiosk, but that is what they use here. One of the employees helped me with it. read more

I like the chicken here. The personnel are a whole different story. These people that work here do not realize that the priority for them is to provide good service to the customers who make a choice to frequent this establishment rather than another one in Santee which are numerous. Fast food establishments are everywhere! Today I was harassed by an impatient employee who cussed me out because I was counting change out to pay for the food I had ordered. This person was way out of line for her inappropriate behavior, yet on top of that she falsely accused me of being rude when I objected to being cussed out by her and said she was going to refuse me service when I had already paid her for the food! ! Maybe Popeyes should spend a little bit of time properly training employees in customer relations. One would think that an adult, as this "woman" was would know how to conduct herself. Instead she was extremely impatient, extremely rude and even crude for cussing at a customer because of the way they were paying for their food. The way this woman behaved she is suited for cleaning the bath rooms at your establishment and that is all! If I had an employee working for me such as her I would fire her! We've ordered here in Santee twice in the last 2 mos. We had the 8 piece chicken tenders and the 8 piece chicken family meal. Both times we have loved every single item. The bisquits are fantastic. Crispy outer edges and buttery soft inside. The mac n cheese is by far the best we've eaten anywhere. My roommate is very picky about coleslaw and he likes Popeyes better than KFC. I personally love the amount of choices you get for dipping sauces. We haven't tried the shrimp yet but they even have cocktail dipping sauce. We usually have leftovers, so we feel it's worth the price. We do takeout and so far the employees are pretty friendly. Keep up the good work! We'll be back. read more

What a disappointing experience. I ordered online for pickup and arrive 5 minutes after my pickup time and my food was not ready to pick up. The disappointing part is my name was on the food ready side of the fancy TV they have in the area where the pick up station is. After waiting about 5 minutes, I called someone and no one came. Mind you, no one greeted me as I came in either. I finally get someone to come over and I let them know that I am there for my pick up and the screen says that my good is ready and he says "okay" and walks away. He doesn't get my name, he just goes back to what he was doing. I ask someone else a few min later and they finally ask my name and get my food. The entire time my food was ready to go, sitting in the food prep area not in the pick up area. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not a single person cared about anything other then getting food in bags. Their self service approach needs a personal touch that woukd make all the difference. read more

First off, I'm a big fan of Popeyes Chicken. This being the first time at this new location I wasn't impressed. I order the 3piece chicken and the attached picture will show you what I received. The 3 selected pieces have to be the smallest I've bought at any location. Service was nonexistent and I was felt to be a bother having to ask for Cajon Sparkles. This is too bad because this is the closest location to my house. I can only hope this was a one time occurrence. This new location is much better than the El Cajon location off of Jamacha. It doesn't get very crowded so there's not much of a wait in the drive through. The area is clean. Nice, new construction. Workers are respectful and fast. Only thing is, they did end up getting one of my orders wrong today. I ordered mild and received spicy. I like spicy but I just can't have it due to a dietary restriction. They also did not include the hot sauce packets that are $0.25 each. But other than that, no issues and the food always comes out blazin' hot, not cold when we order from here whether it's via pick up or through delivery. read more
