I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find an organic fast casual restaurant here in Bradenton serving up delicious non-gmo food that is 100% safe to eat. From the moment my daughter and I walked into this clean and tidy establishment and were greeted by a friendly staff member--I knew we were in for a great experience. I started ordering from Poppos for catering my lunches at offices and WOW I have catered throughout Sarasota-St. Pete and every office absolutely loves their food. The Ancho Chicken is a great hit with everyone. It is healthy, doesn't leave the staff tired from a high carb lunch and they are so grateful that I have brought in something different. HIGHLY recommend. Everything is fresh and they make sure my order is on time and everything is there. You have no idea how much I dislike giving a low rating, but if something can help improve, I will give an honest review. We were famished and tired after a long drive, and only 2 miles from our home. We ordered a couple of items and the server asked if we wanted chips with that, and I enthusiastically said "sure!" We got out to the car and I reached into the bag to grab a chip to satisfy my hunger until I got home, and the chips were a teeny handful and a very dark dark over baked brown. That wasn't as disappointing as the fact that we were also charged $4.00 for these. I did go right back in, and very nicely asked if I could be credited back the chips since they were burnt and were an extra cost which I was not aware of. I blame me for that, HOWEVER if this is standard to ask if you want chips, can I recommend that you word it where the customer is aware they are buying them ? Maybe say 'would you like to purchase chips to go with your burrito?' Anyway, what occurred after is what has prompted this review. The servers did not know how to input my order to refund the chips or credit me and assured me the manager would call me when he/she came in at 5. ( this issue was at 1:47, by the way) I asked for a copy of the receipt as server wrote my number down on the back of the original receipt. I need to also add that none of these employees except for a new employee ( she seemed very pleasant) looked happy in their job, or even towards each other . I noticed this as I waited to order food. That's pretty sad. Friendly Customer service is EVERYTHING. Anyway, I did not receive a call Friday, Saturday, Sunday or today. And I have checked my bank account for a change in charge, plus have called various times today and your phone is not answering but goes to a voice mail after many rings. I'm sorry but I also have to add that your burrito is wonderful and has great flavor BUT the carnitas is so so spicy hot that I was grabbing for water after and during each bite. I was told to check out this place by many people in the area and as my first time ever visiting I am HIGHLY disappointed. I ordered a Quesadilla with Chips, Salsa and Guacamole. My quesadilla was missing all of its toppings except cilantro (For some reason it was only chicken and cilantro? see picture) and the chicken tasted extremely burnt. This was my first time here, but it will not be my last. The restaurant runs similar to Chipotle in regards to how the serving takes place. All the food is very fresh served in front of your eyes and a nice large portions. Be careful as a lot of the food is à la cart like the chips, guacamole, and a few other extras and what was to be a $12.25 bowl turned out to be $22.50, but the portions are very large, and very filling and drinks are free so that is an added benefit. OMG... Best Taqueria in Bradenton. I frequent this restaurant all the time with my family. Consistently fresh, homemade, ingredients. They fire your chips with each order so they're always fresh. Customer service is always excellent. My last visit I was helped by Lena and she was very customer friendly and super pleasant. Also she made a great quesadilla. The bowl was large, but the fillings were very lacking in taste. I have to agree with previous reviews that Taco Bell sadly is better. This was takeout I should note. Poppo's was sold to me as a "better Chipotle"-- anyone who knows me knows I like a good burrito the size of an infant, so Chipotle is my jam. Needless to say, the bar was set high before I got there. And I can safely say, it held up. They press your tortilla from a dough ball when you order, so the tortilla is fresh and soft. The meat is flavourful and while I like Chipotle chicken, it's dry in comparison to Poppo's. The rest of the ingredients tasted much fresher as well. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately fell short of that. Making the tortillas right in front of you, frying the chips right in front of you, I LOVE it. Issues: Cash only and wasn't aware of this until after food was made and at checkout. Credit card payment is fine but I just don't like surprises when I planned to pay cash Tortilla chips were decent but not even to the quality of chipotle Tacos. The meat was good but the cabbage had so much juice that by the time I sat down to each the tacos, you couldn't fold and eat the taco without everything falling out. This business does not accept cash. That is a huge red flag and makes me question why? What is wrong with US currency? The food has gone down hill, the meat doesn't appear or feel to be the correct temperature. I got sick after eating at the other location so went to try this one and can tell this business is just giving up. the workers were all congregated in the back having a social session while the manager couldn't be bothered while he sat in a booth and scolded the workers to come help me. I wish there was one by me after trying this place. Tacos are simple but they can definitely be made wrong. Here at Poppo's all the ingredients are fresh and organic! So many great flavors, from the seasonings and sauces on the proteins to the slaw and other fresh toppings. Everything is made fresh here; tortillas are pressed and cooked right when you order as well as freshly fried tortilla chips if you order a side of chips and salsa. We tried pretty much everything on the menu; Poppo's taco, classic taco, quesadilla, and a big bowl. The proteins were all so good and cooked perfectly (chicken, beef, and carnita are the ones we had). For the bowls they have the option of white or brown rice and pinto or black beans. The guacamole is only $2 and there are huge chunks of avocado in it, so good with the freshly made chips! I really enjoyed everything we got. The place is really clean and huge. This is my favorite place to get a burrito. I love their ingredients, they are unique and so fresh! I never would've thought to put feta or pickled cabbage in my burrito but now I can't look back it's too good also, I would definitely recommend the chimichurri sauce and the pineapple habanero sauce. I have no taste for chipotle anymore after finding this place. My only complaint is that it is a little pricey, but honestly I'm willing to pay it for how good the food is. This review is strictly based on the transaction with the person at the register.. we love poppos prob go 2-3 times a month for pick up.. this evening my wife went and picked up our dinner that came out to around $42 and change which is weird cause it's always around $36... o hey don't take cash (no idea why) anyways my wife taps to pay with her phone, it dings and she walks out as we don't need the receipt then as she's walking to the car she noticed the transaction on her phone came back at $50 and change.. tonight we didn't leave a tip and the cashier took it upon himself to tip himself without our acknowledgement.. wife walks in the question it and asks he manager got all annoyed at the situation taking out a calculator like it was such a pain to take care of a client you basically stole from... just be aware when paying they don't tap whatever tip they want! read more

The food seems to be fresh and tasty! The way it's ran is not near as good. No masks in here or social distancing the last couple times I went in. You cannot order on line, nor will they pick up their phones for a to go order. I literally had someone pick up and hang up the phone on me. Here's an idea, either hire more people who can keep up with your business or don't have your phone ringing if you have no help to answer it. But picking up and hanging up in a customers ear is just rude and acceptable. I will find another place who has fresh food and manners. read more

A low grade version of Chipotle. The ingredients were present but not the taste. I did like the fact that they had hand-crafted soda flavors. They have a baby bowl for $5.99 that is filling and a great option for lunch. They don't have as manay topping options as Chipotle. The atmosphere was quiet as the restaurant was empty at lunch time. It's a little more spendy than your average burrito bowl at Chipotle or Moe's, but I'd rather give my hard earned cash to Señor Poppo any day of the week. It wasn't love at first taste with Poppo's as I thought the bowl was a tad dry. But then I tried the bowl with Señor Poppo's world famous chimi-aioli and everything changed!
